I'll hold off until you get your copy. Then we can start together. This is a re-read for me but I can't remember much of it other than the atmosphere and humor of it. It will be a great refresher.

Ooo. Clever Thomas. I feel like all the people/creatures in these books are like the fairies where they can't lie but they can lie by telling the truth. I like that he found a good way to feed and not hurt people. It must be hard to need to hurt people to live and then try to be a good person.

The vampires in general are really scary though. Dresden just loves poking at them. You think he has a good relationship with one then he goes and makes a wise-ass remark and gets everyone mad again. I'm surprised he doesn't have more people who want to kill him.

I'm glad that Molly is starting to understand the stakes. I think that means she's growing up. It will be good to have another good person on the team.

I'm a bit sad that Lash is gone but she seemed to not be much in this book. He was also using Hellfire all the time it seemed like which I thought he was trying to avoid before. I wonder what happens with the coin now. Maybe she'll come back somehow in a later book.

I'm a bit surprised they're still touting Susan as Dresden's true love. She's been absent for a long time now. Maybe this means she'll be coming back soon?

Overall I liked it but the books are starting to get harder to follow since they're getting more and more complex with all the history from previous books. 4 Stars.

I haven't re-read a book in so long now. I have a to-read list a mile long. There's too many good books out there.

I've not watched the show yet. At the time, I started it and decided to read the books first. That was years ago and I just read the books in 2013-2014, and then have been in reading mode and not watching mode lol

I'm reading this now, Kelly. I'm at the part (view spoiler)[where the duel/fight is starting at the White Court.

I think the memory after he falls in the water is supposed to catch us up on the references throughout the book to what he was doing last summer. If I recall, we didn't see any of that in the last book. It was disorienting though, and like you, I'm having trouble keeping the complex plot that's arcing through all the books straight. I feel like I need a primer on the Nevernever, the Red and White vampire courts, the White Council, etc. A cast list would be enormously helpful as front matter in these books! (hide spoiler)]

I've started Grave Peril (Book 3). I almost stopped after the second book again because it was tough to finish, but this one is a big improvement.

Prepare yourself. The end of book three is good but rough. Book four is where the series starts to really pick up!

It's my favourite so far and I really like the added mystery and all the White Council stuff. I'm very interested in what's up with Mab and what Lea meant with that Harry shouldn't trust her, yet. Also, who/what is the one behind the phobicphages? And all the other stuff mentioned when Harry talked with Ebenezar about. Also, I kind of don't trust Ebenezar. I don't know why but something is fishy about him.

I really like the idea of "Harry Dresden, teacher" and I hope everything will go well with that. I really hope that it doesn't end with blood, tears and death.. /o\

I also like, that Harry finally talked with Michael and that Michael knew and is there for Harry.

I'm crushing so hard on Thomas and Mouse. I know, Harry is the main character and everything, but I'm really, really happy every time Thomas and/or Mouse are mentioned and show up. /o\ *hides*

I'm at the end of Chapter 35 (63%) and I'm really loving this one. It is back to classic Dresden character development.

I am also really enjoying getting to know Luccio more. And the addition of Morgan as an "ally"?! or just someone to save? (hide spoiler)]

Reminds me of Kim Harrison's The Hollows series. I've heard this wasn't the best book in the series, so I'm looking forward to the rest, because 1/4 into the book, I'm liking it.

Chpt 7: (view spoiler)[Book started off with a bang and has lots of threads going: supernatural wizard murder, gangster Marcone tells Harry to back off the murder, missing husband possibly wizard and Harry on probation for violating Laws of Magic. I hope all these threads don't all intertwine. A novice wouldn't be able to kill those people. And why is the gangster interested in this murder? (hide spoiler)]

I am so scared for Harry, the thug cut off some of his hair! Why would Marcone need Harry's hair? Double agent?

Harry was just trying to protect Murphy, but I didn't like him lying to her. I hope they can mend their relationship. I like the unusual team - in this case, wizard and cop team, sort of like Grimm, True Blood or even Castle. (hide spoiler)]

Chpt 21: I feel like a car rolling downhill faster and faster, out of control...(view spoiler)[ things are really jumping now. Harry chanced on the photographer, Donny Wise, at Linda Randall's apartment. He took pictures of an orgy out at the Lake house of Victor Sells. Why an orgy...then Monica Sells explains that lust generates better power to make the ThreeEye drug. Jennifer Stanton is Monica Sells' sister. And she was probably trying to blackmail Victor or threatening him to leave Monica and kids alone.

Little Jenny Sells was a very cool young girl. I hope Harry is one of the good guys too.

For someone who is supposedly so careful, Harry has soul-gazed with Johnny Marcone and now Monica Sells and lost a lock of hair to Victor Sells. (hide spoiler)]

I liked the first few books, but it really does step up a notch after that so I do understand people that are a bit "take it or leave it" after the first book
