Adriana | 3888 comments Does anyone want to read The Shadow Society with me this September or October?

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 773 comments Edge of Eternity came out yesterday. I'd put in a request for my library to get the audiobook on Overdrive, and I got the e-mail today saying it was ready for me to download! I have 3 weeks to read it, so I'll be done long before the Buddy Read in August.

Zara, we're still planning The Stand for an October Buddy Read, right? Somehow it's never gotten on the list.

It's on the list for October Theresa.

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments Are there any requests for November & December? We currently have 2 books for November and one for December. It may also be a good time to start thinking about what you might like to read in January/February 2015. It's not that far away now, believe it or not.

Hi Cassandra,

It's never too late to another book to the mix.

message 369: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 868 comments Anyone want to read The Desert Spear? We just finished The Warded Man in October for the buddy read. We could start this book in November.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 773 comments Zara, can you continue Swan Song as a Buddy Read in November? Some of us didn't get to start this book until a few days ago and will continue into the early part of November.

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments Hello everyone,

I was thinking that we could have a Christmas theme for the month of December for the BRs. So if you want to do this lets suggest some good Christmas books as BRs. We can also read non-Christmas ones , I just thought this theme would make it bit more interesting. Let me know what you think.

Zia, I actually just picked that book up at the store the other day and was planning on reading it after I turn in my final papers for my courses near the beginning of December. Having a buddy read might make it more enjoyable :) Have you seen the movie yet?

message 391: by Zara's Retreat (last edited Nov 30, 2014 08:19PM) (new)

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments Hello everyone.

Now is the time to think about what we want to read for January and February 2015.

I thought that maybe January would be a good time to try books by authors that are new to you or are of a genre you've never read before.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 773 comments Zara, on the thread for the 2015 Yearly Challenge: Let's Turn Pages, there's lots of interest in Buddy Reads for The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. Can you set these up as quarterly reads, with Dumas starting in January and Hugo starting in April?

For a "new to you" author, I'm also planning to read Clarissa, or, the History of a Young Lady by Samuel Richardson in 2015. This 1,534 page book published in 1748 is written as a series of letters, so I figure I can read a few letters each week as long as I finish in 2015. If anyone else is interested, that could be an open-ended Buddy Read.

message 393: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Would anyone be willing to read Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption in January? I have heard it is an awesome book, and the movie will be released the week of Christmas.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 773 comments Ashley, I've already read Unbroken, but I can attest that it is an incredible book.

message 395: by Cristal (new)

Cristal Punnett I would be interested in reading unbroken in January, it's been on my reading list for sometime.

message 396: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Yay Cristal. Lets read it! :) Thanks for joining me.

message 397: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Anyone interested in reading 1984 or Eat, Pray, Love as a buddy read in January?
Both authors I never read before, and on my TBR list for a long time..
Maybe they will be an inspiration for some new year's resolutions? ;-)

message 398: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariah90602) | 2284 comments New to this group. Recently read 1984, but I am interested in reading Eat, Pray, Love in January.

message 399: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Yay, welcome to the group Maria! :) Looking forward to reading Eat, Pray, Love together in January!
Anyone want to join us? :)

message 400: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariah90602) | 2284 comments Thanks! By the way, I did enjoy 1984 by George Orwell. I just finished reading Animal Farm by him too, so I do like him. I hope you enjoy it too. Did you ever see the movie Eat, Pray, Love?
