Aasia Abdali | 260 comments Mortimer J. Adler asked readers to hold their criticism till the end of the book. But since its a fiction i m taking the liberty of criticizing it. It was a potential idea but up till Cassete 3B the writer is being too shallow! It could have easily had the psychological drama that the situation is really calling for. For a girl mentally disturbed enough to commit suicide she is quite REASONABLE! I have been to that road when one is tempted to commit suicide but at those times i was mentally shattered and had A LOT OF disorganized thoughts and issues with my life. Well Lets see how the story unfolds! May be there is more to it. Maybe i am jumping to conclusions too soon

Mera koi kasoor nahi, company ka asar hy. :p

Let me mention that again, "NOBODY IS SUPPOSED TO READ MORE THAN THE ASSIGNED CHAPTERS/CASSETTES".
This is one of the reasons this thread is known as Buddy Read/Group Readings.

Nigham | 4042 comments "Jessica, my dear I’d really love to know if you dragged yourself to my funeral. And if you did, did you notice your scar?
And what about you—the rest of you—did you notice the scars you left behind?
No. Probably not.

That wasn’t possible.

Because most of them can’t be seen with the naked eye.

Because there was no funeral, Hannah".

:(

message 266: by Aasia (new)

Aasia Abdali | 260 comments I believe there can be only two reasons for suicide. To give up life, a life which is precious to even the blind and the crippled, is something extra ordinary and quite unnatural.
So i believe the reason to be either
Mental instability
Or
Lack of faith

And this by no mean is a fact. Its only my point of view. since these days i think brain is working more than my heart. I confess.

So what situations u guys think can drive any person to commit suicide?

She said she is scarred? Arent everyone is scarred in their own way. We are helpless because we hurt people every second of every day. Its hardly in our power to stop ourself from hurting humiliating other. But we all dont commit suicide.

Why do u guys think she did that?

But the Thing is She is very Confident and is delivering her last speech and is full of straightforwardness along with truth and courage with no fear!! Like She is already destroyed!! Self-destruction or maybe because of those 13 reasons. Or maybe she is doing the vengeance thing doing conspiracy against those person and want them to be dead as well as she is already destructed so no use to live!!

But lets see what happens next!!!

#NIgham Todays work????

message 268: by Aakash (new)

Aakash (mistyanon) | 5393 comments Mod
Yeah we do hurt people everyone does but some of us realize that we are doing that and when hurting is more than healing; then self-destruction is better i.e suicide or maybe isolation from the world! and many other choices are there as well!! That's what cells do in our body 2 millions cells die everyday means rbcs in our body to keep us healthy!!

message 272: by Aasia (new)

Aasia Abdali | 260 comments Self distruction there you have a new way of looking at suicide atleast i didnt think of this obvious possibilty! Okay let me think some more and then say something about self distruction

message 273: by Aasia (new)

Aasia Abdali | 260 comments But Amna isnt there always another way? Isn't just our brain just vershadowed every possibilty of getting away. I think she just only believed that she had no other way. Other wise there was a way which i shall propose at the end of the novel in context to her life

message 274: by Aasia (new)

Aasia Abdali | 260 comments Happiness i think is being content with the present. She was not happy i dont think she could have after all that horrible things people have done to her.

You know when one deiced to suicide????

Only when Death seems more lovely than life!!
Com'n when we think of death always our mind comes across so many things that we have dreamt of and wanna fulfill them and this feelings when comes we get back form suicide!!

BUt If we have no wishes left, no goals and targets and we are just finished then death is a pleasure and lovely thing and then person has no worries no hurdles to finish his/her life!!

گھبرا کے کہتے ہیں کہ ہم مر جائیں گے
مر کے بھی چین نہ پایا تو کدھر جا ئیں گے

Nigham | 4042 comments Sorry, it's irrelevant but has anyone read this book, Me Before You???

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

This was one of the most disturbing novels I've ever read, not that I didn't like it (view spoiler)

message 278: by Aasia (new)

Aasia Abdali | 260 comments I will say it again Akash Hapiness is being content with the present with whatever you have. Lasting and true hapiness cannot be found in the dream of the future nor in the memories of the past. It has to be about Now and Here. I strongly believe it Akash i do. And i can go much further in the here and now

This means you are firm on the ground you wont shake and at the same time you are flying in the air to maybe some unknown realities which u can experience but cant express

@Aakash- So soooo true. Reminded me of some quotes, "Even death has a heart."

“Please, trust me, I most definitely can be cheerful. I can be amiable. Agreeable. Affable. And that's only the A's. Just don't ask me to be nice. Nice has nothing to do with me.”

message 292: by Omaid (new)

Omaid ibn Naimet | 215 comments @sister amna.. i say as long as their is hope one would not suicide. that is true. hopelessness leads to suicide. even if one's life is miserable, the hope that it will all end one day and one would be granted paradise stops one from committing suicide. because then you're place is in hell. Hope for a better afterlife, after a tough one here, keeps you moving on.

@Omaid who remembers to stay still when one is drowning ;) same-wise who cares of hell and paradise when one is completely lost in darkness no one is there for them no one understands them and maybe they are just reserved!! The only way of getting raid seems to end life and that's it!!
