"Beginning in July" - so this thread is not for buddy read suggestions/invitations to take place before July 2014? (Just want to clarify, I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly!)
Karina wrote: ""Beginning in July" - so this thread is not for buddy read suggestions/invitations to take place before July 2014? (Just want to clarify, I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly!)"Sorry Karina. I obviously missed that bit when I did the cut and paste of Ashley's previous post. My apologies. I'll edit that to make it read as being current from now. Please forgive me.
No worries, Zara - I thought it was worth asking. :)Anyway, I've got one!
I would like to read The Emperor of All Maladies - let's say through November. It's a pretty hefty book. If anyone would like to read it with me, but can't make it happen in November, I'm perfectly happy to change the month.
YES, PLEASE. I've been wanting to read that for ages, but it's so intimidating. I would love to read it as a buddy read.
It's a long one. Can we have it for both October and November?Would anyone like to join us? It's supposed to be a really great science nonfiction book.

Consider me in (-:
Jodi, I read The Thorn Birds when it first came out and watched the TV mini-series with Richard Chamberlain many times. I'd join you, but I have too many books I've not yet read to do a re-read right now. If you've never read it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

I don't remember much about it except there was a priest and I think he falls in love. I am looking forward to reading it.
Yes!!! Thanks Jodi and Lianne :D Can't wait to read Carrie with you girls! It's going to be a great October read.
I really like buddy reads and it has been many many years since I have read a Stephen King book.I bought The Shining really cheap at Costco today. It might be a double feature Stephen King month :))

I was considering a quick re-read of The Shining, as the sequel(!), Doctor Sleep, is out in a couple of days. :)
is The Shining and The Thorn Birds going to be October reads? Also is there still interest in the following:Middlemarch
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
Fatherland?
If there is any interest in the three above mentioned books what month/s would you like to read them in?
Is there anyone interested in readingThe Husband's Secret with me. I am starting September 23rd. Thanks.

You missed Carrie for October!
Adriana wrote: "I wouldn't mind reading The Shining and Carrie too Jodi and Karina."Great Adriana and Karina! I wasn't listing The Shining as a buddy read necessarily. I was just excited about the great buy I got. So do you want to do both in October? It can be a Stephen King double feature.
As Karina said, Part 2 of The Shining is coming out soon.
@ Zara, I haven't had any interest in anyone joining me for The Thorn Birds, so as of now, it isn't a buddy read.It looks like Adriana, Lianne and I are doing a buddy read for Carrie.
Adriana, Karina and I are doing The Shining as a buddy read and hopefully others will join in with both Stephen King books.

Carrie is on the list which is why I didn't mention it. The ones I mentioned above were those ones that I wasn't clear about. Sorry for the confusion.
If anyone is still interested in reading Fatherland I'm up for reading it whenever.I read two of Harris' other books recently and loved them.

Hi Stefani,
I think Craig was interested in this one. Let me know what month suits you both.
Fatherland would work for one of my challenges in another group. I could join in with this one, too, preferably in October.
Theresa~OctoberLace wrote: "Fatherland would work for one of my challenges in another group. I could join in with this one, too, preferably in October."OK Theresa. I'll mark Fatherland down for October then. Will October work for you Craig and Stefani?
I'd be interested in reading Middlemarch but I would probably need to do it over three months due to the length of the book.Anyone willing to do this over three months with me?
Zara, when are you planning to start Middlemarch? I have the audiobook, which is almost 36 hours long. 12 hours a month would be no problem for me.
Theresa~OctoberLace wrote: "Zara, when are you planning to start Middlemarch? Do either of these work for you? I've wanted to read this book for so long.
Zara, among other books, I've got both The Emperor of All Maladies and Fatherland next month, so can we start Middlemarch in November?
Theresa~OctoberLace wrote: "Zara, among other books, I've got both The Emperor of All Maladies and Fatherland next month, so can we start Middlemarch in November?"Sounds good to me. Consider it done.
Adriana wrote: "I wouldn't mind reading The Shining and Carrie too Jodi and Karina."Hi Jodi and Karina. Can I join you too in reading the Shining also?
Tanesha wrote: "Adriana wrote: "I wouldn't mind reading The Shining and Carrie too Jodi and Karina."Hi Jodi and Karina. Can I join you too in reading the Shining also?"
For sure Tanesha! The more the merrier! That is what is great with buddy reads. Anyone who wants to is welcome to join.
Ashley and I have been talking about reading The Fault in Our Stars. Is anyone else interested in joining in?
Adriana wrote: "Yay! So many people joining for Stephen King books!Loved The Fault in Our Stars! Enjoy Kara (:"
It's the perfect time to read them what with Halloween this month! Can't wait to join the discussion.
Do you wantThe Fault in Our Stars for an October buddy read?I'll endeavour to put up all the relevant threads for these buddy reads tomorrow evening. I'll be out all day with my daughter at our annual royal show here. We haven't been to it for 4 years now. Here's some info. if you're interested: http://www.perthroyalshow.com.au/

Buddy Reads
This section is for all of our members who are interested in reading with a buddy or 2 or 3! All you have to do is:
1) Post which book you would like to read (Link or cover is fine).
2) Post the dates you intend to read the book (ex: Month of July, July 1 - July 15, etc.).
3) If you are interested in joining a nominated book, post which book you are interested in reading (Name and Link/Cover of Book).
4) I will create a thread for discussion of each of the Buddy Reads for the book and those interested.
This new way of Buddy Reads takes away the limit of three per month (series/non-series). Feel free to join in more than one buddy read at a time. In fact, it is highly encouraged. The more participation we have the more fun we will have!
