Megan L Harnett | 806 comments I finished my second pick Fangs for the Memories (Young Brothers, #1) by Kathy Love . It was good. Thanks for the pick Diane -Firefly!

message 405: by Jojo (new)

Jojo | 1010 comments Hi Jaime I finished Downtime last night. This is a new author to me but it was a freebie from Amazon and involves time travel which I always enjoy. I liked the idea of a modern investigator tracking down Jack the Ripper but I did feel though that a gay man from now would be more concerned about the threat of prison for being discovered in the Victorian age. But overall it was a very good read.

message 406: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1010 comments I finished 2 more picks.

Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep -Diane~Firefly
I gave this one 3 stars. I liked it well enough but I just couldn't understand her dogged determination to have Caine. That whole affair cost the book a star. Hardcore assassin wants a piece of straight and arrow cop, no matter that he is disgusted with her. He's HAWT, so it's okay. It just didn't fit, IMO. However, I enjoyed the rest of the story and will be reading more from this series.

Head Over Heels (Lucky Harbor, #3) by Jill Shalvis - KarenH (also picked by Becca and Zara)
5 Stars! It was fan-freaking-tastic! I've been waiting for their story since the first book. Loved everything about it. And Sawyer *swoons*, he was amazing. I mean he freaking researched asthma and sex! And bought her a nebulizer. I would love to go to these fictional towns that are full of hot alpha males. I'm happily married but a vacation of sightseeing sounds good to me :)

Nicole - the series does address that issue and just keeps getting better. I also only gave Spider's Bite 3 stars, but only one other book out of 9 scored that low, with book 3 getting one of my very rare 5 star ratings.

Good! I've heard that it does get better and I may have peeked ahead in the series blurbs for clues :) The coveted 5 star at book 3 huh? Well then, I'm looking forward to that!

@Grace-- I finished Wrath and it was really great. I'm just lovin' this series so far and can't wait to continue.

message 412: by Karla (new)

Karla ~Melissa~ - I've finished Almost Perfect by Julie Ortolon. I'll give it three stars. I liked parts of it, but there were lines that were just so stupid! "finger cuddle", really?! I will be reading the rest of the trilogy, though. Thanks for recommending it.

Glad you enjoyed it! Bigtime is by far my favorite series of hers, so I was sad to hear that she had to abandon it after Jinx came out. She's now self publishing the stories, which is why we have Nightingale. However, Gin and the Mythos Acadamy have taken up so much of her time, we haven't had anything new in Bigtime since Nightingale. I'm hoping, that with Mythos Academy ending, we can see more stories in Bigtime soon. I, for one, want to see Swifte's story!

Turtlecollector Dennis | 195 comments Finished 4 of my books so far:

@~Melissa~: 4.5 stars Wild Man (Dream Man, #2) by Kristen Ashley is definitely a favorite and I finished off the rest of that series as well. I couldn't put them down.

@MountainKat: 4 stars Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy was very good, I hadn't realized I had already read #3 and #4 in that series awhile ago, so I was glad to get back to it

@Anayh: 4 stars The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton I am definitely going to put the rest of this series on my list, thanks for the pick.

@Skandia: 4 stars Red's Hot Cowboy (Spikes & Spurs, #2) by Carolyn Brown was a nice fast paced romance and worked well to give me breaks from some heavier books I was reading.

message 424: by ~Melissa~ (new)

message 426: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1245 comments FINALLY finished a book for this challenge. I read Karla's pick for me, The Perfect Ghost, and liked it. This was one of those books that you couldn't tell if you were supposed to like or hate the main character/narrator. Super big twist in the end that caught me by surprise! Thanks for the pick, Karla!

I am about half way through A Discovery of Witches and I'm just not that into this book. I hate to admit that because EVERYONE is always recommending this book to me and I FINALLY started it only to be slogging through it. I just can't seem to connect with the characters and I'm quickly growing tired of the diary like writing style of describing every detail of everything the character is doing. I will finish it so here's hoping I like the last half better than the first half...

Melissa - I remember it took my quite a while to get into A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness too. Was really good towards the end. That said I haven't picked up book 2 yet. It was the same for me with
A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter wasn't til over halfway in that I started to like it. Hopefully it will get better for you!

Melissa, it was the same for me with A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness . But hang on , things start to happen towards the end and I'm quite intrigued to pick up the second book but still hesitating if it's the same slow building as first.

And a big thanks to you, Melissa, for recommending Exit Strategy (Nadia Stafford, #1) by Kelley Armstrong for me. It was really good and I loved it! Kelley Armstrong is sooooo good even with the mystery.

message 430: by Kai (new)

message 434: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments finished #5 & 6!

Mine (Real, #2) by Katy Evans - lurrved delving into the relationship a bit deeper, but was slightly weirded out by the co-dependency thingy. still, verra hot.

First Comes Marriage (Huxtable Quintet #1) by Mary Balogh - MB is my GR most read author... this one wasn't her best, but it's rare that a typical regency works in longer form.

Thanks Amie & Pam!

message 436: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1010 comments I finished picks 4-6.

Mandy S- The Wedding (Lairds' Fiancées, #2) by Julie Garwood *2/10 ★★★☆☆
It floored me that I didn't absolutely love this like I was expecting to. I listened to the audio and if it had been Rosalyn Landor or even Susan Duerden, that might have made a difference. I'm a little biased, me thinks. *shrugs* Who knows.

Elizabeth- Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead *2/12 ★★★★☆
I really enjoyed this. It wasn't too complicated and I loved the cast of characters. I don't think I've ever read a book that was so full of immortals clutching their humanity so closely. Usually it's just the main character, but they were all a bit like that. Looking forward to the next one!

Zara- The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion *2/12 ★★★★★
I started off giving this 4 stars but I kept telling people about it and thinking about it, so I bumped it up and added it to my favorites. It was adorable! Sheldon falls in love! I recommend the audio, it was great.

message 438: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabeth_greece) | 1918 comments I finished 3 more picks, The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1) by Kady Cross , Exquisite (Exquisite, #1) by Ella Frank and Fish & Chips (Cut & Run, #3) by Madeleine Urban . I enjoyed all three, especially Fish & Chips was the best in the series so far.
Thanks Sarah, beppy and Becca for the recs!

message 439: by Karla (new)

Karla Finished my second book for the challenge, Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. Thanks Angi, (and Larissa, Anayha, and Melissa) for the nudge to read it. I really enjoyed it! I wish it was a whole series, I liked Emma.

message 440: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31683 comments Well, shoot - I just went to update my list and realized I never typed it up and posted it! Good thing I have it on a stickie on desktop! Better get on that!

Anywho, I just finished my third pick Untamed by Pamela Clare. Loved it!! Thanks Grace for giving me another reason to read it!

I also started another pick today, A Touch of Midnight and am about 30%. So far so good! I also managed to get another pick to work for both the audiobook challenge and PtP - how awesome is that?!

message 441: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 2097 comments I finished my third pick and have started my fourth.

Thanks Angi - for my pick. Listened to Seducing Cinderella (Fighting for Love, #1) by Gina L. Maxwell on audible. Enjoyed this first in a series book about the world of MMA. Not sure how realistic it is that the MMA guy can give fashion advice but still a quick enjoyable read/listen. I've just started doing a few audio books - maybe it's me but I feel like they should have a male and a female narrator for the books. The male voice hasn't been a good female voice and a women's voice - not always good as a man. Like I said could just be me but I can fit in an extra book or two a month doing it this way, lol.
I'm still going to try to get to Something About You (FBI / US Attorney, #1) by Julie James this month too.

I've just started Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley - I'm only a few chapters in and it also works for two Team challenges this week ~ love when that happens.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Update time:

I have just finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (Millennium, #3) by Stieg Larsson and absolutely loved it. Thanks Becca!

Rise of the Fallen (All the King's Men, #1) by Donya Lynne - I liked the premise of this story. I will read the next in the series for sure. Thanks Larissa :)

Hotter After Midnight (Midnight, #1) by Cynthia Eden - I have had this on my shelf for over 3 years. I did enjoy it but not sure I'll continue that series. Thanks for the push Lili (and it fit in very nicely with the FAC author this month ;)

Secrets (PsyCop, #4) by Jordan Castillo Price - it has been a while since I read the previous book, so it took me some time to get my bearings, but I did really enjoy it. Thanks Victoria!
