((Ditto.))
Ben was kicking himself about it.
Ben was kicking himself about it.
Abby got a handle on her emotions and unlocked the stall door. She looked in the mirror and splashed some water on her face to clear the tears and stains. She patted her face dry with the brown paper towels and frowned at her reflection. She hated her ugly brown eyes that looked like mud and brown blonde hair that looked like dirty water. She frowned even deeper when she noticed the pimple on the corner of her chin. No wonder no one liked her enough to be her friend or stick around for her. She was ugly, stupid, and way too shy. She checked under the stalls for feet, just to make sure no one had witnessed her break down and left the bathroom, sure she wouldn't fall apart anymore- today.

((I'm trying to find it. :P))
Ben heard Abby walk back in and turned to face her. "I'm sorry," he whispered.
Shannon sipped her cocoa and listened to the awkward silences that started to enclose the three people. Her thoughts found their way to Ben. How was that girl? What was he doing? Was he thinking about her?
"Shannon," Jordan almost shouted, bringing her back to reality.
"Oh, sorry!" She said and turned her attention back to them.

Ben studied her face carefully.
Ben shook his head and ruffled her hair, "Whatever you say, Kiddo."
Ben shrugged, not looking at her.
Ben chuckled, "Yeah, actually. She hates me, though. I think you two would be amazing friends or despice each other to the death."
"A girl? That hates... you?" Abby contorted her face into an exaggerated expression of mock shock. "Not the irresistible, perfect Ben!"

Ben laughed. "Pretty much."
Annana Flambe du Mort (Erica) wrote: "Ben laughed. "Pretty much.""
"Theeeere's a shock," Abby dragged out the words.
"Theeeere's a shock," Abby dragged out the words.
Ben laughed. "Yeah. She hates my guts even though I've saved her from diferrent people like 3 times..."
Ben sighed. "It's a long story, you sure you wanna hear it?"
Ben laughed then started, "It all started about... Six hours ago. I was walking down an alley, when I see these this girl up ahead being harrassed. I try to rush over to help, but this other girl beat me to it. She yelled the guy's ear out." he chuckled.
Abby smiled, and listened attentively. She hadn't realized how much she'd really missed the sound of her brother's voice.
Ben noticed how much he'd missed having a sister to talk to. "But then the idiot, whose name turned out to be Dave, starts harrassing her. I ran and tackled him and we got into a brawl, until finally I knocked him unconcious. Then I asked the girl if she was okay and she said she was. I introduced myself and found out her name's Shannon..." Ben grinned.
Ben laughed. "You wish. I asked Shannon what happened then told her that I thought she was pretty heroic. She made a sarcastic comment, then I made a sarcastic comment and then we both kinda glared at each other and left..."
Ben raised his eyebrows. "I know. So I come home all disoriented and bruised. I kinda looked like I did when Jay got mad at me," he winced at the memory, then continued, "Anyway, I'm trying to clean myself up when Shannon suddenly walks in. I can't even think straight and wonder if maybe I'm in someone else's apartment..."
"And then, all of a sudden, an anvil falls from the sky and you shove her out the way!" Abby grinned widely.
Ben rolled his eyes but ignored the comment. "It was my apartment. I kicked her out and it turns out she lives next door. So then we did like a billion things to annoy each other..."
"And you found out she was part of a secret government plot to take over the world," Abby couldn't resist throwing one more snarky comment at Ben.
"Then, some people snuck into her house and there was a crash and I was annoyed. I go over thinking, 'what now?!?'"
Ben smiled faintly. "Thats what I thought. So I knock on her door and she says that she's just fine, but I can hear the fear in her voice. I walk in and this guy who was trying to kidnap her jumps out the window. Shannon's all freaked out, but we both apologize and I help her lock the windows..."
"I get the feeling something's going on with this chick," Abby said. "Like someone's out to get her?"
Ben nodded. "Yeah. She got dragged off and I went after her and almost got her out. Then she decided she wanted some answers and went back," he rolled his eyes, "I stopped her after her second try and since I wasn't letting go of her, she kissed me. I still didn't let go and got het home buy she just ran off about fifteen minutes ago."
Abby's eyes widened when he mentioned the kiss. "Maybe she really couldn't resist you. But that's really weird. And it doesn't make sense."
But you know something else that doesn't make any sense? You did more to help some girl you barely know then you've ever done to help me in a long time.

"Yeah. I think I'm going insane. Anyway, it is way late, so you take the bed and I'll sleep on the couch," he said and yawned.
Abby was too tired to argue that he sleep in his own bed, so she just walked to his bedroom and collapsed on his bed. Even though she was deathly tired, she couldn't fall asleep so she just lay in bed thinking.
Ben sat there thinking for a few minutes before he went to check on Abby.
Abby rolled over onto her back, trying to keep the troubling images from her brain. David laughing at her haircut she'd been so proud of, Kyle ripping page by page out of her book. Josh standing back with a smug smile on his face. Brooke pretending to be her friend and then dropping her as soon as Josh commanded it. Her family, if you could call it a family. Jay slamming her into the wall time and time again, telling her she'd never be good enough. A message she had heard so many times she truly believed it. But as much as she wanted to cry the tears wouldn't come.
Ben leaned against the doorframe to his room. "Hey."
Abby tried to force her breathing to become even so Ben would think she was asleep. It always seemed to work in books.
