Apokripos (apokalypse) | 3321 comments I had a great time reading Night Shift by Stephen King! Anyone interested in his works or horror in general, this is a good place to start, guys.

Lord of the Flies will be the next one for me this is one of the books that heavily influenced King. And I've been meaning to read this novel for the longest... Matagal na siyang nakatambak. I'm surprised that I'm getting in the story right now and so engrossed. A far cry when I gave up on reading it a year ago.

Ariel Acupan | 390 comments If we are going to vote for the Most Influential Reviewer sa Filipino group, ikaw ang iboboto ko.

@Aaron; I agree w/ Kuya Doni, you should charge the authors when you push their books. (or you already did, how much? Share ka naman jan) hahahaha

@Kuya Doni: I remember saying that I think I'm addicted to acquiring and reading books, at alam mo ba (leans closer and whispered) "si Aaron ang Book Pusher ko"

Ayan Aaron, pinagkakalat ko na pag lumaki kita mo as book pusher libre mo na kami next meet-up. hahahaha

Aaron Vincent (aaronvincent) | 2053 comments Sira ka talaga Ariel! I'm doing it for free. They gave me pleasure, I will give them promotions. If they earn a lot of money they will be inspired to write more and if they write more, I have more to enjoy. I think thats the ideal give and take relationship between an author and a reader. hehehe

Ako dapat ang ilibre mo Ariel. Sa dami mo na ng naenjoy na books na nirecommend ko, I think I deserve a bonus! hahaha

Aylavet! My friend just returned my copy of Life of Pi, which to date is the most expensive book I ever bought at Booksale. Its a huge hardbound book with very interesting illustrations. Actually mukha shang children's book. I really enjoyed reading it particularly about Pi's interest with religion. And of course, I love Richard Parker.

Apokripos (apokalypse) | 3321 comments "Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood." Once again blame it on my stupidity. I never knew "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding is soo good it all at once satiates my craving for adventure, the shifting dynamics of power politics, and its all encompassing theme of whether we humans are in nature good (within the operating borders of society) or evil (under the stresses of living in a primitive world where our baser instincts/emotions pervade). Disturbing in a good way! No wonder it's one of Stephen King's favorite novels.

I would definitely recommend it to anybody who love to read good classic fiction. One problem I encounter with the book is its use of British colloquialisms and slang words in the 50s so that might put you down a bit, which I experience too when I tried to read the book during the previous year. Good thing I found my Arrow British Dictionary that really helped. What I attracted me to it is the theme of the book about human nature. I'm looking forward how will events will turn up... who'll have the upper hand: is it Ralph or Jack. Civility vs. Savagery! Yeah! \m/

Nakita ko rin yan. Expensive nga. I liked Life of Pi. Kaya lang maraming detractors yan. For one, ang ayaw ko dyan eh parang binaligtad sa dulo ang binasa mo ng pagkahaba-haba. Ilusyon lang daw ang tungkol sa mga hayop. Hayup! Sayang ang time mo. Parang Alice in Wonderland. Panaghinip lang ang lahat. Hayup!

Ah, nakakamiss SM San Lazaro. Maganda choices dun; I tend to spend a lot relative to other booksale branches, but I haven't been there lately.

Speaking of "Lord of The Flies", I join the consensus in saying that it's also one of my favorite books. It's well written, fast paced that you really feel like a part of the group. I love how it illustrates that disintegration of society, more so by using children to push that point. By the way, if I were a character in that book, I think I'll end up as poor Piggy or Simon. Ehehehe

As for me I relate with Simon's character a lot. Mukhang magiging tragic ang mangyayari sa kanya... [sad:]
