I would love to read some urban fantasy set outside of the US. I know there are a couple of UK writers outguess but would love to see some set in Canada, Australia, or other European country...

I tend to be on the lookout for these too. There are a ton that take place in London, but I haven't had luck with any other area.A few I've found:
London: Midnight Riot,The Devil You Know,A Madness of Angels,London Falling,Full Dark House, Something from the Nightside,The Atrocity Archives,The Rook,Neverwhere
Ireland: Skulduggery Pleasant (YA), Artemis Fowl(YA)
Japan: Daughter of the Sword
Russia: Night Watch
I've also heard good things about Nalo Hopkinson
For UF with Asian elements, take a look at this thread from the Fantasy Aficianados group: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Books I haven't read, but am meaning to for precisely this reason:
--Canada/Caribbean: Brown Girl in the Ring
--Australia: Death Most Definite
--Japan: Stormdancer
Tanya Huff- CanadaIan Tregillis- UK (altho may be more fantasy, WWII era)
Michael Shevdon- UK
Steve Bein- Daughter of the Sword- Japan
Ben Aaronovitch- UK
Daniel O'Malley- I think UK
Not sure this is UF, maybe UF/SF, Liz Williams writes a series about a policeman investigating supernatural phenomena in a future Singapore. His wife and his partner are demons from Hell. He visits both Heaven and Hell in his work. Really good series, starts with Snake Agent.
There is also Keri Arthur with her Riley Jenson Guardian series set in Melbourne. UF but the main character has many love interests (a bit like Sookie). It's a good series if you don't mind the number of sex scenes.
Zoo City by Lauren Beukes
is very worth reading IMO. It's set in Johannesburg, South Africa. It's not conventional urban fantasy, it's not conventional anything. As well as Tanya Huff's
,
and she's got an older series of uf also set in Canada. She also writes science fiction and high fantasy that isn't set in Canada.Charles de Lint is known for writing in created the worlds of Newford and the desert southwest. But he lives in Ottawa, Canada and has some very good books set there or in Toronto:

is the only Hopkinson I've read, I think, but I really liked it...
Along with the ones previously mentioned (and including vampires etc, which I classify as more supernatural than urban fantasy and the alternative history volumes in which the world may be more steampunk than current) are the following:God Save the Queen by Kate Locke (England, kind of alternative victorian era)
A Conspiracy of Alchemists by Liesel Schwarz (Europe, alternative history, steampunk)
Royal Street by Suzanne Johnson (urban fantasy set in a post Karina New Orleans)
The Affinity Bridge by George Mann (set in Alternative England, steampunk, mystery)
Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff (set in an Alternative Japan)
The Magicians and Mrs. Quent by Galen Beckett (aka Mark Anthony) set in England
Heart of the Ronin by Travis Heermann (alternative Japan)
Territory by Emma Bull (alternative history of Wild West)
Of Blood and Honey by Stina Leicht takes place in Northern Ireland. It is very good! I second Brown Girl in the Ring by Nalo Hopkinson taking place within the Jamaican community in Toronto,Canada.
Charles de Lint earlier works take place in Ottawa:MoonheartMulengro/romany Tale. They are good, but if you have never read De Lint before, his later books, both the the Newford series and the newer Southwest books are a lot better.
The Rook by Daniel O'Malley takes place in England so does Elfland by Freda Warrington
Among Others by Jo Walton in Wales
Daughter of the Sword by Steve Bein takes place in Japan. I personally did not like it much.
And of course the great Daughter of Smoke & Bone series takes place in Prague and also in Marrakech.
That is all I can think of now. The Urban Fantasy genre is definitely dominated by English language authors!
Oh and The Secret History of Moscow takes place in Russia, I have not read it yet.
The fever series by Karen Marie Moning Darkfever, takes place in Dublin. The heroine is an American, though. It leans towards paranormal romance, but has some kick-ass in it.
The most recent Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews, which is #6 in the series, usually takes place in something like Atlanta, but this one is set in Abkhazia.
Does alternate realities apply? There is the Bloodhound Files set in alternate US ish setting. The first book is Dying Bites.
- first in Savannah, then into Egypt and London
- London, Venice then Crete (it's the 2nd book from the book above)
- Italy
