Right now reading Alex Beecroft's Too Many Fairy Princes which is absolutely wonderful! God, I just love the way she writes
Finishing these will be the priority:Deadhouse Gates
The Lions of Al-Rassan
The Kingdom of Gods
Best Served Cold
White Night
I'm in the mood for some fairy tales. It's been a long time since I've read any, and I'm working on a fairy tale-oriented project.
I'm listening to The Ocean at the End of the Lane, about halfway through.I've just finished Just a Geek: Unflinchingly honest tales of the search for life, love, and fulfillment beyond the Starship Enterprise.
I'm trying to find time to get moving in Dust of Dreams.
Aaaaand just started Boneshaker!
I finished The Arabian Nights: Tales from a Thousand and One Nights yesterday. I have to admit I had to push myself to finish it, but I think my favorite story in there was about the voyages of Sinbad.Been reading The Republic of Thieves now. Loving it so far. :)
Aaah, my post just erased! Basically, The Kingdom of Gods, The Darkest Road, Dry Season, Under Heaven.
Just read Prince of Thorns. Really liked the start i.e. setting the scene- idea was fresh. Enjoyed book overall but first half was best. Reading The Tattered Banner then on to the Thousand Names.
I have really been slacking on keeping up with my Goodreads account because I have been reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. The series has totally consummated my life. I HIGHLY recommend to everyone that they give these books a shot.
I'll be finishing up The Other Lands and Ex-Communication. Then, I'll move on to Woken Furies and Blood Harvest.
Finished K.J. Parker's Devices and Desires and moved on to Evil for Evil because I can't wait to see how much more colossally wrong things can go for everyone involved.
Luke wrote: "How was Devices and Desires?"It certainly wouldn't be for everybody -- Parker is fascinated with the minutiae of smithying and court life and such, and will happily spend a page or two talking about the proper technique for forging a leaf spring (or about how the smith is making a total bodge of it because he's starting with inferior iron and his forge can't generate sufficient well-regulated heat and he has to use the wrong kind of hammer); myself, I find that stuff fascinating, and the narrative surrounding it I found compelling.
My review.
Hopefully will finish these: Promise of BloodUnder Heaven
The Warrior Prophet
The Forge of Darkness
American Gods
Last Argument of Kings
Although I wouldn't really bet on it. I haven't been in a reading mood lately and I'm beta testing a new game :/. I feel guilty, though, because some of these have been waiting for me to finish them for at least a year, which means I will probably just need to start over.
I'm reading Betrayal in the Highlands and Among Thieves. I'm not too much into Among Thieves yet, the plot seems twisted enough, and the main character passable enough, but I feel it's too centered on world building and thieves' (Kin) lingo. I don't know, I'm still reading it anyway. Betrayal in the Highlands is the second book of Robert Evert, I liked the first one (a bit of goblins for a change, very fantasy) but I've just started. Last month I finished the Locke Lamora (Scott Lynch) books, a great picking, even if the last one is my least favorite. Suggestions for my next book? I don't know about many mentioned in this thread. Lately I've really enjoyed The Ryiria series of Michael Sullivan and I'd like to read something comparable.
I am trying to methodically read and shrink my to-read list, which includes books of all genres. Now back to a fantasyReading Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn.
Along with other non-fantasy -
I've finished:Lies of Locke Lamora
Steelheart
Currently reading:
The Blade Itself
To read for this month:
The Red Knight
Finish A Feast for Crows
The Black Company
The Thousand Names
Promise of Blood
Hollow World
I might try to start some Brent Weeks or the Riyria Chronicles as well if I have time.
I'm reading way too many books (probably to avoid writing my own). But I've really enjoyed a few titles. I get some through Netgalley, which means some of these might not be released yet. - The Cowboy and the Vampire: A Very Unusual Romance The Cowboy and the Vampire: A Very Unusual Romancewas a fun read, especially if you like paranormal and western genres. I wrote a review on it, here on goodreads.
- The Red Lily Crown The Red Lily Crown: A Novel of Medici Florence was steeped in historic facts about 1500s Italy, and the search for science, which borders on magic.
-The Hunger and the Howling of Killian Lone The Hunger and the Howling of Killian Lone: The Secret Ingredient of Unforgettable Food Is Sufferingis really unique in that it is about Chefs and their domain (nasty stuff). The dark side of abuse rears its ugly head many times in this novel, and things get darker as you read on.
I'm thinking of reading Wolfskin Wolfskinnext, by Juliet Marillier. Has anyone read this? Any comments on it?
Just finished The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison. Really wonderful, unique and totally engrossing. Great main character who is likable, sympathetic and hopeful. Complex world building and court dynamics. Just an all around great book.
Just finished the second book of Traitor Son Cycle - The fell Sword. Great stuff, can't wait for more.
I'm reading Sarah Wynde, one novel after another. Started with A Gift of Ghosts, loved it, then read A Gift of Thought and got absolutely enchanted. Now I'm reading the book #3 in the series, A Gift of Time. This one is less funny and more disturbing than the first two but also a good read. I'm about half-way through.
I finished The Stone of the Stars. I might put it in the almost "so bad it's good" category, but I enjoyed it enough to continue on with The Empire of the Stars.
I am steadily working through the Discworld books. Right now I am reading Feet of Clay which is a City Guard book about golems. Read Interesting Times which is a Rincewind the wizard book very loosely based on China, and Soul Music which is a Death book about rock and roll over the weekend. Terry Pratchett is very funny!

I just finished Lies of Locke Lamora, as well, and have Red Seas Under Red Skies sitting on the bookshelf. I just began A Game of Thrones though...
Lately I've been in the habit of reading the first book in a series and then moving on to something else. Don't know why. It's not like me at all.

Finishing Hild for my book club which has me slowed WAY down. Hoping to finish my re-read of The Way of Kings and then skip back to finish up Canavan's Traitor Spy trilogy with The Traitor Queen.

is one of my favorite books, and this one starts a fascinating series.
I have decided to read The Wheel Of Time series. I have put this off forever due to one I wasn't finished when I first consider it, and two it's a huge commitment. Wish me luck!

. Read The Curse of the Mistwraith. It's the beginning of a long, rich, and fascinating series. My favorite.
Wrapped up The Escapement, the final book in the Engineer trilogy (very good but kind of exhausting), and needed some comfort food so it's time for The Sword of Welleran and Other Stories by Lord Dunsany.
And I just finished Lord Dunsany's The Sword of Welleran and Other Stories -- quite lovely -- and think it's time for Steles of the Sky, the last in Elizabeth Bear's stunningly good Eternal Sky trilogy.
In the last days I finished Anansi Boys and As The Crow Flies. Tomorrow I'll start Different Seasons.
I'm reading The Sword of Shannara and Waylander. I'm really loving Waylander. Anything by David Gemmell is a safe bet for me. I've paused on Shannara just because the incredible similarities to the LOTR stories is a bit of a turn off for me. I'm looking forward to the May reads and the fact that I'm taking a 7 week leave and will have endless time for reading!
