I'm looking forward to it very much! It'll have a lot to live up to, though, I've been told it's as good as The City and the City

I 'bought' -
It was technically free as I used the hoarded points from my Sainsbury's Nectar card :) I have all the rest of the series that I have been collecting for years, so I am glad to finally have the last one :)

I really liked it! A little YA, but an enjoyable read!

Love that book! :) Much preferred it to Wyndham's other classic, The Midwich Cuckoos.
@Rabindranauth: I love my versions of the Iliad and the Odyssey <3

Not the last book i bought but my last preordered book to arrive is Queen of the Dark Things
Its the sequel to Dreams and Shadowswhich i read last year which was a dark fairy tale based around two boys, one kidnapped by fairies and the other partnered to a genie after a poorly thought out wish.
Its Gaimanesque and i thoroughly enjoyed the first one and looking forward to the second

Not books I bought but a round of preorders. Ive ordered Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz, Retribution by Mark Charon Newton, A World of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, Prince Lestat by Anne Rice, Dragons at Crumbling Castle by Terry Pratchett and to spoil myself A Signed cloth bound limited edition of The Vanishing Witch by Karen Maitland.
Should be an interesting mix of reads

I've been on somewhat of a book buying binge recently; charity shops in St. Andrews and Derbyshire (where I also found an amazing bookshop in Buxton called Scriveners), plus the shop where I work has had some brilliant books at 2 for £5.

Wow! I hope you didn't try to carry them all at once...I did that once and was out of commission for a week...

It was more than one trip thankfully! But yeah, that's the highlights, there were more... Part of househunting was a trip to Ikea so now i'm excited about the prospect of a few nice Billy bookcases.
We Were Liars
It was £0.99 in the Kindle store, and I've seen so many great reviews of it on here. Plus it kind of gives me The Secret History vibe, and I absolutely LOVE that book.

I preordered The Vanishing Witch by Karen Maitland a while back to get a beautiful cloth bound signed ltd edition. Well it arrived today and is a beautiful book and bonus time , I akso got sent a specisl edition novella called Liars and Thieves based on characters from Nsitlands earlier book The Company of Thieves. I loved that book so the unexpected book really made my morning ☺
They are well worth it Rinn.Company of Liars is an amazingly good book i wouldnt hesitate to recommend to anyone. I've read The Owl Killers as well and really enjoyed it. I now have another four of her books including the Novella to read. She does the late middle ages brilliantly

Watch this space, as a leaving gift I was given £25 in book vouchers - guilt free book-buying!

In other news, a madly cackling red-headed woman was seen in London this afternoon followed by an army of books. If our sources are to be trusted, the books are reported to repeatedly scream: "Pick me, pick me!"
If you are a commuter in this area, you need to calculate in possible traffic delays due to this event.

Ahaha have you been looking at my diary Michael?! That is a scarily accurate picture as I will be travelling to London this afternoon!
(Also, my parents both deny that the cackling comes from their sides of the family :P )

Haha, no I just remembered Rinn talking about going to meet you in London a couple of times and I assumed that you live there.

It would leave me with enough to get another book 'free' and part payment on a third, so it wouldn't be too outrageous - though I find the hike in book prices disturbing, I think we are nearing the end of the era of cheap books.

The paperback is out next week 2nd Septemeber (quick turnaround) so if your not fussy it might be a bit cheaper and allow you to get another book again
SplashGot this at a book fair where I was selling/signing my books. Looks like a good vampire novel, and her booth was fantastically done.
