Lauren's DQs for Chapters 1-101. I’d forgotten that John Glover is the narrator for this one and got a bit of a shock when I didn’t hear James Marsden’s voice. I’m OK with Glover’s narration, but I’ll be glad when we get the old and familiar Harry back. What about you?
2. So, Harry is a ghost and has ended up in Purgatory where he meets Ron Carmichael and Murphy’s dad, Jack. If I remember correctly, Carmichael and Harry weren’t exactly buddies so why is he so friendly now? Did you realize that the Captain was Murphy’s father before the reveal? If so, what gave it away?
3. Jack implies that Harry was killed by the opposition - who do you think this is? He also claims that Harry must go back (without his powers) and solve his murder or three people he loves will die and he will be stuck as a ghost forever. Any guesses as to who the three are?
4. The atmosphere in Purgatory is kinda creepy. It reminded me of the 1980’s miniseries based on Stephen King’s “The Langoliers” where a number of people have remained in the past while time has moved forward and there is an emptiness and a silence to the world. What did you think of the vibe?
5. Harry goes to Mortimer Lindquist, an ectomancer who can summon ghosts, for help. I suppose Morty is the obvious choice as he will be able to see Harry. The last time we saw Morty was in “Dead Beat” where Harry accidentally destroyed the Larry Fowler set. Morty seems to be holding a grudge, lol! Comments.
6. Harry meets Sir Stuart Winchester. What did you think of his character? I wonder how he is related to Morty and why he hasn’t moved on into the Afterlife?
7. Morty’s house is attacked by Wraiths - ghosts that have given into despair and feed off memories. They want to devour Harry’s memories so that they can become very powerful. Their description immediately called to mind The Dementors in HP. Thoughts.
8. It looks like the Wraiths and Lemurs (ghosts that have given into rage and malice) are being controlled by a wizard ghost (Grey Ghost) and Harry thinks that he sees Bob in the fray. Was Bob really there? Is he helping the Grey Ghost? That would be REALLY bad!
9. Murphy’s house is warded - wasn’t it a little strange that Harry didn’t sense that before knocking? I originally suspected that Molly was the one who put the wards on Murphy’s house but it turns out that the Ordo was responsible. Thoughts.
10. It’s been 6 months since Harry’s death and Murphy is no longer a cop. She also seems to be working with a group of people including Childes, Marcone’s “troubleshooter”. What happened to Hendricks? Harry speculated that Childes isn’t mortal. Any thoughts on what he is?
11. Molly is now called the Ragged Lady and it seems that she was negatively affected by her experiences at Chichen Itza. This does not bode well…
12. Wow Murphy has certainly been busy! Will, Marcy, Abby and Toto, Daniel Carpenter, Father Forthill and Felicia Raith- does this combination mean anything? There seems to be some animosity between Daniel and Will - any thoughts on what could be behind it? Murphy smacks down Felicia - she is SO kickass!!!
13. Molly has gone off the deep end and every ugly with a hand and a leg (and who knows what else) is trying to fill the vacuum left by the Red Court. Harry dies and everything goes to Hell in a hand basket. Thoughts.

I'm OK with it but I really wish it was James Marsters. I'm familiar with his voices for the characters ,I don't need to think who is talking ,I just know. His voice is not as young and sharp as James Marsters. And the "hells bells" doesn't have the same effect !

I can't remember their interactions from before ,maybe he wasn't a believer before dying! The moment he said he looked familiar ,I thought of Karin's dad. It seemed that he preferred Harry didn't know he was K's dad.I don't why!

Forces from hell? I don't know.
Harry loves Thomas , Karin,Molly ,Michael ,Maggie and Ebenezer. I think the 3 who would be harmed are Thomas , Karin and Molly

yep creepy but I didn't pay much attention to it. what got my attention was the cops that were working!What were they doing?!

Didn't Morty call him pops? Or did I misheard that?
I think he could be related but they don't have anything in common with each other physically or otherwise. He must have something incomplete that even Morty can't help him with

When Harry became a ghost ,I thought at least he won't be attacked every minute but I was wrong

I think Bob had been freed after Harry's death so someone else has taken control of him. I hope Grey Ghost doesn't turn out to be one of the foes Harry already has killed , Justin for example

I thought of Molly too.
He just went to her door as he'd always done. He didn't stop to scan or check .He is not used to being a ghost yet so he didn't think even if there is a ward ,it would prevent him from knocking

Daniel is just young ,he doesn't have the experience and I suspect that Will mentions this a lot.
The whole meeting and people involved in it were very strange ,they didn't feel like the characters we know!

It seems Harry's death had a big impact on everything.Snow in May , all the fights and missing people .
A few things that caught my attention
Was there a mention of the whole black court being destroyed by Harry?
Will is going to do something and scare people so they wouldn't travel alone,what? Abby seemed shocked by it
Who is eyes? Butters?
I loved that Mister could see Harry.What about Mouse? and where is he?
Oh! Are we starting already? LOL! Okay. I've got another class this morning. Let me see if I can catch up. Probably not. LOL!

#6 - Yes, he did. Hmmm...I'm thinking that Stuart is one of Morty's ancestors.
#8 - I've been expecting Justin to make an appearance since the beginning of the series. Maybe this will be the time.
Other issues:
The Black Court was destroyed a while ago - Mavre is the only known survivor - I think. I don't think Harry had anything to do with it though.
I love the fact that Mister is with Murphy :0) I ahve a feeling that Mouse is with Thomas. Don't know why.

ShoSho's questions for chapter 11-2014. It seems that Chichen Itza and Harry’s death had big impact on Molly. She is hostile towards all the people who care for her , trying to push them away on purpose !I don’t like this new Molly that scares her friends and everybody else ,even Butters is worried about her. You? What did she mean when she said “did you come to take me away?”? I really hope she is not the one killing people and leaving Harry's cloths on them although all the evidence points to her!
15.Why all of them are so rude to Mort? He is just trying to stay alive and unharmed, not everyone needs to be a hero! And as we later found out he has been keeping the city safe from killer ghosts for years!
16.It seems Maggie is in Chicago or very close to Chicago and with Mouse. Mouse staying with Maggie was one of the things Harry asked murphy to do.
17.What did you think of Aristedes AKA Baldy , Fitz and the other boys? Harry is trying to help the boys and sees them as victims(although they've killed people) but not Murphy .And why did Baldy have the bell?
19.It’s a bummer that Harry can’t be out and about during the day. The way he was describing it I thought all the ghosts and shades would disappear with dawn, after all there are not that many places like Bob’s skull or Morty’s house. But it seems there is another obvious place. Did you guess the cemetery would be the place for the ghost to go during the day or Harry would go to his own grave?
20.What did you think of his whole encounter with Inez? Why did he smelled pine needle and had the sweet strange taste in his mouth? Was she the real Inez?
was she right about him being a monster? Was he right saying that he didn’t do the right thing?(view spoiler)
21.What about the Eternal silence statue ? What do you think about what he told Harry? Understanding his path is essential to everyone’s survival .

22. This Grey Ghost is getting scarier and scarier,she/he has mortals following him ,they probably leave the graveyard gates open ,she/he has Bob’s offspring (how did he get it BTW?) and she/he has Morty and she/he destroyed sir Stuart . Comments.I'm thinking she but don't know who!
23.Butters and Bob???????? I would have never guessed that and I don’t want Bob with Butters ,I want Harry to have Bob back! And I was right !Eyes is butters .I didn't understand the spotlight and baby monitor thing that Butters uses to see Harry. Maybe because I can't remember the Nightmare case .Do you?
24. I don’t like how all the characters (Karin , Molly , butters … ) have changed. Specially Murphy ,she is not the Karin we knew .How do you feel about this?
25. I think all the talk about Harry being something more is foreshadowing for returning him to life. What do you think?
26.Bob has loped off his evil part and now his evil offspring is helping the enemy. Someone as knowledgeable as Bob should have known something like this could happen, shouldn’t he?
27. Brighter Future Society headquarters was built by Marcone and in the place of Harry’s old house ! Comments.
28.Huh ,when a professional shooter was mentioned ,I thought of “Kincaid” and then Harry got to that conclusion too ! Did you expect Kincaid’s name to be mentioned? Did it really happen the way Harry thinks it happened?( bottles of whiskey and a sex-music CD ) Why would he do such a thing if he's the killer?
29.It is really interesting the way Harry is learning to do things using his memories. I liked how he came by “Flickum bicus”.

I didn’t think I’d mind, but as I get deeper into the book, I really miss Marsden’s narration.

Yeah, I don’t think Carmichael and Harry were anywhere near friends. No, I didn’t know Jack was the Captain until the reveal. Sure makes it interesting.

Not a clue! Maybe Karen, Maggie, and Molly? Could be Thomas, but I hope not. Really interested in finding out how the opposition “cheated.”

Oh! Good analogy! I agree with the creepy vibe. Although, I was intrigued by Harry’s interaction with Amitiel, the angel with the revolved that turned into a sword.

I’m betting he is related to Morty, although I don’t know why he hasn’t moved on. I like the American Revolutionary War aspect and all the inherent weaponry of that era.

I didn’t even think of The Dementors. I just read a BOM for another group and it was about amnesia and memories, and what makes us be us, so I was paying attention to that part. However, Harry would obviously be quite a prize for a Wraith.

I can’t for the life of me remember if Bob’s eye-sockets were red or blue, as the ones that were seen by the Grey Ghost. Geez! I wasn’t even worried about Bob… until now! The Grey Ghost can’t be the guy from the first book, can he? Victor Sells?

Harry isn’t quite himself, for sure. I originally thought Murphy has put up the wards, too; I was very surprised she hadn’t. I was relieved it was the “Order of the Cauldron” and not anything marking her home as their territory. BTW, glad Mister is safe, but where is Mouse? No, don’t tell me.

I’m really worried about Murphy working for these people. I haven’t a clue where Hendricks – AKA “Cujo” – is! And, as an aside, it looks like JM predicted the “Polar Vortex” we just had. LOL!

Sounds like Molly’s gone off the deep-end a bit, but her power is still growing. Unfortunately, Harry isn’t there to help her develop it in the right direction.

I think ShoSho meant to write Red Court, the Black Court was basically wiped out by people who read Bram Stoker's "Dracula", because the book basically told people how to deal with the Black Court.

About the orange/blue eyes, Bob's eyes are usually orange, in Dead Beat when Harry asked him about Kemmler and when Cowl had him, Bob's eyes were blue. So it makes sense that Evil Bob has blue eyes.

Lauren's Answers to ShoSho's questions for chapters 11-2014 - I'm worried about her too. She is obviously not coping.
I don't think that Molly is a killer - someone is setting her up.
15 - Yeah! I felt sorry for Mort. He's trying his best and he isn't the same person who was conning people in the beginning of the series. He deserves the benefit of the doubt.
16 - I still think that she is with the Carpenters. So glad Mouse is looking out for the little tyke.
17 - Hmm...I'm conflicted about this. While they are definitely victims of Baldy, they still know what they are doing is wrong and they are responsible for the death of at least one person.
The analogy with Oliver Twist was really good.
Do you mean the bell that warns dawn is approaching? Not sure. Perhaps he cannot go out in the daylight either.
19 - Nope I didn't guess but it is a good place. I wonder if Lea knew all along that Harry would need it.
20 - Inez really creeped me out. I don't think that she is what she appears to be.
Harry isn't a monster and I don't think he did the wrong thing. The choices that he made were made out of love. Remember what Uriel said, as long as Harry is guided by love, everything will be alright (view spoiler)
21 - Eternal Silence is much more trustworthy than Inez - Harry needs to accept the choices that he has made and move forward. He also needs to find his killer or it will be devastating for everyone.
22. No idea who it is or how they got their hands on Bob's evil twin / offspring.
I'm really sad about Sir Stuart - I liked him a lot and wanted to know more about his past and why he hasn't moved on :0(
23 - If Harry can't have Bob then at least he is in good hands. Butters is a good choice for looking after the skull because he's probably the only one smarter than Bob and Bob seems to respect him.
Don't remember those details - I'm just going with it :0)
24 - There have been a lot of changes. I like the new Butters though - he has much more self-confidence. Murphy and Molly have had a much harder time coming to terms with Harry's death. Their characters had to grow though - keeping them the same would be boring.
25 - Exactly my thoughts. He is not a traditional ghost, which suggests that he is only mostly dead. Mostly dead means slightly alive, lol!
26 - Bob was very eager to get rid of his evil side and I'm not sure that he has the conscience to worry about the consequences of cutting it out.
27 - Isn't there an organization called Brighter Future in the Mercy Thompson series - only that one is NOT good!
28 - I didn't immediately think of Kincaid and even though he seems to fit the bill, I don't think he would kill Harry. Kincaid knows how much Ivy cares for Harry and he also owes Harry so why would he accept a job to kill him.
I do think that Kincaid would come to comfort Murphy and she may believe Kincaid is guilty but I don't think he is. Maybe he is being set up like Molly.
29 - The insight into his early relationship with Justin is interesting (more support for the possibility that Grey Ghost is Justin). I keep asking myself why Ebenezer didn't take Harry from the orphanage. Why did he leave him in Justin's clutches?

ShoSho’s Questions and Lisa Kay’s Answers for Chapters 11-20
14. It seems that Chichen Itza and Harry’s death had a big impact on Molly. She is hostile towards all the people who care for her, trying to push them away on purpose! I don’t like this new Molly that scares her friends and everybody else, even Butters is worried about her. You? What did she mean when she said “did you come to take me away?”? I really hope she is not the one killing people and leaving Harry's cloths on them although all the evidence points to her!
I’m worried, too. It sure sounds like she is the one doing the killing. But, know JM, it could be a Red Herring. I hope!
15. Why all of them are so rude to Mort? He is just trying to stay alive and unharmed, not everyone needs to be a hero! And as we later found out he has been keeping the city safe from killer ghosts for years!
I agree. Poor Mort. I guess they treat him that way because Harry did. I find it interesting that Harry can appreciate Mort, and see him differently, now that he’s dead. Plus, Mort has changed, too.
16. It seems Maggie is in Chicago or very close to Chicago and with Mouse. Mouse staying with Maggie was one of the things Harry asked Murphy to do.
Yes, that’s a relief.
17. What did you think of Aristedes AKA Baldy, Fitz and the other boys? Harry is trying to help the boys and sees them as victims (although they've killed people) but not Murphy. And why did Baldy have the bell?
I haven’t a clue, unless he’s an old school-teacher. A demented old school teacher.
19. It’s a bummer that Harry can’t be out and about during the day. The way he was describing it I thought all the ghosts and shades would disappear with dawn, after all there are not that many places like Bob’s skull or Morty’s house. But it seems there is another obvious place. Did you guess the cemetery would be the place for the ghost to go during the day or Harry would go to his own grave?
Well, the cemetery was obvious, but I didn’t actually think about Harry’s grave. Eep!
20. What did you think of his whole encounter with Inez? Why did he smelled pine needle and had the sweet strange taste in his mouth? Was she the real Inez? Was she right about him being a monster? Was he right saying that he didn’t do the right thing? [I think doing the right thing (rescuing the neighbours ) caused him to do the wrong thing( becoming the Winter Knight and whatever that came after) (hide spoiler)]
Hmmm… yes, I’m about 80% sure Inez is the real Inez. Nope, I refuse to believe Harry is a monster. Interesting theory.
21. What about the Eternal Silence statue? What do you think about what he told Harry? Understanding his path is essential to everyone’s survival.[(hide spoiler)]
Is that a real statue? Spooky looking. I think ES spoke the truth!
22. This Grey Ghost is getting scarier and scarier, she/he has mortals following him, they probably leave the graveyard gates open, she/he has Bob’s offspring (how did he get it BTW?) and she/he has Morty and she/he destroyed sir Stuart. Comments. I'm thinking she but don't know who!
Yes, very scary. I haven’t a clue how the GG got Bob’s offspring. Very sad about Stu; I was becoming attached. I was think the GG was male… why do you think female?
23. Butters and Bob???????? I would have never guessed that and I don’t want Bob with Butters, I want Harry to have Bob back! And I was right! Eyes is Butters. I didn't understand the spotlight and baby monitor thing that Butters uses to see Harry. Maybe because I can't remember the Nightmare case .Do you?
Oh, I like Bob with Butters. LOL! I figure he’ll get back to Harry, eventually. I don’t remember that part of the Nightmare case. Sorry.
24. I don’t like how all the characters (Karin, Molly, Butters … ) have changed. Especially Murphy, she is not the Karin we knew. How do you feel about this?
Yeah, Karin is pretty bitter. And scared. I hope she’ll get better when – and if – Harry gets back to normal.
25. I think all the talk about Harry being something more is foreshadowing for returning him to life. What do you think?
Yeah. I was thinking this at the end of the #12. I hope he’ll be resurrected as the new and improved – or at least more powerful – Harry.
26. Bob has loped off his evil part and now his evil offspring is helping the enemy. Someone as knowledgeable as Bob should have known something like this could happen, shouldn’t he?

27. Brighter Future Society headquarters was built by Marcone and in the place of Harry’s old house! Comments.
Well, he did respect Harry, in his fashion.
28. Huh, when a professional shooter was mentioned, I thought of “Kincaid” and then Harry got to that conclusion too! Did you expect Kincaid’s name to be mentioned? Did it really happen the way Harry thinks it happened? (bottles of whiskey and a sex-music CD) Why would he do such a thing if he's the killer?
No, I didn’t think of Kincaid. If he is the killer, maybe someone got to him somehow? Maybe threatened Ivy?
29. It is really interesting the way Harry is learning to do things using his memories. I liked how he came by “Flickum bicus”.
Yeah, that was neat.

#21 – You’re making me second guess; but I do agree that Eternal Silence is more trustworthy than Inez.
#23 – Again, I agree. Butters was a good choice by Murphy.

#26 – Very true; Bob was never one to worry about consequences.
#28 – I tend to think Kincaid is innocent, too. Unless someone has threatened Ivy. I don’t think it will do much for their relationship if Kincaid finds out Murphy suspects him.

#28.Yes IF and only IF he is the killer(I doubt it but JM wants us to think that way) ,his reason has something to do with Ivy!
