many thanks TA!!

That's the most annoying thing about booklikes. The having to add covers that are already on Goodreads. Plus, sometimes the edition is not the one you read.
My pleasure, Laura. I'm really just being selfish, though -- I know I'll want to access all these great guides written by so many members of the "migrated" community frequently enough myself! :)
My name is http://nobookleftbehind.booklikes.com - not leaving GR but decided to join just in case! Also, I always follow back!

I love BookLikes for being able to blog, for the friendliness of the community and for the responsiveness of the owners. I love GoodReads for the book pages and the groups. I don't feel the need to have to decide between the two, but if BookLikes grows enough to have good book pages (promised) and discussion groups (promised for the near future), I might spend a lot more time there than here.

No Book Left Behind Book Blog wrote: "So.. You don't like BookLikes? I'm confused."For me it is too soon to tell. I really like the blogging feature but searching for books is very challenging and the discussions seem limited to the blogs.

Hopefully BL will respond to members' suggestions and develop their reading groups and discussion boards further to meet demands.
So far I really like what I see. It's certainly not what I'm used to here at GR, but it's a decent replacement that has potential for growth.
Fellow BookLikers, Does anyone know if it is possible to see someone else's reviews when looking at the "reviewed" shelf? What I mean, is it possible to see someone else's reviews without having to scroll through the blog? (I do like the blogs but love browsing shelves and reviews also...)
I am mostly happy with BL except for today, when I can't rate books added to my shelves. (Their support, however, has been great, and they are working on it.)
@ Ulrike I just tried that and it worked fine. I'm assuming it only works if the person in question has chosen to let the shelf button be visible.

Really? Every time I go to the shelf with the reviewed books and click on a book it just comes up with the book description window but does not show the review.
I'm joining the group late since I joined BL, left GR then came back to GR and joined the group, but here's my link:http://lindtninja.booklikes.com/

Hi all! Joining this thread a little late I think. Just set up my BL here:http://liza.booklikes.com/
The set up there is so different, I feel like I'm starting from scratch! Hope to see you there. :)
Ulrike wrote: "Every time I go to the shelf with the reviewed books and click on a book it just comes up with the book description window but does not show the review."Do you mean the popup window? If so, it has a green link (about towards the middle), saying "Book page of this edition." Clicking on that link takes you to a book page that also shows reviews.
BookLikes does not yet have consolidated book pages, however. I.e., the reviews you see on the page that opens when you click on the link mentioned above are only reviews written for this particular edition -- AND only the reviews of people who have sourced the book (in the search bar at the top of your screen) through the same external party. E.g., if you search for a book using Amazon.co.uk as your search engine and then post a review that ends up on the corresponding book page, the only other reviews you currently see are those who have likewise searched for the book using Amazon.co.uk as their search engine -- AND have then posted a review on the same edition of the book where you have posted yours (hardback vs. paperback vs. ebook etc.). You do not yet see the reviews of those who have posted them on different editions of the same book, nor the reviews of those who have used a different external source (say, Kobo) as their search engine.
We've been given to understand that consolidated book pages (i.e., pages showing everybody's reviews, regardless for which edition and using whatever external source for the book data) are in the works and will be coming soon. But for the time being, edition- and source-specific pages are all we have.
Once the consolidated book pages are in place, though, I'm sure consolidated author pages (showing the reviews for all books written by the same author -- and possibly/hopefully also containing a bit of an author bio) are going to be introduced soon as well ... I'd really like to see those, too!

Yeah, I look forward to consolidated book pages, too. Thanks for the elaborate clarification on this.
What I was going for, tho, was that if you browse someone else's shelf - even the one labeled "Reviewed" - you don't get to see that persons review by clicking on the book. You'd still have to go through the book pop-up to the book page for the same edition and then try and find the individual review in the list of what could be a long, long list of reviews.
I asked BL about this earlier today. We'll see what comes out of it...

Oh, I see what you mean now. Sorry. :) Yes, I'll be curious to find out about that as well ...

I fall into the "just in case" category right now. Still debating whether I'll use it. :)
I follow everybody who follows me. There is a much friendlier atmosphere there and I am discovering new people whom I didn't know about here. And reading all kinds of reviews which is interesting.
I like the ability to have more fun with status updates there. I keep it bookish, but I've been doing quotes from what I'm reading, Word of the Day and book art as well, and I love some of the memes people post. It has far more personality potential than GR.
I don't like BL but I am going to start using it seriously if this is what GR is going to morph into - a site driven towards boosting book sales and disrespecting the people who generate content for it. http://samadrita.booklikes.com/
Just a comment on BL for those worrying about the book import - a lot of people have mentioned having issues with their books via the csv file import. I just wanted to add that I'm one that didn't have any trouble - but that it took about 7 days to import all my books and reviews from the day I hit upload. Even after the large chunk of them came through there were about 100 reviews that took several days to get into the system - but eventually everything did come through for me just fine, no data loss (around 1000ish books). The time it took probably had a lot to do with the sudden increase in population at BL, since I joined in the thick of the migration.
