Serial Killers are not Recoverable
I wish I hadn't watched the series first. I actually watched between book 2 and 3. I assumed the series would just cover book 1 but it rolled in all 3 books in to the one series so there were definite spoilers. Some things were left out while new things were added to the show. I preferred the book ending. Actually I think I preferred the books better fullstop.
I read the books before the tv series came out and really like them. I decided to not watch the tv series.
I finished another orphan Staked. I gave it 4 stars but I don't know what I think about it. I do know that I really like Archdruid Owen. He cracks me up.

I just got this audiobook (paid b/c I couldn't stand the library wait time). I love Luke Daniels narration of this series so much.
I didn't kill of any series in February, but I did make some progress on a few.I started a new series with Ink and Bone which is an alternate history where the printing press was never invented and Alexandria never burned. It's YA, but doesn't necessarily read that way. Interesting and I'm looking forward to book 2 being published this year.
I worked on a couple mystery series: the Medicus series Caveat Emptor, which is set in Roman Britain and the Chet & Bernie series The Sound and the Furry which is about a P.I. and his dog. Randomly, the dog, Chet, reminds me a bit of Oberon from the Iron Druid Chronicles - two of my favorite fictional canines. ;)
I also read the second book in the Expanse series Caliban's War. This series is amazing and the TV show is so well done. I definitely recommend it for anyone who likes space opera.
Great to hear you enjoyed Caliban's War Colleen. That's the one i need to read next in the series. I've been reading the novellas too which are good.

I'm halfway through - I understand it doesn't move beyond book 1, but there's a significant character in it from book 2.
I normally don't bother with novellas, but I picked up The Butcher of Anderson Station and plan to read it soon. Glad to hear they're good!
I have it on my list of series to download. I think I'm going to wait to watch it until I've at least read book 2 just to be sure. I enjoyed the butcher of anderson station but i prefered The Churn more i think. Both give good insight in to two main characters of the series though so i think they are worth it.
A couple of years ago, I read The Summoner for the Around the World challenge because it was set in Zimbabwe. It was just a meh book for me, but the next couple of books in the series intrigued me and I thought if they stumbled across my path, I would read them. There they were on the Kindle Daily Deal this morning - the entire series for $1.99 each. I'm not doing so good in killing series, but I should get top marks for adding them!
I've killed off a series - yeah me!I finished Magic Shifts which kills off Kate Daniels series, at least until the next book is released.
There are some short stories I intend to read but I'm not counting short stories.
Yay, Janice! I know you liked the Kate Daniel Series. I finished another orphan book and hope to kill off the MaddAddam trilogy this month.
I've killed off the In Death series (again) with Brotherhood in Death by J.D. Robb. Couldn't let it be an orphan, just had to read it.

I've kind of decided that once I start a series, I need to work on finishing it. That's why I concentrated on the Kate Daniel series. Now, I'm going to focus on The Night Huntress Series, and The First Law trilogy. I just have the last book in the First Law trilogy. Hopefully, I can get to it this month.
Susan wrote: "I've killed off the In Death series (again) with Brotherhood in Death by J.D. Robb. Couldn't let it be an orphan, just had to read it."Hahaha! Those orphans will get you every time. :)
I guess it depends on how many books there are, Janice. I am trying to make some of mine do double duty too.
I used to read all the books in a series back to back. But now I prefer to leave some time between them, although not too much time. I've started some new series recently so I'm going to make killing some of the shorter series a priority so that I don't feel so bad about starting the new ones I've had.
Do you follow Oberon on Twitter, Rusalka? I rather enjoyed his poem yesterday. I have stolen
the socks
in your sock drawer
Which you were
probably saving
for cold days
Forgive me
They are shredded now
Ha ha
Ha ha ha
I read Staked to wrap up the series. I found a couple of Iron Druid novellas at the library that I will check out though. Just another orphan taken care of.And I just had to go looking for Oberon's Twitter feed. I love that poem, Janice!
Okay - no searching Overdrive looking for books to listen to before I go to bed. I have now added a series by Kate Wilhelm. I did not realize until I looked it up today that it is a 1st in Series. I liked her other book called Death of an Artist and this book, Death Qualified - A Mystery of Chaos was available. Overdrive did not list it as a series. The narrator is Anna Fields. I like her voice.
I finished the first Barbara Holloway book, Death Qualified - A Mystery of Chaos. I really liked it but the audio editing left something to be desired. Sad ending.
Another one bites the dust - I finished The First Law Trilogy", the final book being Last Argument of Kings. Majorly intense!
I just finished listening to Nero Wolfe #17. It has been months since I listened to one of the books. It was a great story and the cover allows me to add it to my Geo Trek list! I only have three more left on Overdrive to listen to. I have managed to locate two more books in print and purchase them, but there are still more "out there" to discover. I may have to cross off more of my series that are listed. I cannot locate some of the next books.
I started the Private series by James Patterson with Private India for the geocaching challenge. I was pleased with how much the setting of India was actually incorporated into the story and not just a token mention. I may have to check out some of the other books in the series to fill in a few of those sites..
I also read The Drafter, the first of the new Peri Reed series by Kim Harrison. I thoroughly enjoyed Rachel Morgan in the The Hollows so I'm hoping this will be a good series as well.
not doing well killing off things. I have added more than I have killed. I added Stoker and Homes, since I will be reading the 2nd one with Casceil.
Janice wrote: "You and me both, Cherie. It's easier to add than complete."I guess so, but I haven't added as many as you have.
I haven't had any luck killing any off either. Unless you count a few in progress series with more books on the way. As in, I'm all caught up with Maisie Dobbs, The Water Rat of Wanchai (Ava Lee), A Siege of Bitterns (Birder Murder Mystery), and The Last Kingdom (Saxon Chronicles) but they all have new books coming out this year or next.
So I've picked out three series to work on specifically, The Sanctuary Seeker (Crowner John) which I have finished 8 of 15. A Man Lay Dead (Roderick Alleyn) that I'm reading #9 of 32 and The Mask of Ra (Amerotke) where I'm reading #3 of 7.
Hopefully this will help me finish the 10 series I want to kill off this year!!

Hush you. :)
Dawn wrote: "As in, I'm all caught up with Maisie Dobbs, The Water Rat of Wanchai (Ava Lee), A Siege of Bitterns (Birder Murder Mystery), and The Last Kingdom (Saxon Chronicles) but they all have new books coming out this year or next..."We've been calling those series as completed. Any new books to the series are orphans.
I've personally been calling them under construction and keeping a different list. What I want to do is kill a few series that will not be resurrecting themselves in the future.
Maybe I should be calling them the Undead series to keep with the theme. :)
LOL! The Undead is a good one, Janice. Stephanie Plum could go there. I finished 22 as an orphan and I think 23 is out already.
Another Nero Wolfe book done. 24 of 47, but I only have 3 more audio books left to listen to. I guess they could not get rights to record them all, when Michael Pritchard was narrating them. I love listening to him!
Nice, that will be as impressive as finishing all the Poirot books by the time you're done. I've read 1 of 47 in that series!
I added The Passage trilogy to my list. The third book will be out in May, but we finished The Twelve in our buddy read after I re-read The Passage. Technically, we would not have been allowed to add to last year's challenge until the third book was out, but this is my challenge. :) I also added Stoker and Holmes, since it looks like I will read the third. I am liking the 2nd book better than the first. I got the first Inspector Sejer book from the library after I read #5 (because I bought it) during the toppler. Good grief!
Looks like we will be reading Death on the Nile in May, so I will get another Hercule Poirot done. And a buddy read for Harry Hole too. We will be reading The Redbreast starting May 15th, I think.
Cherie, you're still killing! LOL! I added The Passage to my list as well. It will make me feel like I'm actually finishing some series when we read it in June.
Finally, I've finished another series. Chronicles of Isaac of Girona was an 8 book series that I got around to tracking down the last book of so I could say I was done. It's an interesting mystery series set in medieval Spain with a blind Jewish doctor as the mystery solver. It's unique for it's setting and I thought it was a pretty solid 3.5 star series.
LOL! I see new series books every day, and they all sound so good. It is impossible not to start new ones until old ones are finished, isn't it? I am really enjoying the first Inspector Konrad Sejer book, Eva's Eye. The language is so interesting. I have to stop and think about car parks (drive ways) and boiler pants (coveralls). It is a very interesting feel. No rush, no heart pounding suspense. It is hard to fathom the cold and the ice in the river. He is a nice man. There is no conflict, but there is sadness. Very unique.

Do you think the tv series was a bit of a spoiler, or where they so totally different in the endings?
