Krysta (krystafig) | 4089 comments I've got Cerulean Sins on my computer at work for when I've got down time, and I've borrowed Smoke from the library.
Hoping to finish them both up by tomorrow so I can start on Prom Nights from Hell and Escape from Zombie Island.
I found out that Escape from Zombie Island is a sort of choose-your-own though and I'm not very excited about that. We'll see how it goes though I suppose.

Cerulean Sins (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #11) by Laurell K. Hamilton Smoke (Burned, #2) by Ellen Hopkins Prom Nights from Hell by Meg Cabot Escape from Zombie Island (A One Way Out Novel) by Ray Wallace

I need to get back into Anita Blake. I've only read up to Circus of the Damned

Katharine Sadler | 51 comments I'm reading Burn by Julianna Baggott. I don't know if it's my mood or the book, but I'm having a hard time getting into it.

Shannon (tennylle76) | 59 comments I am currently reading Death's Rivaland I also started Cinder. I really need to reread Laurell K. Hamilton. I stopped around book 18, only because I got started on other series.

Death's Rival (Jane Yellowrock, #5) by Faith Hunter Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer

I've heard it gets better again, but the last couple of books I've read from the Anita Blake Series have been sort of disappointing.
There's still blood and gore and violence, but there's also SO MUCH POINTLESS SEX! I knew it was coming though when I started the series. I'd been given plenty of warnings from other readers.
I see how Laurell K. Hamilton tried to work it in to the story line, but I'm just still not a fan of it. I feel like she's changed Anita too much. I understand that as a story progresses, characters mature and change, and that's wonderful. I just don't like the direction she'd been taking Anita.
Like I said though, hopefully she'll reel it back in a tad on the sex and we can get back to the basics.

Yeah, I've heard that too. You'd think it would make me want to continue reading, LOL!! But I kind of lost interest after the circus. I'm sure I'll get back into it eventually. I might even have the next book buried in my kindle.

Another book I couldn't really get into, which is strange, was The Darkest Seduction. I started it, but set it down, and haven't yet picked it back up. I think I've been going through a YA faze.

message 8: by Krysta (new)

Krysta (krystafig) | 4089 comments I think like most series, Anita Blake has her ups and downs. I'm just in the middle of a down right now.

I have not started the Lords of the Underworld series... is it worth jumping in to?

I went through a YA phase and I'm working out of it. I still pick up Percy Jackson books and Ellen Hopkins' works, but for the most part I'm being drawn towards more...grown up books.

LOTU is another up and down series for me. The first hero in book one made me laugh because he reminded me of Mr. Furious from Mystery Men with Ben Stiller.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 97 comments I am currently listening to Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor

Haven't ever read Anita, but I was a Merry Gentry fan - got sick of waiting for a new book in that series and just found other stuff to read

Oh, what do you think of Divergent? I haven't read it yet, but I've seen the movie.

message 22: by Edit~A (new)

Edit~A (edit-a) It's good, I read it with a lot of pleasure, first book was amazing, now i'm reading the second one, and so far I like it too.
And did you like the movie? I want to watch it after i finish the books.

message 23: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (magicmeida) For all of you who have seen the Divergent movie, do you think I should watch it because I loved the books until the third one, and I'm not sure if I want to watch the movie after that ending.

message 24: by Vera (new)

Vera M. This month I have read
Life After Life by Kate Atkinson Bloodsucking Fiends (A Love Story, #1) by Christopher Moore Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews
I plan to finish off the few books out that I haven't read yet of J.D. Robb's In Death series. If I have more time this month after that it's on to Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassins on book 3 there.

message 25: by Heather (new)

Ughhh the 3rd Divergent book! Right at this point I've boycotted seeing the movie since I'm still seeing red over the 3rd book! The first and 2nd were both 4 *s for me, but the third just ruined the whole series for me. I'm sure at some point I'll be far enough removed from reading it that I can stand to watch it. I've heard from a lot of people that it was good and decently true to the book.

I did like it, but I bet there was a lot left out, just like any other book to movie flick.

Magicmeida wrote: "loved the books until the third one, and I'm not sure if I want to watch the movie after that ending.."

I have the same feeling about The Hunger Games. Read the books, loved them, but hated the last one.

message 28: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 18, 2014 03:01PM) (new)

I too wasn't happy with the third Divergent book but you should really see the movie. I thought they did a good job staying to the book. Plus the actor playing Four is HOT!!

message 29: by Edit~A (new)

Edit~A (edit-a) Haha :D OK, I'll watch it then :)

message 30: by B. (new)

B. Truly (brandytruly) | 11 comments Hi Magicmeida, this is B Truly. I read Divergent and the movie was awesome. But I haven't read book 2 or 3 yet. I have heard about bk 3 ending and I'm not sure if I will ever read the book or see the book 3 movie either. I don't know exactly what happens in book 3 ending, but I know it's not a happily ever after. I love series with a lot of drama and action, but in the end I want the main characters together and happy. Since you have read the series I do think you should definitely see Divergent though. It was done very well.

message 31: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 2 comments I had no desire to see the movie after the third book, which really ruined the whole series for me. However, my daughter has not read the third book yet and begged me to go see the movie with her. (I can't bring myself to tell her how I feel about the third book. I want her to make that decision based on her own opinion...not mine.) So of course I took her to see the movie. I thought they did a really good job. It followed the book for the most part.

message 32: by Krysta (new)

Krysta (krystafig) | 4089 comments I must be a strange one then... I actually really liked Allegiant. It's not often that a book gets me so emotional, but that one did.
I'm a little odd in the fact that while I do love happily ever afters...Sometimes they just aren't plausible and you have to have the sad, tragic endings as well.

I haven't seen Divergent in theaters yet, but I want to as soon as I can. At this point though I think I'll have to wait until it's out on DVD.

A Wedding In December is giving me problem, I cant seem to get into it. As I have 5 other books of hers on my to read shelf ( got them at a charity shop) I want to read them all.
I am told this is not one of her better books. Am half through Dark Prince it is the special edition one and am enjoying it.
The Switch is a laugh, Lynsay Sands books always have funny turns in them. This one is about a pair of twin sisters on the run.

I loved Poison Princess, myself. If you're okay with reading YA in general, then you'll love it. Kresley's style translates well. There definitely isn't sex like in her adult romances, but the angst is great and the way the two characters relationship progresses is classic Kresley.
