Good luck Kourt!!!

I had five new hires start yesterday - that was a lot of paperwork. Holy crap. LOL

And I've got two phone interviews set up for tomorrow. One new hire to start Tuesday next week, but trying to add to that.

So here's my random for today - I'm tired. I've been tired for over a month now. It's frustrating. My mom thought it was because we were busting our butts trying to get all this stuff done for the move and the remodel, but all that's over and I'm still tired. I don't know if it's because of the new job and having to get up earlier or what. I can't hardly make it past 9pm and when I get home after work, I don't want to do anything. And I'm tired of being tired.

I actually found myself with some energy Monday and managed to get a few things done before running out of time. Which is the other problem, when I force myself to get off my ass and do stuff, I run out of time to get all the things I wanted to get done, done.

Saw the doctor a few weeks ago and mentioned it to her, she wants me to get some blood tests done to more closely check how effective my thyroid medicine is, but now that I don't have insurance (until August 1st), I have to wait to have that done. :/

message 406: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Do you think it's because of the new job? For the longest time you had a job where you had a lot of free time on your hands and it didn't challenge you, and now you are going going going all day long at work learning so many new things. I know how tired I would be after interacting with people all day, so I can only imagine you're just getting used to it. That's my vote and I hope that's all it is :)

And you think all your paperwork is bad?!?! I would LOVE IT when a state like Michigan had a new hire! You should see the amount of paperwork generated for a CA new hire!!! And the terminations?! Don't get me started!

message 407: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments And thank you Stacy for following! I had read HOlly's inbox a while ago but decided to do the review as though I just read it since I just finished re-reading it. I can't remember the sequel at all, so it's like I'm reading that for the first time :)

GOOD NEWS: the interview went VERY well! I am being moved forward to the next round, so hopefully the hiring manager will select me for a second phone interview.

BAD NEWS: I will most likely be watching my emails like a hawk today in hopes of hearing something (the recruiter is presenting all resumes this morning). Also day 2 of sore throat. And I can't find my Taebo DVD's!!! Frustrating day!

Suzanne | 767 comments Stacy - I am tired all the time, too. Hope you get some answers.

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Hello everyone!

Stacy my vote is the new job and adjusting to a new routine.

Kourtney I hope the interview went well.

Good random: I had a job interview this week. Another position within the library for more money. I also have a big giveaway on my blog that will be posted either tonight or tomorrow evening! I have been waiting on some prizes to arrive to include in the picture.

message 410: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 767 comments Here's my random thought. I wish I either had more time to read or could read faster! I am not the fastest reader and cannot finish a book in 1-2 days. I have SO many books to read right now, though! I am thinking of taking a day off to just lay around and read! haha. I can't afford to go on a trip this year, and I need to use my vacation days anyway, so why not? :) I also need to stop requesting library books because every time I do, they all come in at the same time! Not to mention I have enough books at home & on my Kindle to keep me busy! Right now I'm reading 3 different books, which I usually don't like to do. Hopefully I can finish at least 1 this weekend!

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments I'm about 3 books behind but...

good news: I'm about to have a ton of time to read on my hands! Because...

Bad news: I won't be seeing my boyfriend for the month of June. His dad is coming out and then he travels for work, so I won't see him until my birthday next month :( Sad me!

And the phone interview went REALLY WELL...don't get excited for me though because even though it went well the recruiter put me through to the manager, and then they reposted the job with additional "requirements" of which I don't meet. I haven't heard back from them at all and would still be sitting here waiting waiting waiting had I not stumbled across the job posting. Oh well. I guess there's something else out there for me.

Now if only I could finish Eleanor & Park...

Kourtney, I LOVED Gone Girl. I didn't have too high of expectations for it, though. I heard such great things, but I didn't think it was my type of book. Well, I was wrong because I thought it was really well written and couldn't stop reading. One weekend I stayed up an entire night because I just had to finish it. I do want to read more of her books eventually, but like you all said, so many books, so little time :)

I haven't read Eleanor & Park yet. I'll keep you guys posted on what I think.

Suzanne | 767 comments I loved Eleanor and Park! When I went to Omaha a couple months ago to visit a friend, we even went to the places Eleanor & Park went to on their date. ;) It was fun!

message 429: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments I finished Eleanor & Park last night...I don't know...I just couldn't connect with them. I found myself drawn to the family and Tina storylines, but not the "romance" between them. All of my friends who read this had given it 4 or 5 stars - I guess I'm the lone wolf on this one.

message 430: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Kourtney, that's okay. I feel ya. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person I've ever met who didn't love Frozen. I thought it was way too predictable. It was so overhyped that I had SUCH high expectations for it. That was probably the problem. Maybe I just need to watch it again.

message 431: by Julie (new)

Julie Hi Ladies! I have been seriously MIA the last two weeks. After having a reading bonanza while camping over Memorial Day Weekend, my reading pace slowed to a near-halt. Jodi Picoult is my very favorite author, but Picture Perfect was an absolute chore to finish!

Combine that, with the fact that I am buying my first home, and it has left me absolutely no time to post or comment lately.

My house closes on July 8th, so hopefully I will have a lot more time after that.

Of course, I am starting on The Fault in Our Stars, and I have a feeling this one will keep me up at night reading "just one more page".....

Oooo speaking of movies that came from books, I watched Life of Pi last week. Somehow I never read the book, though I heard some people had to read it in school. For some reason none of my English classes made me read it. And I didn't think I was going to like it, based on the movie cover of a guy on a boat with a tiger??? No thank you. But anyway, ended up watching it last week and I loved it!! Definitely mad at myself now for not reading the book first.

Julie, that's amazing that you are buying your first home!!

Moving is so stressful...we decided Monday that we are moving this coming Sunday. We were going to do it the weekend after, but no movers were available other than this coming weekend. So today is Thursday and not only have we not started packing but also don't even have boxes yet. Haha! I'm getting some from a friend today, though. She works at Z Gallerie and I guess on Thursdays they have a bunch of empty boxes that they just throw away.

So yes, packing all Thursday and Friday night, going to a wedding Saturday night, then movers are coming really early Sunday. I think it won't be that bad, though, since we aren't doing any heavy lifting. Just supervising the movers. Oh, the life of impulsive decisions. Haha.

I have been out of the loop for a bit. As I'd said in another post, last week was kind of rough - I've found that the downside to HR is having to let people go that you hired and feeling like a jerk even though it wasn't your decision - which actually continued into this week. It's been a rough couple of weeks.

Plus, my daughter absconded to the basement with my computer and I've been so tired at night that I didn't even want to go down there to get it. I know, too tired to go down and up a dozen stairs, really? Yeah, that's been me lately. In fact, I went down once last weekend (she was playing it so I couldn't steal it) to do laundry and left a shirt on the drying rack to dry. I went down last night to go get it and did not discover until I put it on this morning that it smells basementy. :( I tried to Febreeze it, but it was while I had it on (I was in a hurry), and I didn't quite get the whole thing I guess because I am now sitting here smelling like a basement infused with lavender. Interesting and not all that pleasing of an odor. I'm actually very tempted to run to a store on my lunch to buy a shirt to change in to when I get back.

I really shouldn't be on here because I still have a TON of organizing to do with files (both electronic and hard copy), but I wanted to jump on real quick and see what everyone is up to.

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Ok everyone. Time for this week's good random/bad random. Ready and...GO!

Good random: I've started writing again!! Haven't done this in a while but I was hit with inspiration to write an article for a magazine type publication and an actual book. I can't give details on either just yet (you'll know why soon). I forgot how exhausting but liberating it feels to get your thoughts down on paper. Now that I've opened this door again I have to carry a notebook with me for when an idea hits. Finding the time to write on the other hand...yikes. Bought a keyboard for my ipad so lets see if that helps!

Bad random: I've fallen behind in my reading challenge by 4 books! I've never been so bad before... *shame*

Sorry I have been unavailable for a while. Stacy that really does stink with your new position. Hopefully it will get better.

Good random: Mom gets her cast off today. I just found out that I get to go back to Myrtle Beach.

Bad random: It is Monday and it is long.

Julie Hi Ladies!

Been so busy the last few weeks. Sounds like all of you are doing okay.

Kourtney--Wow, writing, that is awesome!

Stacy--Hope your organizing is just about done. There is nothing worse than having a task like that hanging over your head.

Jencey--Yay for your Mama getting her cast off. Sounds like great progress!

Good Random: I'm pretty much prepared for my garage sale this weekend.

Bad Random: It's supposed to friggin' rain this weekend (of course) :(

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
Kourtney - that's awesome! Can't wait to find out more! And also, I suck at my challenge too. I think 75 books may have been too aggressive of a number for this year....as I get closer to the end of the year, I may change it. Once fall/winter hits again, I have a feeling things may slow down when it comes to having so many places to go on the weekends. I know what part of it is though, I have to sweep up a crap load of dog hair every day. Greg, or I should now say "we," have an English Lab that sheds like a mother F-er. Every day, I sweep up enough hair to cover a chihuahua - no joke. And that doesn't include the hair that has blown under the couch, because I'm just way too lazy to clean under there on a regular basis, LOL.

Jencey - so glad for your mom!! And Myrtle Beach? Take me with you!! :) Have fun and get lots of sun!

Julie - Good luck with your garage sale, hopefully the rain holds off, we need to do one of those soon! Probably in a couple of weeks.

Good Random - I came into work this morning to no internet or access to the network drive. Internet is obviously working now, but still no network drive which means I still can't do a whole lot.

Bad Random - That means, I have to go back to organizing employee files. LOL

Another good random - Company picnic at Cedar Point this weekend. I haven't been there since 1997, so I'm excited! We have some friends going with us too so it should make for a pretty good sized group. :)
