Disappearing Earth
Very good so far as long as I don’t concentrate too hard on the unfamiliar Russian names!

What did you think of it, Carlene? It is one of my favourite classics. So dark and full of angst. One of the few books I reread.
I've just finished
and have started
by New Zealand author Tina Clough - her sequel to
. I'm doing well with my reading challenge, having read 10/18 books by female authors, but only 7/18 books by New Zealand authors, so it has to be a Kiwi book next!

What ..."
There are certain parts that I've read that I get very lost in, I think it comes from the word choice and format or style of writing at that time that maybe confuses me? So it's been a slow read, I've returned it because I wanted to focus on the book pool but will probably pick it up later.
The Girl Who Reads on the Métro by Christine Féret-Fleury
After finishing
, I've started reading the second book in the series
. The author has a humorous style which makes reading about radical Islamists, from the protagonist's Muslim point of view, real and absorbing. A great crime series.
Heart of Iron
which is typical YA. Predictable plot, no depth to the characters... but an enjoyable enough read. Also
Double-edged Sword: The Simonne Butler Story which is harrowing in parts.
I'm a third of the way through
, the second book in the series. Having worked at the Roman Fort of Vindolanda for the past four years, I love being able to "live" the Roman history through the books of Adrian Goldsworthy.
Hmmm, I'm reading
. Not sure that it's doing a good job of grabbing my attention yet. I will persevere a little longer.
