That way we can continue to grow the pool for future rounds of BBS. Thank you. "Many thanks for that, Daffodil! I tried to add a bunch recently, but it's close to impossible to keep up with every single book. Any member additions welcome as long as they are fantasy and series related in nature. Also, please mark any books you add as read, not to-be-read or currently reading, those shelves are used specifically for our book of the month and series reads. Thanks!
Team thread updated, Crystal :D
I added some books to the groupshelf a few days ago, specially in the dragons and sci-fi category, two shelves that are also in BSB. I added a few standalones though - I checked with Sandra and she said it was OK as long as they fit the genre criteria. But I have a question...can I read for Free Space a book I add myself?
is burning a whole in my iPhone!! Hahahaha!
Thanks for doing that, DG. Yeah, stand alones are fine, never know when one might become a series :)Yes, you can read a book for FS that you added to the bookshelf before the game.
Sandra wrote: "Shelf .... shelf ..... shelf ..... margarita .... shelf" Love it! Maybe add "Salt... Shelf...."
Rosina wrote: "close 8 minutes...going to make an ice cap then check back...I'm ready to read"An ice cap?
Steph wrote: "Yes, you can read a book for FS that you added to the bookshelf before the gameJust before the game or can they be added during (meaning after first shelf call)?
Well, we don't have a rule against adding/reading it after the game's begun, we just prefer it's done prior. But, as long as it's on the shelf (no matter the date added) it's allowed as a free space read.Reminder: All books must be 200+ pgs long
Shelf coming up ....
Regina wrote: "Oops -- I missed this! If any team needs a player or a sub let me know! :)"Will do, sorry you missed it, Regina. Definitely add your name to the PM thread and I'll message ya before the next round.
Regina wrote: "Thanks! No need to be sorry. :) My fault entirely."Still, hope you can join us next round. :)
What is proper bingo etiquette for players who haven't posted their book or acknowledgement of the shelf call yet? Not worried yet but just wondering how long I should give before I send a reminder message.
Did they check in before shelf call? If not, I'd message them reminding game has started. If so, I'd just tell moderators and let them keep an eye on it — not so bad that it's barely been 28 hours after the shelf call particularly if any time zone differences.
Mary, I'd PM both of them particularly as one is very new to GR as well as SOS. She probably doesn't realise she needs to check in & post her books.Go gently as it is very early on :)
I think all my players are newbies. They all checked in when the teams were first put up. I think since one is in the UK I will wait until tomorrow morning before I give a gentle reminder.
When PM'ing, you might want to try that near the time of day they first checked in. Or PM when you see them posting status updates or in other groups.I struggled a bit finding a TBR that was on the Strong Heroine shelf. Had a few hundred showing on variations of Kick-Ass Heroines but that didn't help. And I started looking while immediately slobbering over the shelf call the same second it posted.
Question re the Same but Different shelf and the series catch up shelves - Can the book chosen be a spinoff book - ie if I finished reading Weather Wardens by Rachel Caine, could my Series catch up book be the 1st book of the spinoff Outcast series? Wold that work for series catch up?
Hmmm, it would definitely work for Same but Different, not sure on the series catch up as they are new characters, just inhabiting the same world. Will confer with the other Ninjas and get back to you AH :)
AH, discussion amongst the Ninjas is that it wouldn't work for Series Catchup - the characters are too different - "it isn't close enough to be considered a continuation, more parallel."But does work for Same but Different shelf.
Some of us are starting to come up for air after enjoying the double book start to BSB R12 (Shelf, free space! YAY).So...got some charts updated!
BSB R12 Quick Shelf Check & Card Peek is here
.
Take a look...is your team's card correct, name correct, etc. and let me know here if it's OK or not. (Or if you have problems with the link!)
Sigh. Now what to do...
(Shelf....)
(sorry if this has already been asked) For Same but Different can it be another series by an author's pseudonym? Can I read a Nora Roberts book if I've only ever read her as JD Robb?
Is there a word for not wanting to start a new book because you are afraid it will be needed for an upcoming book challenge?

Jenne wrote: "Bingoitis lol?"Nah, that's for when you are screaming for a shelf call or for the next round to start.
