*****REPOST for proper ticket request*****

30.10 - Sandy's Task: Moving the Fences! -
Book 1 - The Visitors are up to bat. Read a book of your choice.

The Shining - i read the kindle edition, but the mass market paperback (The Shining) has 659 pages, more than enough for the task's 500-pages-total requirement (also for a Big Book ticket).

Average rating is 4.12.

Book 2 - Now the home team is up. Read a second book that has fewer pages than book 1 (moving the rope closer in), and that has a lower average rating than book 1 (lowering the rope). To mark 10 years of up to a 5 foot advantage, the second book must have at least 50 fewer pages than book 1 and an average rating at least.50 lower.

Death Turns a Trick has 177 pages, and its average rating is 3.46 - 0.66 lower than The Shining.

30.3 Ava Catherine’s task: Perspectives Over Time

For book one, I read Grey Mask, first published in 1928 - well before I was born (hey, it was before my mother was born!)

For book two, I read Parasite, published in 2013.

Neither book has the genre childrens or kids.

50.1 - Daphne's Task: Gone to the dogs - What's in a name?

For my first book, I chose option 1 and read Benjamin Franklin: An American Life. Benjamin Franklin died in 1790.

For my second book, I chose option 4 and read a nonfiction book about Rome - The Borgias and Their Enemies: 1431-1519. History is a main page genre, and the book is set primarily in Rome, while the Borgias were running the show at the Vatican.

For my third book, I chose option 6 and read Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void - science and several variations thereof are in the main page genres.

This is a TWO book task, and you must read TWO different options. REQUIRED: State in your post the options you chose.

The letters in HIP MUST appear in the title (not subtitle or series title) of each book. The letters H I P need not be sequential or in any particular order.

Option 1 – RICE - Read a book with a food item on the cover. REQUIRED - post cover and identify the food item if not clear
Friendship Bread by Darien Gee
Friendship Bread by Darien Gee

Option 2 - FOAM ROLLER – Give a second chance to an author you may not have liked in the past, who knows you may fall in love. REQUIRED: Briefly explain your answer - for example, gave a 1 or 2 star rating to another book by that author, or tried to read a book by the author and did not finish.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke

I tried to read the Candy Cane Murder by this author last Winter SRC, but couldn’t get into it. I don’t know if it was because I was trying to jump into an established series or because I’m not a huge fan of cozy mysteries, but I thought they seemed like fun light books so I thought I’d give the series a go from the beginning. I still don’t really like cozy mysteries, but the bakery and town are charming elements so I might continue on with these. I’m glad I gave the author/series a second chance.
