Tom Foolery (tomfoolery) Dr. Kevorkian?
Karl Marx?
Che?

message 5: by Jini (new)

Jini I'm going to throw in Buck Gentry, simply because it is the best/worst cowboy porn ever written. He may not be evil, but there's all sorts of references to mountains and members and snails of many joys.

Jini And thanks to you, Alfonso, for making me wake up this morning with this tune in my head..."Hitler...had only one big ball...."
AAAUUUGGGHHH!

Joe (joediver50) Maybe,
George Bush 2?
Dick Chaney?
Carl Rove?
And last but not least Rush Limbaugh!

message 8: by Donitello (new)

Donitello Mickey Spillane? Ayn Rand? They were terrifyingly odd.

message 9: by Donitello (new)

Donitello You've read those two? Looking for context here.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I have a cousin named Rusty.

Isn't that interesting?

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

And I have an uncle named Russell (Rusty's dad).

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I think if your last name were Montambo, we'd have been onto that, sooner.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

By the way, my Russell and Rusty both live in Idaho.

Reads with Scotch Whats wrong with Ayn Rand?

Reads with Scotch feh. like Dan brown...

Reads with Scotch So he can't be all bad then.

I think it is worth pointing out that he was a very successful criminal.

Reads with Scotch Well they always highlight his downfall. Wouldn't be much of a super hero story if the criminal was always winning. But all that stuff he pulls off cost money. All those henchmen have to be paid. They wouldn't follow a looser that always got them pinched.

Reads with Scotch Well there you have it full circle.

Donitello Right. What an illuminating discussion this has been.

Hey, anyone in the Haters Club have a counter-epithet to "Hippie"? I know we liberals tend not to resort to the name-calling so favored by conservatives, but maybe it's time to extend ourselves a bit, just to enjoy a bit of horseplay?

"Rupert Murdoch FOXes"?

"Blackwater-boarders"?

"Diebold Frontiersmen"?

"No-Fly Listers"?

Dang... nothing as succinct as "hippie." Strange, when you consider the effect they've had on a major democratic system. But then, the world was ever a crappy litmus test of human values....

Reads with Scotch Hippie hippie hippie. I have yet to see anything positive come from hippies, Doni.

But I will help you out, conservative versions of hippies:

workaholic
tax payer
productive member of society

Oh! bathers.

message 25: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Scared, huh, DM?

Rusty, it's supposed to be a a counter-epithet to "hippie" like:

bourgeois

bigot

square

old maid

fuddy-duddy

or

fogy

...

message 26: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Wasn't Doni having trouble with coming up with something as succinct as "hippie"? I think she actually likes "hippie", I might might be wrong...

message 27: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Rusty wrote: "Euro-hippie."

Fogy

Did I get all the fogginess out?

message 29: by Donitello (last edited Jun 10, 2009 01:17PM) (new)

Donitello Yes, I LOVE the term "Hippie." Consider the alternative -- it's so pathetic. Over recent years conservatives have:

1) Lied and bullied this nation into a war with a country that didn't attack us

2) Ignored bidding protocols to give their own people lucrative "rebuilding" contracts in Iraq (can you say "Halliburton"?)

3) created FAA "Watch" and "No Fly" lists that detained about a MILLION US citizens -- including Ted Kennedy, a 74-year-old nun, and others who have verbally opposed the past administration -- at airports, even though the TSA itself complains that these lists are "useless"

4) over the past 8 years created the biggest national deficit in history while simultaneously continuing to give tax cuts to the richest among us.

5) SERIOUSLY messed with our voting system

Yeah, "Hippies" are the problem. I only wish.

Reads with Scotch 1) bad information is not a lie

2)I fucking hate halliburton: no argument.

3)TSA is useless the hold protocol is broken. But this isn't a conservative/democrat thing.

4)Obama has surpassed any damage done by Bush in just over 100 days. time to build a bridge and get over it.

5)you will have to explain this in more detail.

Wish granted hippies ARE the problem.

message 31: by Donitello (last edited Jun 10, 2009 02:16PM) (new)

Donitello 1) bad information is not a lie

When you say you "think" something and are proven wrong, it's a mistake. When you say you "know" something and are proven wrong, it's a lie. This is a general rule. But it's particularly important when you have access to information sources almost no one else on earth can access. As president of the most powerful nation on earth, you can't say you "know" something, and then demand "Take-overs."

2)I fucking hate halliburton: no argument.

Any thoughts on Blackwater? Just curious.

3)TSA is useless the hold protocol is broken. But this isn't a conservative/democrat thing.

I'm afraid I must disagree. In mid-December 2001, two lists were created: the "No Fly List" of 594 people to be denied air transport, and the "Selectee" list of 365 people who were to be more carefully searched at airports. By 2007, some 775,000 names were on the lists, and our government publicly stated that 20,000 names were being added monthly. If I recall correctly, that government was a conservative administration. The TSA itself went on record saying that such a huge list was "useless" in protecting the public.

4)Obama has surpassed any damage done by Bush in just over 100 days. time to build a bridge and get over it.

Wow. The Bush administration was in power for almost 3,000 days, but after 3% of that time period, OBAMA is responsible for the problems. I have no idea how to answer this.

5) you will have to explain this in more detail.

You have no concerns about the Diebold voting machines? Just for a start.

Reads with Scotch 4) yes he is the president, Doni. And the point I was making is he has cause more damage in just over 100 days then Bush administration was able to accomplish in 8 years. 6 years really because the Dems have held the house and the senate for two of those. And they continued on (Just as the Obama administration has) with Bush era policies. It is time for liberal folks to realize you have been snowed. Pelosi knew about 'torture', Obama knew he would have to tax health benefits,GITMO won't be closed down, We will still be in Iraq until the job is done. Things ARE going to escalate in Pakistan. We (the US) Will play a role in that. But as long as you allow yourself to believe that this is all the bush administrations fault then there is no way to have a conversation.

Blackwater: Assholes. They were paid sum's of money that would fund a whole platoon, and operated without ROE's. At the same time when Military men were being charged with acting outside of the ROE's. Bullshit.

Tom Foolery (tomfoolery) Is "fascist" the word you were looking for?
Jack-booted thug?
Square?

message 34: by Jini (new)

Jini Nick, after reading this thread, I think I have a crush on you. Quite possibly you, too, Rusty.

message 35: by Rusty (new)

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments I like jack-booted thug. Unfortunately, I don't have any jack-boots. I've got some nice steel-toe jobs, though. Is that good enough?

Yeah yeah Jini, story of my life - always playing second fiddle.

message 36: by Jini (new)

Jini Don't feel bad, Rusty. It's more that Nick showed his right-wing nut job colors. You could still go either way.

message 37: by Donitello (new)

Donitello There's no arguing matters like this. People see what they want to see, me included. So we should probably stick to the name-calling.

Tom, those all work for me. I was actually leaning toward "anti-American," but "jack-booted thug" is also accurate, and it has a nice ring.

Reads with Scotch Jini, I can't be a 'right wing nut job' I'm pro choice.

Doni, I didn't think we were having a "heated" conversation. But I like name calling too.

Rusty, you can always play my fiddle first.

message 39: by Jini (new)

Jini We can't all be perfect, Nick. My husband is about 65% hippie, 35% normal.

Ooo! There's your counter word to hippie. Normal.

message 40: by Rusty (new)

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments Nick, can you tell me what "American" means? Apparently we're Anti-American, and if that's the case, my internal lexicon is all wrong.

Reads with Scotch Jini wrote: "We can't all be perfect, Nick. My husband is about 65% hippie, 35% normal.

even 3% hippie is enough to make one completely hippie.

Rusty wrote: "Nick, can you tell me what "American" means? Apparently we're Anti-American, and if that's the case, my internal lexicon is all wrong.
"

Well... If you are American, and act like an American, then you are anti-American. Do try and act a little more french in the future.

message 45: by Donitello (last edited Jun 11, 2009 09:38AM) (new)

Donitello Kasia, that's the whole point. Being offensive makes the conservative heart soar.

I don't imagine you've ever seen FOX TV, by any chance?

Reads with Scotch Like MSNBC is the poster example of nice? If talking about reality is offensive to you then I don't know what to tell you... I guess we can go for a ride on my unicorn?

message 47: by Donitello (new)

Donitello It's time to stop putting words in my mouth, son. I also deeply dislike MSNBC. And Democrats, come to think of it.

"You think you know me. But you don't know me."

I know but still I'd love to keep my two labels separate: crazy and hippie. If you make those two synonymous and exchangeable - you loose meaning. Call me crazy, call me hippie but make a distinction between those two please!

message 49: by Kasia (new)

Kasia carry on

Reads with Scotch The only thing I know about you, Doni, is that yer Canadian... to me that means yer french, and that is all that matters ;)
