I'm listening to The Invisible Bridge for the chunkster challenge, and it's very good. The characters are from Hungary and it's set around the second world war. The build-up of the story is beautiful, and it really draws you in.

Roz wrote: "I'm definitely one of the "love it" crowd."Yes, you and Chrissie were definately in the 'Love it' camp, Roz. :)
A lot of folks in the group have flagged it TBR.
It is getting to be more and more of a challenge for me to be more selective to what I add to my list because it is so huge already. I will probably cave and add it anyway, but I will let Mari make up my mind for me. :)
Rewan wrote: "I've just finished reading The Big Sleep as I've heard so much about it, and now I'm about to start Cat's Cradle..."I have both of these on my TBR list. I even stopped to look up Cat's Cradle because the title seems so familiar. When I look at the summary though, nothing comes back to me. There have been a lot of Vonnegut titles going around lately and I may (almost) know The Big Sleep from the movie too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S86fc... - look - they are in a library!!!!
After some heavy hitters I need a couple quickies. Starting Hostage. I haven't read a lot but the Robert Crais I have read have all been good
The Help just became available on my library audio app - been on the reservation list for ages. So just started this for my chunkster. Rejigged Mickey again!
I'm reading The Stand for the chunkster challenge. Then I started reading La Vérité sur l'Affaire Harry Quebert (in Icelandic) becaus my husband got it for his birthday and I always have to start a new paperbook on holidays, so I started reading it in the Easter holiday. It would have counted as a chunkster if I had just finished the Stand first, because that is the last of my Slugs, but I just HAD to start a new book!
I'm enjoying it very much, it's by a Swiss writer, but set in New Hampshire and the characters are all American.
Finished Guernica. A great historical fiction, which I loved immensely. Set during the Spanish Civil War. My review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Started Allegiant so that I can finish another one of my "current series" and it's also a chunkster.
Lilisa wrote: "Finished Guernica. A great historical fiction, which I loved immensely. Set during the Spanish Civil War."Added to my wishlist - sounds great. After reading The Shadow of the Wind recently it piqued my interest in that period of Spanish history again.

Added to my TBR list. At this rate, I am going to have to start a Spain bookshelf. I keep going back there.
Cherie wrote: "Added to my TBR list. At this rate, I am going to have to start a Spain bookshelf. I keep going back there."Your next Around the World challenge will be in Spain! :)
I'm amazed that Guernica is Dave Boling's first novel. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did when you get around to reading it.
One-third of the way through The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, which was the inspiration for one of my favorite movies, The Sound of Music.
I finished Lady Audley's Secret yesterday for a buddy read. I am also well over halfway through The Enchanted which is pretty incredible so far.
I'm currently reading the Baileys Prize for Women's fiction shortlist - I finished A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing this morning. It was incredibly unique and powerful.I started on the next one on the list which is The Lowland, which appears to be much more straightforwardly written, but I can already tell I am going to like it.
I'm also reading the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson for the chunky challenge, on the side. I'm on the third book The Hero of Ages - I love this series SO MUCH

Hero of ages wraps things up nicely I felt.
Also don't leave out the in the future mist born fun read of The Alloy of Law
Finished The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. Was interesting to learn about the Trapp family. I know all the songs from the movie! My review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Travis of NNY wrote: "EstaAmeliaR wrote: "I'm currently reading the Baileys Prize for Women's fiction shortlist - I finished A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing this morning. I am looking forward to getting my hands on The Alloy of Law - I believe that is becoming a series in it's own right? Sanderson is certainly a prolific writer!
I finished The Enchanted yesterday. I thought it was brilliant! It is a raw, emotive book that really gets you thinking and the writing was just beautiful. It is has gone straight onto my all-time favourites shelf. Here is my short review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I am now starting My Cousin Rachel which I have been wanting to read for ages!
Lisa wrote: "I am now starting My Cousin Rachel which I have been wanting to read for ages!..."Me too, me too, so I just went and bought it from B&N. I am downloading it onto my Nook now.
I am still reading/listening to Middlesex. I almost don't want it to end. It has been a facinating story and the audio book version I am listening to has been so good.
I am also reading The Shadow of the Wind. Just into chapter 6 so far.
I just finished Night Watch by Linda Fairstein and The Moon and Sixpence by W. Somerset Maugham. And just starting Breaking Silence by *Linda Castillo. Also wanted to let y'all know why I've been absent for the past weeks - I fractured my right hip - my good leg - March 8th! Have been in hospital to recover after they had to operate and to Rehab. =(
Sorry to hear about your hip Anne! Hope you have a speedy recovery! Does it mean you have more time to read though?
Sarah wrote: "Sorry to hear about your hip Anne! Hope you have a speedy recovery! Does it mean you have more time to read though?"Now that I'm out of hospital - yes =)
Ugh, I do not even want to think of all you are going through, Anne. I hope all will be well soon and I hope all your books will be 5 star reads while you are recovering.
Oh ouch! Sorry to hear that Anne, but glad your back with us. And I agree with Cherie, hope you have wonderful reads while you are recovering!
Cherie wrote: "Mari wrote: "I'm listening to The Invisible Bridge for the chunkster challenge, and it's very good. The characters are from Hungary and it's set around the second world war. Thank you all for the kind words =) I have found some good books to pass time in between my PT exercises. Yay!
I am currently reading "A dance with dragons" by George R R Martin because i saw the TV series (Season 1 & 2) and was hooked but didn't realise it was actually adapted from a book. The minute i found out that there was a book from which the TV Series "Game of Thrones" was adapted from, i got the book and now i am almost done with book 5. Now that season 4 (Game of Thrones) is being aired, there are a lot of scenes that have actually been changed from what was actually described in the book and as such; my interest in the TV series is dwindling fast :-(
Hi Jazzy! Welcome to YLTO. I've been meaning to read Game of Thrones for ages. One of these days/years I will get to it!
I decided that I wasn't being drawn into Dragon Seed and decided to let it go with best wishes for another happier reader. I have replaced it with The Cabinet of Curiosities which is on my chunkster challenge. Interestingly enough, this book follows Thunderhead which isn't part of the series and considered a stand alone. Cabinets has two characters (Nora Kelly and Bill Smithback) from Thunderhead with several mentions of their Utah expedition. I'm glad I read Thunderhead before this one. I guess it wasn't considered part of the series because Pendergast wasn't in it.
Finished The Forsaken: An American Tragedy in Stalin's Russia
This is my review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/841470664
I finished Fingersmith. Next up is something much lighter - Living Dead in Dallas. While Sarah Waters has found her way to my favourite authors list, I need something that will make me laugh.
I finished Middlesex and William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope today. I cracked the cover of My Cousin Rachel and started reading the Forward. Warning - it has spoilers, so if you don't want to know what happens in the story do not read it until after you read the book. The part in the beginning about the author is interesting though. This will be for the May group read. For my first chunkster in Mickey's Marchers, I downloaded the audio version of The Darwin Elevator. This one is also for my May Australia read in AtW, but I haven't started listening yet.
Still slowly listening to The Good Earth and making my way through The Shadow of the Wind behind everyone else who read it for the Library book challenge. Hmm, that reminds me that I have not posted my book for that one yet. Still have to get my pictures into photobucket and remember how to link them.
Yesterday I finished two chunksters which is pretty good going - The Help and Allegiant. Still on my "finish current series" stint so that I can start some new series so I'm reading Behind Closed Doors which is quite short too (300pgs) in comparison to my recent chunksters.
