Put it down and move to another book! Sayang the time..."
oo nga Bluemoon, ako naman my rule is if I can't get past the 3rd chapter, i move on to another book na hehe

Nice book, Jzhunagev! I love love that book."
I'm still hoping a copy of The Kite Runner would pop up in one..."
Suugest you read the book first. The book comes to life when you watch the film.:D

Once again, thanks, Lai! ^_^

Hehe I've read The Historian, Bluemoon, ganda sha, because of that book, I bought Dracula (Bram Stoker).

And because of that Dracula will come and visit you when you sleep. And scare the living day lights out of you and suck you dry!
Ahahahaha!! :D
Ito ang mga totoong vampire! Nasty, scary and by the mere mention of their names sends shivers down your spine. Unlike those "sagas" that "watered down" their reason of being and their essence.
Since I'm talking vampire here I would like to recommend I Am Legend. Its waaaayyyyy different than the recent Will Smith movie. Plus, it was a former group book and I like to know what's your opinion on that, thanks! ☺☺☺

Woah. I must read that then. I was never freaked out by a book. Well, Hannibal Lecter series disturbed me but being disturbed is different from freaking out, right?!

Since reading a review of the book, I've always been captivated by this horrendous but short description from that book:
“Sometimes they find shriveled heads, or the remains of a baby on a barbecue.”
I swear the first time I read it, I'm almost on the verge of puking and I was reminded by that Cannibal Holocaust movie. (Burp!)
If ain't that the stuff that make nightmares, then tell me, what gives?
Ehehehehe!!! ☻☻☻

"
You've seen "Cannibal Holocaust"? Saan ka nakanood? I'm dying to see that movie but I can't find a copy :(

Pero dahil naman nurse ka Maryse, ehhh sisiw na lang sa iyo ang mga makikita mo. So I say just be wary of the sex scenes and yung pagtuhog dun sa babae from mouth to anus... parang lechon type... ganun...
oopps! Sorry for others who've read this....
I guess I've ruined your appetite...
Bye-bye lunch... T_T
Ahehehehehe!!!! ☻☻☻

Hehe, I agree jzhunagev. Last Sunday, I was reading the papers and there was a sort of review about The Road, the girl who made it said one reading of the book was enough na daw because just seeing the cover makes her feel depressed. She said Nick Hornby's review was what prompted her to go read the book

Ahehehehe!
Cheers to Sunday paper readers!! ☺☺☺

I'm a fan of Sunday broadsheets kasi since we were young, my father made us read editorials. Of course when I was just 11, i kinda loathed it hehe. We have 3 papers every Sunday: PDI, The Star & I buy Manila Bulletin. I read The Star almost everyday when I have the time, gusto ko kasi ang writers nila, esp Jessica Zafra and F Sionil Jose. When I was in highschool I was collecting "Young Star" pa because of their lifestyle pieces hehe, they're in the bodega na. Ako din I clip articles about book reviews from The Star naman, yung mga kay Scott R. Garceau & Christian Ocier (yung column nya na Pulp Addiction)and any other good reviews. Yung "Three Cups of Tea", I read it off Gina Lopez's column last year-it made her cry daw kaya I got a copy. I also clip articles from the Travel Now section. ;)
Mabuhay ang Sunday papers and their readers! ;)

Never watch PS I Love You then, it got me crying for like an hour the 1st time I saw it.

It's a good thing you didn't watch "If Only" starring Jennifer Love Hewwit. I swear you'll cry buckets of tears. But for me, movie made me think if such a thing happens. But I thought I was melancholic for a day or two. Just want to hug someone at that time badly. Well, if you're in the mood to mop your floors then I suggest you go and watch "If Only."

Yung Pulp Addiction I also clip it. Kaso minsan sobrang engrossed si Mr. Ocier sa mga reviews niya feeling ko he mentions some spoilers. Like the time when a review of his of Margaret Atwood's The Year of the Flood, it seems he gave some important plot points that I found are key to understanding the book. But, man, I love how he critiques books! I wish I could write reviews just like him and what d'you'know! Baka STAR Columnist na rin ako. BTW, I did my on-the-job training at the STAR. It was fun, but stressful not to mention a pressure. But I gotta say they give the best allowance! Ahahahaha!! ☺☺☺

@jzhunagev: OJT at The Star? cool!

Cge. I'll look for it in Quaipo. Thanks ;)
Actually, the "lechon" thing was the only thing I saw from another movie and that made me interested about Cannibal holocaust. :)

weeehooo....!!!!!"
Tell me what you think Bluemoon, this book broke my heart.

I read LOTR way back in college and when i saw the films, wow , they blew me away!
I can't wait for the movie version of Breaking Dawn. I'd like to see the director's interpretation of that great vampire congregation.
Inkheart's been made into a movie too but havent seen it yet.

that book is really, really awesome!!

yeah, im kinda excited on how they would show the whole vampire clans thing.. with their diff powers and all..

weeehooo....!!!!!"
i really, really cried on that book. seriously. the way i cried when i read Tuesdays with Morrie.

ps ilove you book was WAY better than the movie.

Talaga? =D wow, thanks. That would be awesome, Kuya Doni, but I don't know how I can get it from you. I suppose during the meet-up nalang, if that ever comes around? :)

Talaga? =D wow, than..."
Ohhh and then we can watch it!
Ahahahaha!! :D
Kidding!
I'm reading The Kite Runner and just down a hundred a pages it's swelling my throat; I didn't know this one turns out to be "dramatic."

Talaga..."
Yes, it is dramatic. Just don't watch the movie adaptation. It sucks!

Dramatic to the point of breaking your heart. I'm so close to crying. That's why I just read this one at home. Kasi baka pag sa LRT2 magtaka na lang bigla yung mga tao bakit ako umiiyak. Sabihing siraulo pa ko...
ehehehehe...
What I like in the book is the insight about Muslim life, traditions, customs, etc especially about Afghanistan.
I weep for Hassan and Kamal.
I don't know about you Bluemoon, but I think this may not be a good book for you. Saying that, I bear in mind that you like your book as an escape to the real world. Well, this one's a harsh portrait of Afghanistan and its continued bloodletting. However, there's something tugging at me that this will all turn out for good.
My warm regards and happy reading! ^_^

Ahehehehe... ☺☺☺

I'll check it out in my bookstore.
thanks poh!"
It is a nice book, Bluemoon. That one I can guarantee. Buy A Thousand Splendid Suns also. I actually liked it better. Pagsunurin mo na ang pagbasa sa kanila. You will not regret it. May mga namamatay pero may redeeming value sa dulo. Besides, people die, we will all die.

I'll check it out in my bookstore.

Agree with Doni. But i liked the movie, too though admittedly it aint as good as the book. I guess when you have such a splendidly written story, it would really be tough canning it into a 2hour max film version.

Reading a book is not a race. As readers our primary concern is how much the message of the book got through us and how we enjoyed it.
My warm regards and happy reading!! ^_^

A Thousand Splendid Suns is a heartwarming book. I like it so much. That book starts my interest in reading books about Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and the likes. That's the reason I read "Three Cups of Tea" and "A Hundred and One Days", both good reads (non-fiction).

Whew! Know I'm bracing just long that will took me... ☺☺☺

can't help but love the book right? i suggest you read next a kilig book after..(to help you move on haha!) try Whitney, My Love by Judith McNaught..

The Book Thief made me feel "down" for days. But I had no regrets. It was one great book. I Am the Messenger is nice too. :)

Check out Places in Between by Rory Stewart, non-fiction. The writer tried to walk across Afghanistan in 2002 and tells the story of how he survived it.

That one sounds interesting, Lai. I'll go and check the book out! Thenks! ☺☺☺

I'm still hoping a copy of The Kite Runner would pop up in one of my Booksale hunting trips hehe but I've got a copy of the film, parang gusto ko muna mabasa yung book ;)
