Hey...I was going through and trying to add the dates for each week to my list of choices (on my own Word document, not here on Goodreads), in order to keep up with group discussions. There are a few places (July forward) where the dates seem a little off or the weeks are short (ie one week says July 29-July 4, it should actually be July 29-Aug 5, etc)...can one of the mods check the dates posted for those weeks? Thanks for keeping this group organized and on track!

Thanks! Now that I went through the whole year on my own, I think dates as far back as February might be messed up...when I made my own schedule I forgot to include Leap Year the first time around. Oops. :)
A different sort of question...Some people have star symbols in their posts to show how they rated books they've finished. Is there a code for this please, or how do I do it?
I usually just copy and paste the actual star since that works too.

Help, I want to rename my personal challenge shelf for this group. How do I do that. I want it to be called Around the World in 52 books instead of JoJo's 60 books in 2016.

You can rename your shelf, when your on the page "my books". Choose edit at the top, and choose rename after the shelf you want to change.
Then choose "update my entry" on the group page. And there you can add your shelf. Maybe you have to leave the challenge first, and then add the new shelf. I did that, and it worked fine.

I'm reading The Marriage of Opposites which I wanted for week 2, but found out most of it is set on St Thomas. But the last 30-40 pages are set in France. Could this still count for week 2, because I had another book planned for week 3?

Any ideas as to why my plan only shows through #21 when I have 52 items listed? I can edit the 52 but only see 21 after editing the post.

Question on Week 14: A book with one of the five W’s -or H in the title (Who/What/Where/When/Why/How)
Does it need to be a question or just have the word? As example: Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed or Where My Heart Used to Beat. I'm having a tough time finding one with a question mark!

In my opinion, it doesn't have to be a question, just have the word in the title.
I remember when I was looking for suggestions for that week, I had a hard time finding a helpful list of books so I resorted to focusing on those with a question. But it doesn't necessarily have to have one :)

I am trying to connect my challenge to my shelf. I copied and pasted the name of the shelf title into the challenge box. I am getting this error: ["User shelf name not entered."]Can you help me figure out how to proceed please?

I am so sorry if this has been asked before: Is the group bookshelf for seeing who read what book for what category or for seeing all of the categories that apply to each book?
For instance, when adding a book to the bookshelf, should we shelve it only in the category for which we are reading it, or should we shelve it on every shelf for which it satisfies the category (so others can use those shelves for suggestions?) Also, if a book we have read in the past is on the bookshelf, it is appropriate to add it to a category shelf it fits, if the original person who added it did not, or just leave it?

I have a question about week 41 - a major world event. Would The Mercy of the Sky: The Story of a Tornado work for that week?

Where do people stand on listening to books on tape? Do you count them toward your challenge? Not count them?
Yes, audiobooks count, especially because they take more time than reading the book. We have plenty of members doing audio!
I know a ton of people count them. I personally only count it if I was totally engaged but I know that's more a personal issue. I just don't have the attention span for them sometimes so I'll finish a book and question whether or not I really should count it.

I count them. I probably do about 30% audio, 30% physical book, and 40% e-book. Without audiobooks, I wouldn't "read" nearly as much. There just isn't enough hours in the day. ;D
Same for me! Thanks to 2 daily hours in my car I can discover more books (but I don't listen to music anymore, which is a bit sad).
I'm a walker and listen while I walk. I can't listen while home and cleaning house or things like that, I don't pay enough attention, but when I walk each day for at least an hour, it's just as good as reading with my eyes.
So I already gave up on my week 2 book and I feel like a complete failure, hahaha. I added my new week 2 book already. Should I go back and delete my progress post and make a new one?
It's not a huge deal, but you can delete the progress post and then create a new one if you want :)
Ok thanks! I deleted it from the progress post but left it in the A-Z in case I decide to pick it up later on for a different category.
So I'm curious if there are any sort of requirements for the non-fiction category. I've got to read a book for work and would love to count it for the challenge as it's going to take some time and effort to get through
Question: ive been on a binge reading spree these past 2 weeks that i could already tick off 5 of my reading list. can we do that? if so, we need to place the books we read on the a-z and comment after reading (this list is updated monthly), can we put more than 4 books then? sorry guys. im new to this group.
Welcome to the group, Odette. Many members will join late throughout the year and use books they already read towards the challenge. That's completely fine.You're not required to put your books into the A-Z folders but we encourage members to do so because it sparks discussions. If you read more than four books that you're including towards your challenge, you're welcome to post them all in the A-Z folders and discuss them with us. Please be sure to follow the formatting rules. :)
The reason we're asking members not to post all their books at once is because a year is a long time. You might think you're going to stick to your plan perfectly or that life won't get in the way of your reading goals, but you never know. If members are only posting books as they're reading them (or close to when they're reading them) it keeps the discussion threads more active with live threads and makes it easier for mods to, well, moderate.
I'm just full of questions today, so here's another one:The A-Z folders are for discussing the books. But what about spoilers? Are we supposed to use the spoiler mark every time we reveal something from the book, or can we write freely about things happening in the book?
Personally I feel like the spoiler mark in some way makes it difficult to start a good discussion, but I'm curious to know what others think? (Maybe this should be an off topic-thread instead)
