I'm working on some quarterly challenges that end in November, so I need to concentrate on those. If the books fit here, so much the better!
Just wanted to say good luck to everyone doing the November challenges. I am going to take a month break. I will still be reading a little but NanoWrimo is this month and I want to concentrate on that. Good Luck all and Happy Reading!

Thanks for moderating, Sharon!
This would be my first challenge and I am so excited. I was wondering I've had "World War Z" for more than a few years, would it count as a 1 & 3 or a 1 or 3?
Way to jump right into a challenge A. Books can only count for one number for each challenge. You would have to pick 1 or 3 but you can use the same book for different challenges. So if you joined one of the quarterly challenges or the mini-challenge for November, you could use World War Z for one of those challenges too.Have you started World War Z yet? I am currently reading it.
8. Dusty Armadillo - The Place Country Comes To. Read a book that involves dancing or that has an animal as a character. This book begins, "When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin." Gregor is the main character and is a beetle throughout the book. A beetle is an animal.

Theresa~OctoberLace wrote: "For #7, can I tie Margarita in the title to Jimmy Buffet's song Margaritaville?"I would think so ...
I just finished the first book -- The Journey, which I'm using for challenge 1 (book on my tbr for over a year).I'm now at 1 out of 4 books.

- Completed 11/28/2013The Book Thief - Completed 11/10/2013

I just finished my second book for this challenge:7. Dusty Groove: Jazz, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Brazil Latin, and more... Read a book whose title shares a word with a title of one of your favorite songs. Make sure to tell us the name of the song!
The word in the title is Margarita, and the song is Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. Just think of "Wastin' away again in Margaritaville..." while these characters are "Wastin' away again in Moscow!"
The Master and Margarita
by Mikhail Bulgakov 11/5/138. Dusty Armadillo - The Place Country Comes To. Read a book that involves dancing or that has an animal as a character. The main character has become a beetle, which is an animal.
The Metamorphosis
by Franz Kafka 11/3/132/3
I am going to change the book I'm reading for #4. Instead of reading Satellite, which is signed, I'm going to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, as it still has a dark cover and I can take it out of my house without worrying for its safety.
Sharon, I'm in. I'm going for four :).1. Dusty: Covered or filled with dust. Read a book that has been on your bookshelf (physically or just on your TBR list) for over a year.
3. Dusty (1983) - IMDb. Read a book later made into a movie.
4. Dusty: slightly gray, somewhat dark or dull in color. Read a book with a dark cover.
6. Dusty, Washington. Read a book that takes place in the Pacific Northwest.
Completed #10 - Author w/ same initials - North and South by John Jakes. While I appreciated the story and characters, the book was much too long and would have been aided by a good editor. Glad that I read a book that was so popular back in the day but do not plan to continue the series. 3 stars1/3
Challenge Complete! 4/41. Dusty: Covered or filled with dust. Read a book that has been on your bookshelf (physically or just on your TBR list) for over a year.
Night by Elie Wiesel 11/2/2013. It's been on my bookshelf for years, and I finally brought myself to read it. A very tragic but important memoir from the Holocaust. I'm really glad I finally read it.3. Dusty (1983) - IMDb. Read a book later made into a movie.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold 11/5/2013 It was made into a movie in 2009 and is on my Netflix queue! Overall, I liked it. I'm not quite sure why there are so many hateful reviews on Goodreads. I dropped it to 3 stars only because I wasn't a huge fan of the ending.6. Dusty, Washington. Read a book that takes place in the Pacific Northwest.
Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed 11/30/2013. Part of the book takes place in the Pacific Northwest, so I'm counting it. This took me a really long time to read. It definitely isn't a page turner, but I gave it 4 stars because I did think it was a very well-written memoir. There's just only so much reading about long-distance hiking that I can handle in one sitting.8. Dusty Armadillo - The Place Country Comes To. Read a book that involves dancing or that has an animal as a character.
Blood Red Road by Moira Young 11/10/2013 Finished this one late last night for one of our monthly group reads. It was an easy read, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I gave it 4 stars. The main character Saba's very helpful and highly intelligent companion, Nero, is a crow.
3. Dusty (1983) - IMDb. The Hunger Games
Made into a movie and on my to be read list for a while, a good reason to start (and finish) it now. I had seen the movie already, I didn't like it that much. I'm glad I liked the book way better. The pacing is great it really manages to suck you in. Also you get to the hunger games itself pretty fast. Only 3 stars tho, I felt like the love part had to be crowbarred in later to make the characters more likeable or something.
Just finished Challenge #4: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame Smith. I'm at 2/4 books.
Completed #2 - Ugly Cover - Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz. Overall, I enjoyed this book. The characters were complex and the narrative was interesting, once I figured out the author's style. However, the beginning was incredibly slow and confusing, and I felt that the male characters were treated rather flippantly. Glad I read it and would recommend to anyone wanting a challenging read. 3.5 stars2/3
Number 1: dusty or filled with dust- read The Artist's Way which I have been reading since June of this year.
Completed #4 - Dark Cover - We Band of Angels: The Untold Story of the American Women Trapped on Bataan. An amazing and inspiring story of courageous nurses! Coming from a family of nurses, I really appreciated the author's thorough research and obvious dedication to her subjects. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars3/3
Good job, Megan! You're on top of these challenges!!I'm up to 7/10. Here are the three I just added:
The Graveyard Book - Completed 11/22/2013
The Snow Child - Completed 11/17/2013
Just Babies: The Origins of Good and Evil (Evil Angel) - Completed 11/1/2013
I have completed my five:3. Dusty (1983) - IMDb. Read a book later made into a movie.
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
4. Dusty: slightly gray, somewhat dark or dull in color. Read a book with a dark cover.
7. Dusty Groove: Jazz, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Brazil Latin, and more... Read a book whose title shares a word with a title of one of your favorite songs. Make sure to tell us the name of the song!

from Cuckoo
8. Dusty Armadillo - The Place Country Comes To. Read a book that involves dancing or that has an animal as a character.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

2. Urban Dictionary, Dusty: describes someone or something that's ugly and/or badly dressed. Read a book with a cover you consider to be ugly.
