See, those who have studied ancient history show some semblance of order. Just not this me. Colour coordination would be great! Don't start trimming the books down to size so they match :S

I figured I'll do that when I retire or have a wall-to-wall library.

Aw it's literally my dream to have a library. A whole room of books, with a comfortable reading chair, soft lighting (enough to read of course) and just endless books. *sigh*

One day!!

Yes that would be lovely. A couple of comfy divans would be a added bonus.

Adam (amilesb) | 35 comments I love libraries but I've decided an e-reader would just be so much easier for reading on the go. I'm toying around with the idea of getting a digital picture frame to sit on my bookshelf and have it flip through cover images. Of course, I'll still have to have physical copies of my favorites!

I had a decent library going, but then I realized someday I was going to move and started donating some of my books to the library.

It's a good point... I think my partner groans every time i bring a new book into the house knowing that at some point they will all have to be moved out if/when we move house! I'm also not sure he's particularly happy that I'm semi turning our lounge into a semi-library :D haha. I had a new bookcase delivered this week, so that's waiting for the boy to un-flatpack, making two large bookcases in the lounge, in addition to one upstairs. Love it!

My book buying has been close to nothing recently, due to the fact I had a book heavy birthday (just as I like it), and we have christmas coming up!

It's real hard not to buy books when you want to read something. I tend to look at my bank balance and weep a little. It works lol.

That makes two of us. I've a book unit on the wall filled with some books that have been read, or forgotten about, unread :S I've three book cases downstairs full of more novels/non-fiction, academic books and journals. Not to mention the rest back in Kent. Its becoming... a problem lol.

(Larger version here)

Here =D Plus around 100 ebooks... Oh, and that's from August, so you know, 3 or 4 months gives me time to build that up even more ;)

A Memory of Light is epic. An excellent conclusion, Mr Sanderson did an unenvious job spectacularly in my opinion. The series is currently on a "re-read" for me via audiobooks (and graphic novels as they come out) :)

I was pleased with how the wheel if time was completed. I think the series kind of grew out of hand and Sanderson did a good job of completing the story lines.

I suppose you could use that as a clothes press afterwards!

For Christmas I was gifted; Swords of Good Men and The Black Guard

I also have a signed copy of The Daylight War though I have two copies now. So I'm thinking about doing a potential give-away competition for one, with the group.

That's an awesome gift. I really loved this book.

I got a lot of gift cards for Christmas, so I went a bit overboard and bought a lot of new shiny books:

Merz The Accidental Hero (Jack Blank Adventure, #1) by Matt Myklusch Seven Forges by James A. Moore City of Gods - Hellenica by Jonathan Maas Long Live the Queen (The Immortal Empire, #3) by Kate Locke Kinslayer (The Lotus War, #2) by Jay Kristoff God Emperor of Didcot (Chronicles of Isambard Smith, #2) by Toby Frost Wrath of the Lemming Men (Chronicles of Isambard Smith, #3) by Toby Frost A Game of Battleships (Chronicles of Isambard Smith, #4) by Toby Frost Empress of the Sun (Everness #3) by Ian McDonald

over two weeks Kirsty, not in one go... though that doesn't sound any better! :S

Whoo! 1Q84 is definitely one of my all-time favorites as well. Be sure to let us know what you think.
Embassytown is on my to-read list as well, I think I'll put that in the next round of nominations.

The next ones follow this story line, if you read Ender's Shadow you can see Ender's Game from the point of view of Bean. I enjoyed that quite a bit, then there are a couple more books that follow that timeline.

John (johnred) I went on a bit of a shopping spree this weekend...There may have been alcohol involved :) In any case, I should have enough material to keep me busy through most of 2014 now. My acquisitions include:

The Shining*
Annihilation*
Jurgen*
Cloud Atlas**
Permutation City*
The Fall of Hyperion**
MaddAddam**
Dune Messiah**

*audiobook
**e-book, but I'll probably buy the audiobook later - gotta love those "Whispersync" deals on Amazon :)

...also within the past few weeks I have gotten At the Mountains of Madness (it was the deal of the day at Audible!), The Castle, and What I Talk About When I Talk About Running.

Nah, I'm only a valuable customer - one of several millions :)

Usually, Amazon sends preordered books one or two days earlier than publishing date to make sure that it arrives in time.
But Amazon.de (and .co.uk) cleared their storage of WoR instantly. I even wasn't in the first wave but got it on 23 Feb. I don't know if it was a scheme or just an error.
