Hi team!Wow, so much happened while I was away!
My name is Inês and I'm from Portugal :)
I like to read pretty much any genre, although I don't usually enjoy romance or non-fiction.
I'll probably finish reading Scarlet today. :)
Marguerite wrote: "Hi Julianna!!!! What is Oslo Norway like?"Oh, difficult to describe. I like living here, the live is calmer here (I used to live in a big city full off traffic jam back in Brasil). We have amazing nature all around the city, and with good access to both fjord, river, mountain and forest.
The weather is one of the most challenge thing for me, it changes fast, the summers are too short and the winters too long for my tasting, but I'm adapting to this.

It's summer now, and I live in the center Portugal, so it's mostly sunny and VERY hot, usually about 35 C. :)

Sounds like wonderful weather, what are your winters like?

They're usually cloudy but don't often go below the 10 C. In my entire life, it has snowed once in my hometown, although the car windows sometimes ice in the mornings.

Sounds like winter is not that bad. But I would rather see snow than ice any day.smile

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to begin round 2!I'm from India, a full-time marketing professional who just loves to read pretty much anything under the sun. I love these group challenges because they really push me to explore and read more. I usually average about a book a week but I'm trying hard to up my numbers.
Looking forward to a fun round!

Good morning! (Or afternoon, or evening), how is everyone? Marguerite, there's not much to know about Winnipeg, the city where I live. It's right in the middle of Canada (east to west) and a couple hours north of the U.S. Border. It gets very hot in the summer, about +35 highs this week and very cold in the winter, -40s is completely normal. We're home of the famous band "The Guess Who" and have a very famous bear named after our city: Winnie the Pooh.

Hi team Vlad! It is so nice to meet you all. ☺️My name is Melissa I live in the U.S. ( right outside of Philadelphia PA) with my boyfriend of 6 years and my two daughters (11 and 10). I work full time in sales for a distributor and I'm going to school part time to get my associate degree.
Usually I read one or two books a week but I've been trying to step it up for this challenge.

I feel like I might have read a book similar to this one quite a while ago. the main character was a Chinese detective who liked poetry. I can't remember what the book was called, but I know it was good. It was before Goodreads, so I don't have a record of it. So far this one seems familiar, but I don't think it's the same book. Maybe I read another one in the series. I remember being fascinated by the description of daily Chinese lives.
Hi team! It's great to meet you all. I love how we are all spread out all over the world -- it makes these challenges so fun. I'm from the US (Raleigh, NC) where it is summer and HOT--but not for too much longer. I read primarily PNR, UF, YA and anything that has romance in it, but am open to reading just about anything. I am starting marathon training tomorrow, and have a 7 month old puppy who needs lots of walking, so I will be spending a lot of time on audiobooks coming up I think. :)
Happy reading everyone!

I live in Mumbai. Have you been to India?
Hi all! So many new people to say hi to. :) I'm Sarah, from England. I read pretty widely, but I can't say I get on with horror or chick-lit.I'm currently reading:
Open Season, 295 pages. I should be finished Mon or Tue.
1776, 386 pages. I'm listening to the audio of this and it'll take me at least a week to finish.
The Alchemist, 192 pages. This didn't grab me so I left it half finished when our South American author goal was covered. If it pops up again then I'm ready to go! Otherwise I need to finish it by the end of August so I can count it in another challenge, so if we don't get that goal in round 2 then I'll finish at the beginning of round 3.
Ah it's a shame "The Alchemist" didn't grab you, Sarah. I agree it isn't the quickest read but I found it quite interesting.

Hey dear, when I looked on the website, it was #361, maybe you missed it?
okay, I just double checked, i swear that when I checked yesterday it was there, was it possible that it moved? :(
but it's okay, oh wells. lol
Hello beautiful people! So much activity already while I was sleeping and at work! Great job everyone!
I'm from Baltimore, Maryland, in the states. Glad to be reading with wonderful people <3. I love books when I was younger, went through a dumb wild stage where I didn't read but have gone back to active reading since last summer when I found goodreads, and I am glad that I have. :) My favorite genre is dystopian. So if you have any recommendations I would be thrilled :)
Wellppp I work or babysit everyday, but I will read in every break or hours in between.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
Huh... when I looked through the list last night it was there as well?!
Seems like the list changed quite a bit! The Catcher in the Rye was not as far up in the list last night, and I can't remember seeing the Divergent books on there... Hmmmm.

Eldarwen wrote: "Huh... when I looked through the list last night it was there as well?!"SEE?! Thank goodness! I was starting to think I can't read numbers anymore LOL. I'm a little disappointed, I'm about two-thirds done, and was planning to finish by tonight. wahhh -____-
Does the list change daily/weekly or something?
Lucy wrote: "Does the list change daily/weekly or something?"
Good question.
Not sure how often it is updated but it is definitely quite different today from last night - slightly more than 12 hours ago from when I last checked.
As for the book, just finish it :-) It'll count for points one way or another and we might be able to use it for a future goal.

In other challenges I've done the book counts as long as you know the # and it was on the list when you started. Maybe it would be worth checking with the mods if you're that far along?
After all, if the list changes all the time, we could read a lot of books before we finished one that stayed on the list. :)
Agreed, Teri!
Would be an interesting way for torturing people but I don't think the mods are that evil ;-)

I've finished my book for the ghost goal!!GOAL: Read a book where a character is a ghost
Sapphire Blue
Pages: 354
Goal: James - school ghost

Teri-k wrote: "I finished Macbeth. It's been a long time, I'd forgotten how really good it is. :)Is someone reading X or are we going to use a boon? I've lost track..."
I think someone is reading the X book.
Once the spreadsheet is updated we will get new goal.We can use either of the books for the ghost goal. Sapphire Blue had a character whose name began with an X so I don't know if we would want to save that in case we ended up with tht goal..?
Either works for me - I'm going to work on Across the Universe now. :)
Please account for time differences ladies! Captains aren't always instantly around to update the spreadsheet to get us new goals :-)
Karrie was going to read an X book, yes. It needs to be an X author, so "Saphhire Blue" is sadly not going to work, but good to know there's an X character in there!! We'll have to keep that in mind in case we snatch up such a goal hehe.
No worries, Ashley :-)
Round II works on the same principle as round I, so as soon as one goal is accomplished, the spreadsheet will generate a new goal. We'll just have double the goals to work on since two teams have been thrown together.

You know, I've read my share of Shakespeare plays, but I've never actually read "Macbeth". I should really remedy that!

Yep - we have teammates from all over the world. I mentioned the X character only because both books beng used for thd ghost goal were completed and wasnt sure which one you guys wanted to use. I thought sincd X is a tough one
sorry cant edit on my Nook lolanyway since X was a tough one I would mention it in case we wanted to hold that book. whatever everyonr wants to do is fine with me :)
I'll leave that one up to Karen to decide, but you're right, holding it might be an idea as well. Since we're currently on an evil goal streak, we might just hit an X character goal soon hehe.
Hi new teammates! I am from the Louisiana, USA. Small town girl here. I work full time, am married 14 years now, together 16, and I have 4 kids, a boy(20 in a few days), and three girls(15, 13, and almost 10). I am as avid a reader as time will allow and that doesn't ever seem to be enough.

Yes, you should. lol Watching MacBeth and Lady M develop is fascinating. And it has some of his best phrasing, I think. Also, the action is quick and not hard to follow at all. I read all the general info in the book, then read along while listening to an audio book of the play. Like my own personal performance.
I've decided to revisit Shakespeare one play at a time. I think Midsummer's Nights Dream is up next...
