Mostly cozy mystery. Some science, paranormal/UF, a little bit of general fiction, and non-fiction.

Right now, I'm staying, but have loaded all my books and shelves and set up a profile. So much functionality I see missing. I'm keeping my options open and don't want to lose touch with others who may be leaving for sure and for good.

My Booklikes blog. I don't really wanna move so I'll be keeping active on both sites until I see what way things will work out. I'm not sure if I like Booklikes or not to be honest. It's a bit clunky and I'm having a hard time learning how to navigate. But I've made a start, maybe I'll get used to it?

Haven't done much but import my cvs file and post a few pictures, just cause I can. :)

I added you lol! Its only a back up for now.

I dont have time for more baskets. It will do for now.

Yep!

Not jumping ship yet, but will be cross posting from now on! I will also slowly start to post my old reviews up there too, just in case!

I've been on BL since GR got in this lovely union with Amazon, but I couldn't really get into the way books were catalogued on there. So I'm staying here for the sake of a cataloguing only.

I'm a pretty eclectic reader (if characters or world building can suck me in) — but I read predominantly Science Fiction, Fantasy, and some UF/PNR. Not so much crime thrillers, mysteries, or dark stuff; I venture outside my genres into humorous chicklit and lighter stuff.
I've about read all I can handle of Steampunk and YA Dystopian books. There will always be authors that can transcend the formula so not ruling it out; just not likely to be interested any time soon.
I've always happily also kept my series read tracked at fictfact in addition to on goodreads (no csv import and not for standalone books unless they have plans I don't know about).
I'm trying sites that offer easy csv file import. Unless unacceptable TOS/privacy conditions, I don't mind letting any site have my book data in csv file even if I don't stay or participate.
I am liking booklikes (particularly now that I see familiar faces over there).
But, right now the site most like goodreads for me, including groups, is The Reading Room. Trying them, Leafmarks, BookRabbit, etc.
ETA: Edited again May 2016 to update sites on. The Reading Room did import books upon request but not a large membership so little activity. Leafmarks has great features, feed controls, privacy controls and some amazing features promised but lack of staff activity and updates this past year have made me suspicious it may not stay a viable site (Shelfari refugees loved their nesting and staff did fix a bug with Shelfari import -- surely that influx should have re-energized them?)
I know I don't like Librarything or the partial Amazon ownership but with their new app came free lifetime membership so I'm also there now.

I opened an account on The Reading Room, too, but there seem to be problems with import. (They promised that they can do the full import, if requested, but it takes time and there is no status info.) But I really don't like the interface. I'm not a fan of the one on Booklikes, either, but at least it's clear enough.

I'm at http://sandi.booklikes.com

I’m seeing everyone going over there, and I hope to join too, but I doubt if I’ll take that step before the year ends. Primarily because I have a submission deadline and GR is already taking up a reasonable amount of my time, and once I join BookLikes too, it will be difficult not to interact at both places. So for the time being, I’ll stay put and then come over on both platforms when I have enough time.
Just posting it here since some friends of mine have moved there, and have invited me but I cannot join immediately, so this serves as a common reply to them all, some of them having deactivated the messaging option.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I'm absolutely fed up with GR, so given some time and adjustment, I'm sure I'll be moving to BL permanently.

If you got the export file from GR, then you need to go to BL, click settings at the top of screen right side,
click import tab, click choose file and find the right one, click import button and wait, wait and wait. And after xx hours done.

**edit: I read mainly mystery and urban fantasy, with some fantasy and scifi thrown in. I also occasionally read math/econ/behavioral popsci and history.

I feel like I'm sort of flailing around on my own right now. Got to grips with customizing pretty swiftly though.

I'm attempting to learn the customization features at booklikes with little success as of yet.

I haven't really figured out how to customize yet. I wish there was more of a tutorial or stomething.

Or, on Booklikes, go to FAQ for a lot of general tips:

I'm not a big reviewer anyway.

You and me both. I wish there were some people who would offer their expertise in exchange for? for what? something really corrupt like 25 likes (just joking!) Seriously, I would pay for a Booklikes site designed how I like.

What would your ideal site look like Petra? I only know how to work the template that I use on my page so far but I can help talk you through customizing yours, if you want to give it a try?
I'm off to bed now (Scotland) but I'll be up bright and early in the morning in case you want to give it a whirl :)
No pressure though. Don't worry about saying no, I know there are a lot more experienced people here than me that you might want to get a walkthrough from, lol. :)

I love y'all.

@Frances -loved your comment!!! Cheers

Not sure if I will do that with new reviews or not. (I find BL's format makes it more likely for me to review.)"
That is such a good idea. Thanks for the idea.

Thank you! There's a five hour time difference, so I might miss you as I'm going sailing in the morning. I'll watch for you online.
I really just want things smaller and a background I painted years ago as a banner and everything else simple, white, plain.

At the moment I'm not leaving GR and not stopping reviewing, but my librarian editing work will be moved to focus on Booklikes catalogue. If any shelves/reviews of mine do disappear I'll be gone. The main reason I've opened a Booklikes account is that I want to keep in contact with the people who have already left, I don't want to lose them as part of my community.

Not sure what I'm doing but I created a BL account and thanks to this thread, was able to add friends. GR has been so much more than just a 'book cataloging' site - this was the first social media site I really interacted with and was invested in. So I'll go/stay where my friends are.
