Very amusing!

Great fun for the die=hard Dr Who fans, which all of us are.
It was the BBC's annual Dr. Who Christmas special.
We had a great video and a great brunch.

"Chaplin" (1992) with Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey was great in the role of Chaplin. I'm sure I had seen this film years ago but it was almost like seeing it for the first time.

"A film about the troubled and controversial life of the master comedy filmmaker Charles Chaplin."
Charlie Chaplin's daughter, Geraldine Chapman, played the role of Chaplin's mother. Her grandfather was Eugene O'Neill, the playwright. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geraldi...
The film was adapted from:
My Autobiography by Charlie Chaplin
and
Chaplin by David Robinson

Robert Downey Jr is a good actor. Adding "Chaplin" on my list of things to watch. Thanks Joy.

Like Tom Hanks. Haven't seen this one. Adding to my list. Thanks Nina.

It was in my Netflix queue. I moved it up. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1583420/?...
Thanks, Nina. Tom Hanks is always a good bet. Not so much Julia Roberts. There's just something about her I cannot like. Don't know what it is.

Joy, It's interesting what you say about Julia Roberts, for two reasons. The first is that I used to think that she wasn't too pretty, and one of the reasons why was her mouth. But, now I think she has an interesting beauty and she is a very good actor/actress-I'm not sure what the correct word to use anymore. The other reason is that when I was recently asked to name an actress that I think would be good to play the lead character if my novel were to be made into a movie, I mentioned Julia. One caveat though, and that was that it would have to be someone like her but younger. That answer was made based on how I obviously viewed the character I created and felt that someone like Julia Roberts would probably do an excellent job portraying her.

I see. That's a good answer.
Speaking of casting an actor of the right age, see my next post here.

Spacey was much too old to play the young Bobby Darin. See my next post for some interesting info about Bobby Darin.

In that film we learn that "Bobby Darin was reared by his maternal grandmother, who he thought was his mother. But his real mother was his sister.
Strangely enough, this is also true of Jack Nicholson. His "sister" was actually his mother.
Neither Darin or Nicholson knew of these facts until they were adults.
See the following Wiki pages which state the above:

I guess the movie had nothing to do about sharks!

FROM WIKI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_...

Bobby Darin singing "Beyond the Sea".
"Bobby Darin's version of Charles Trenet's classic "Beyond The Sea" was recorded 1959 before the swing era was dying out. Although "La Mer," the classic, talks of white seagulls, tall wet reeds, rusty houses, and clear gulfs, "Beyond the Sea" talks about a man and his love."

Yeah, I remember that song. I don't think I've heard it that often, but I do remember hearing it. I wasn't born until 1954.

"Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear... And it shows them pearly white... Could that someone be Mack the Knife?"

Sleepless in Seattle, another thing that I reference in my book that is set in your neck of the woods.

I am currently listening to an audio CD of a book which is a memoir about Nora Ephron who wrote the screenplay to "Sleepless in Seattle". The book is called:
She Made Me Laugh: My Friend Nora Ephron by Richard Cohen.
Nora Eprhon was a marvel!
Below is a link to a YouTube of a Nora Ephron interview.

Yes, I watched that movie a while ago. Tom Hanks made it fun and interesting.
