Carla (carlacollette) | 347 comments Thanks for the apology. It sure did take all the fun out of it. I truly was thinking that I was recommending good books that you would like and feeling good about it. Now I just feel bad about the whole thing. I did edit my post, though.

No worries, Stacie! I've been trying to organize better for my October challenges. My eyes were bigger than my stomach in September. Thanks though for letting me know.

I usually make my picks on a word doc and then copy and paste. That has happened to me one too many times.

message 105: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Emerson, here you go! I really hope there is something good in here for you! I tend to go overboard so I'm sorry!

1.Recommend a short book or a book set in NY.
TBR: Propositioning Mr. Raine (Riding the Raines, #1) by Laurann Dohner This looked like one of the shorter books on your list.

TBR: Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase , takes place in NYC, sounds interesting! I may add it to my list.

NEW: Play With Me (Bedroom Games, #1) by Alisha Rai , She's newer to me but from what I've read so far, I enjoy her writing.

NEW: Bad Romeo (Starcrossed, #1) by Leisa Rayven I devoured this book. Takes place in NYC. It might be more New Adult than I think you read but I loved it so much, I'm throwing it in here anyway ;)

2.Recommend a book set in Scotland or a book you consider a guilty pleasure.

TBR: In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks Not sure it gets more Scottish than this ;)

TBR: Priest by Sierra Simone This book was kind of a guilty pleasure for me. I'm not religious by any means so it wasn't so much that as some of the places they had sex were like uhhhh woah, that's kinda wrong and kinda hot.

NEW: The Hostage Bargain (Taken Hostage by Hunky Bank Robbers, #1) by Annika Martin I want to read the rest of the series. So so hot this one. I don't really feel guilty about any books I read but this seems like the kind of book that might fit that category.

NEW: The Bride (Lairds' Fiancées, #1) by Julie Garwood Okay, maybe this is a guilty pleasure. Bodice rippers crack me up. This one takes place in Scotland so you get the best of both parts of this category!

3. Recommend a Historical romance or a book that is the first in a series.

TBR: You don't strike me as much of a historical romance kind of reader so I'm going with the first in a series for this one. Irresistibly Yours (Oxford, #1) by Lauren Layne I love Lauren Layne. Hadn't seen this one yet, so definitely adding it to my list.

NEW: Trinity (de La Vega Cats, #1) by Lauren Dane I was surprised how much I liked this one as I'm not much of a shifter romance girl but I rated it 4 stars.

4. Recommend a book with an HEA (happily ever after ending)

TBR: Lick (Stage Dive, #1) by Kylie Scott I love all of these in this series. Each one has an HEA and is standalone but it helps to read them in order so you get the background and see the characters progress.

NEW: If you like MM, this was such a cute (and hot) little story with an HEA. And it's free! Sixty Five Hours by N.R. Walker

5. Recommend a book with an unconventional character/couple or a book set in Australia

TBR: Colters' Woman (Colters' Legacy, #1) by Maya Banks

NEW: What Caroline Wants (Pushing the Boundaries #1) by Amanda Abbott It doesn't get much more unconventional (to me) than this book. I gave it four stars though despite the fact that it was slightly outside my comfort zone but still so so hot.

6. Recommend a longer book.
TBR: The Witness by Nora Roberts I think this is one of Nora's best and I'm not usually a big fan of her standalones. 757 pages

NEW: Divine By Mistake (Partholon, #1) by P.C. Cast This was recommended to me last round and I devoured it. 698 pages.

7. Recommend a Western/Cowboy/Rancher romance or any romance set in the U.S.

You have a lot of Cowboy romances on your list! Not a sub-genre I've read much of but here you go!

TBR: Corralled (Blacktop Cowboys, #1) by Lorelei James
TBR: Cherished (Delicious, #1) by Maya Banks (set in the U.S._

NEW: Montana Sky by Nora Roberts , one of her very best and it takes place on a ranch in Montana!
NEW: Loving Cara (Love Under the Big Sky, #1) by Kristen Proby , apparently I have a thing for ranchers in Montana

8. Recommend a book with red, green or white on the cover.

TBR: Red: Blood Brothers (Sign of Seven, #1) by Nora Roberts
TBR: Green: Protecting What's His (Line of Duty, #1) by Tessa Bailey
TBR: White: Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard, #1) by Christina Lauren

NEW: Red: Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas (my new book boyfriend)
NEW: Green: The Hooker and the Hermit by L.H. Cosway
NEW: White: At Any Price (Gaming the System, #1) by Brenna Aubrey

Whoa! So many suggestions. Thank you for going overboard. I actually struggle and reference multiple read and to read lists to try to gauge what my pickee might enjoy based on trends I notice and authors they have tried in the past. So thank you for putting so much effort into it for me. It inspires me to do the same for November. I will select from the list and update as I finish to let you know which ones I picked. Thanks again!

Both were okay. I had never read Rai and I understand this is a trilogy? 2 stars

I have read Dohner before and this one was good. I liked the premise and I liked the main characters. There was a lot of reference back to the heroine's husband, who passed away, which got in the way of their relationship. And the interaction between the brothers-in-law and the heroine was somewhat creepy. 3 stars

Thank you for including them in the list. I will continue onward.
