I finished The Lowland and it was great, looking forward to reading some more of Lahiri's work in the future.
I am 60% through The Goldfinch and I cannot put it down. It's exactly the sort of subject matter that I love, family dysfunction, secrets, growing up, all told over a long time period, everything!

A few people have mentioned that they have Middlesex on their TBR. I love that book too, actually it ties for top book ever with East of Eden. There are similarities between Middlesex and The Goldfinch actually, so if any of you have read either and enjoyed it, then you'll probably enjoy the other. And both Pulitzer Prize winners too!

Finished Daddy's Gone A-Hunting another New Orleans 1930s noir. This one was a bit more complicated than the others. Still holding my interest for the series.

Over the winter I bought the audible daily deal after falling asleep with my phone completely on accident and unknown to me until seeing on my booklist. It was My Mother Was Nuts by and read by Penny Marshall who I now know was Laverne from Laverne and Shirley. I own it so I said heck might as well listen only 7 hours long. Surprisingly so far I'm enjoying it. Still sounds like Laverne and still a funny woman.

I am doing a collection of books for schools - a few of my friends have taken time off from work to work for the Teach For India program. The intent is to collectbooks to set up libraries in these schools in low income areas. Collecting books from donors means long bus rides in Mumbai traffic, and I ill time by reading a few of the books that have been donated. Range from Gene Brewer's K-Pax, Dashiell Hammett mystery novels, Jonathan Kelerman slashers to The Illiad. :-D

I finished The Angel's Game which was for a buddy read. I really enjoyed it but not quite as much as 'The Shadow of the Wind'. I gave it 4 stars but my actual rating would be 4.5 stars.

I am continuing with The Count of Monte Cristo for the chunkster challenge and I think it is really good so far.

Just finished listening to The Sisters Brothers for this months family themed group read. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I was going to. Now on to another audio with The Black Country which also allows me to finish another series (well until the next book comes out). I am also starting Temeraire which I'm really looking forward to.

I keep trying to decide if I should spend my next credit on The Black Country or not. I have 7 pages on my audible wishlist, and every time I take a peek at it, indecision reigns. Maybe I'll let you read it first and hear your verdict before I decide.

I actually bought it on kindle in a daily deal a few months back and now it's become available for free on my library app so I've decided to listen to it instead, although I do have the option of picking up the kindle version if I really get in to it. I liked the first one much more than I thought I was going to so I am optimistic about this one. I will let you know. I've downloaded it, or at least it appears in my downloads, but I can't get it to play as yet. I emailed support so hopefully the fault will be fixed by the time I want to listen to it on the way to work!

I finished the 2nd book in the Dire Earth Cycle The Exodus Towers and it ended with a cliffhanger. So... I started #3 The Plague Forge. I am going to be crushed if this one ends the same way. I am almost done with The Bees.

I had to abandon The Black Country unfortunately as it won't play in the audio app. So that has gone back on my TBR for now and I'm now going to listen to Twelve Years a Slave although I'm not sure how I'll get in with it as I tend to struggle with memoirs.
