Tamara Agha-Jaffar Hi Everyone,
I'm a retired academic--a former professor of English, academic dean, and VP for academic affairs. I retired in 2013 and have been enjoying retirement by catching up on reading and writing.
I have published four books, all of which focus on women in mythology.
Demeter and Persephone: Lessons from a Myth is a feminist reading of the Demeter/Persephone myth.
Women and Goddesses in Myth and Sacred Text is a cross-cultural primary source text for women in religion courses.
Since retiring, I have published two novels: A Pomegranate and the Maiden, a re-telling of the Demeter/Persephone myth through the voices of the characters involved. The book is available in paperback (currently running a giveaway on Goodreads) and on Amazon Kindle.
My second novel, Unsung Odysseys, is a re-telling of Odysseus' return from Troy through the voices of the women involved in his escapades.
An excerpt of the first chapter of each novel is available on my blog at www.tamaraaghajaffar.com
I post book reviews on my website in addition to writing a blog on learning from myths.
I'll post my reviews in the appropriate genre folders as soon as I can. I'll also post information on my Giveaway in the correct folder.
I'm happy to have found this group and look forward to reading and participating in the discussions.
Thanks and all best.
tamara

Rowena Hoseason | 7 comments Hi folks,
lovely to 'meet' you all. I've been reviewing books for nearly 20 years and typically read crime-thrillers, noir, some supernatural and some sci-fi.
My fella Frank Westworth writes crime-thrillers, so we're a well-matched pair!
We're both magazine editors by trade.

Cherie Summers | 1 comments Relatively new author here, trying to garner some more book reviews. I have a series called Love on Fire. The first 3 books are about Adrian "Bolt" Hall, a man with a traumatic past who wants to be a rock star and Melody, the sweet, rich and beautiful girl he falls for. They fight their attraction tooth and nail but as they say ''opposites attract''. Book 1 begins their romantic journey in 1982 when the two are still in high school. Book 2, Adrian's Melody" takes them into early adulthood. Book 3 will be released later this year, and then I'll depart from Melody and Adrian and focus on other members of his punk rock band, Lightning. My muses for the characters in the band were all music icons from the 1980's. My books are published by Extasy Books and contain adult language and situations. They are considered erotic romance, although the first book contains only two explicitly sexual scenes. (Book 2 I lost count. LOL). You can find my books wherever ebooks are sold, including my publisher website.

Hi Vie,

I was wondering if you would be interested in reviewing children's books.

I am looking for book reviewers to review 2 of my eBooks, Big and Small in the Mirror, and The Magic Leaf. I have a 3rd book, Humanitarians, Visionaries, Heroes, and You, which is available in print only.

Big and Small in the Mirror is about bullying that happens in the school environment. The two main characters, Carlo and Marco, learn the effects of bullying on their self-images and how positive relationships help them grow. The book is appropriate for children between 8-10 years old.

I provide discussion questions at the end of the book to help parents and teachers facilitate a discussion about bullying, and to put the story in perspective.

The Magic Leaf is about a small-town boy who learns the value of friendship. The appropriate reading age would be 6-8. It has beautiful illustrations.

Humanitarians, Visionaries, Heroes, and You is a collection of 7 inspiring mini-biographies and my own reflections, intended to encourage the reader to join a growing movement towards social responsibility and global citizenship. This book is for an older audience (10 – 12+). It is sold on my website and Amazon.ca.

If you decide to review one or both of the eBooks, I will send a copy to you. Both eBooks are on Amazon and in the iBooks Store, so you can choose a Kindle or ePub copy.

If you want a copy of Humanitarians, Visionaries, Heroes, and You, let me know.

Thank you for your time.

Warm regards,
Mary

Rae Else (raeelse) | 12 comments Welcome Arjun! I really like your profile - the anachronism part I can definitely relate to and your part at the end: "I can't in all honesty say that "I am here to make friends"...because when I am with books, I have all the friends I could ever want." is fantastic and so true. I just finished reading A Thirteenth Tale, a gothic suspense novel and the character in that expresses the same sentiment - something, I think that all us bookish people get. p.s. Thanks for adding Descendants and feel free to pm me for a free advance reader copy!

Casey Roberts (casey_roberts) | 2 comments I'm a nonfiction writer in Kentucky, I write primarily about science, atheism/religion, politics, society/culture, and some philosophy. My books are more like a collection of essays, touching on many topics. I have a new book coming out called Critical Thinking: The Use of Reason and Rationality, and I hope to get some reviews and establish friendships here.

I would like that too Sheena. The book is currently in the editing stage, a few more steps to go, but it will hopefully be released within a couple of months. I'll be posting updates on my site, www.caseyrobertsauthor.com, Twitter and Facebook, as it
progresses. I'd welcome as many reviews as I can get.

Joseph Molloy (joemolloy) Hi Everyone

I'm Joe, a life-long reader who is always looking for new books to read. I generally stick to non-fiction these days and review what I read at http://hardertodestroy.com/

I'm new to Groups on Goodreads as I've always just used it to look at books. Looking forward to talking to everybody.

E (emriea) | 1 comments Hello! I'm a storyteller/writer/author. I just released my first novel MORA Goddess of Death (https://www.amazon.com/Mora-Goddess-D...) on Amazon - it's the first of a trilogy and is YA dark fantasy. (free right now 3/9-3/13!)

I read everything (except horror because I'm prone to nightmares!) and I love talking about all things books!

I'm just getting ready to launch my first YA, Urban-Fantasy book, Descendants - the first in a trilogy too. I'd be happy to send you an advance reader e-copy. Feel free to PM me on here if you're interested. Many thanks, Rae
