I've a looong list and "Mata-e-Jaan hy tu" is one my favorities. Yes! I know you didn't like it and have rated it one star... but I like Farhat Ishtiaq more than any Urdu writer.
Umera Ahmed is a good writer, too... Shehr-e-Zaat and Peer-e-Kamil are the books I liked most. Waiting for Aab-e-Hayaat...
Nimra Ahmed is A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Her book Mushif, is a fantastic book that has changed the lives of so many people. Give it a try!

I m with u on this! One cant blame others for having no hope no positivty. she just didnt wanted to live. I think this novel is not about hope or anything. Its rather more about consequences of our actions. The writer is simply asking us to think a thousand times before saying or doing anything to anyone.

Yes! And I really don't think that EVERYONE in her school is cruel.
And why didn't she talk to her parents? No matter what she was their daughter and they would listen to her.

message 466: by Aasia (new)

Aasia Abdali | 260 comments She was mentally ill i believe. So it was required for her condition to have people be extra sensitive interacting with her. But such cautions cannot be recieved because no one knows (and most of the time a person dont himself know) what is going on in their mind.

I think; (from your talks and which I have read)
1.she had too many exceptions from others!!!
2.she wanted to be treated as she was thinking.
3.World is unfair place so you have to cope with it.
4. World is not wish granting factory! :P
5.We have to learn in the society and she wanted to change it according to her.
6.She wanted all the variables(other people reaction to her, their intentions and all things surrounding her) in her control but reality is different.

message 470: by zainab (new)

zainab (zainab_sheikh) | 771 comments Zaynah, I don't think so. I mean, what if someone commits suicide and blames you for it?
Just because at some time in your life you were cruel to them.
I know that some of them don't really feel guilty but the others do and that's the point ; you don't know the 'repercussion' of it. You don't know how these tapes affected them.

Aasia Abdali | 260 comments Zainab wrote: "I still don't understand it. She shouldn't blame others for it. What if they want to kill themselves because of the guilt?"

Yup true! The people who think of commiting suicide are ill. But those who actually go on with and actually commit are just self centered selfish self occupied and what not!
Even if u commit suicide silently u r bound to leave holes giant holes in peoples heart and what a detestable person she was to actually torturing others to this much extent. If i were her i would have forgiven all of them maybe and not take such grotseque revenge by this blame game!

I think it's not about consequences either, whatever she was saying, it was just one side of the story. It was just how she saw and assumed and felt. One sided truth never meant to be accepted as truth. Other persons never got chance to explain their actions.

A few years ago, a 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…

“Dad, look the trees are going behind us!”

As his Dad smiled, a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, when suddenly he again exclaimed…

“Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”

The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…

“Why don’t you take your son to see a good doctor?”

The old man smiled and said…

“I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth and he just got his eyes today.”

Bhae esi baat hai tu let me ask u all a simple question. Morality is relative? Or morality is absolute? What is right for u might not be right for many people. Then would u change ur view based on majority vote?

I'm not claiming majority as right, I'm saying, third person cannot judge by listening one person and leaving the accused.

Hannah herself was a suicidal person. In the second cassette, she was recording in front of Taylor's window, which shows she didn't record all these just at once and commit suicide but it took her months or don't know how long to record. So isn't it like she had prepared her mind and just looking for reasons as excuse.

Yea I know that!! I wont change my ideology for people ever!! But we should not be so hard in our principals that we overlook humanity and be self fish as well!!

For example I am against suicide and killing!! But If someone give me a choice to either kill myself or kill my whole family!! What will I do?? Of course I will kill myself because in this case only a single person will be be wasted!!

and same like We are going in a car and there is a.c on in it!! and we are for people and other three are ok with closed windows and i want to open them!! Should I?? (because it will lower down the efficiency of a.c in the car!!

And yes For me Its relative;
Like If you are PM of pakistan and someone threaten your family and ask you to attack on other country what will you do?? save family or pakistan??

[[Light is messed up]]]

in the case of that story they should have asked why he is behaving like this is he alright?? rather than making their own paradigm and giving a free advice in advance!! as far as i can interpret it.

Then majority can't decide what is right and what is wrong? tu pir is there anything wrong or right on its own?

If it is not absolute then can u imagine what the world would become?
One has to decide! but yes we can falter and mind you we all will. but we cant start with the idea of every deed being relative we have to have absolutism to aim for. and then we will eventually need to deviate from it!

Yes!!! My Mother will never ask me to save her instead of saving mothers of millions of sons like me!!1 :)

And

@Aasia yea maybe its absolute but there are grading in it just like in math equation the DMAS rule and rule of solving brackets first and following then by small to large brackets!!

thing is we should be a well wisher of others more than fulfilling our own wishes!!!

Like every Dictator wants freedom that is basic in it but for himself!!! so we cant let him freedom only for him na???

And Thats completely okay what you save! Just have the feeling of saving and living for others!!! And that doesnt mean ignore yourself or loose self esteem and honor!!

And it happened because of selfishness and not obeying what Allah and Prophet had said!!
