Ashley Marie (darlingdoor) | 1733 comments I'll be starting it as soon as I'm allowed to download that sucker lol! So, whatever is good for you works for me, LK.

Soooo... you mean you want to start GS in April and CD in early May?

message 455: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie (darlingdoor) | 1733 comments Works for me! Sorry, I'm on my phone and I misread your first comment... Which doesn't change my answer at all, but I now realize my response wasn't terribly clear!

The “stand alone buddy read” for Ghost Story (The Dresden Files, #13) by Jim Butcher is here. I put the start date as April 13th, which seems appropriate, since it is #13.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Changes was rough, but so good!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Steven wrote: "Changes was rough, but so good!"

Definitely. I'm glad I didn't have to wait for GS like people did when Changes first came out.

message 461: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Me too! Though I have to finish a few ARCs before I can read it and it's killing me to wait!!!

I'm trying to tear through them to get back to Dresden!

I'd say I'm up for a buddy read but I'm so bad about answering the questions consistently! Lol!!!

The “stand alone buddy read” for Cold Days (The Dresden Files, #14) by Jim Butcher is here. You all just need to let us know what date you want to start. Probably early May?

message 464: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments I might join in late, the last one I read was Small Favor so I have to catch up a little...

I only just finished number 6 today. I'll catch up with you all in about a year ;)

message 466: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 757 comments As I read one a month, two tops, I might be in a similar situation, Karen LOL. So far, last month I finished White Night, and I'm up to Small Favor next week :)

message 467: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments I finished Turn Coat yesterday! Great as usual. (view spoiler) I love how the worldbuilding keeps getting more and more complex with each book, and how the characters develop.

What's everyone's favourite book in the series so far?
Mine are Small Favor, Summer Knight and Dead Beat. I can't decide between them!

message 468: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Aw, Cin. That's too hard to decide on! LOL! Although, I did really enjoy Dead Beat.

message 469: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Summer Knight has definitely been my fav / most memorable so far.

message 470: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments I've just finished Changes. I'm stunned. I just have no words, there's so much that happens to Harry in this book...
It's 1 a.m. here in Argentina but I'm going to start with Ghost Story anyway. I need to know more!

I know what you mean. ☺ I've also went immediately to it (yesterday) and now have only few chapters left.

I miss Dresden's 'real' voice *sigh*

message 472: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'm 51% into Ghost Story myself! :P

message 473: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments And you're rereading series from start. :P All of them or only first one?

message 474: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'm just reading the chapters as my partner does -- I kept telling him funny things from them and he decided he wanted to read them. BIG THING, as he rarely reads. So I told him I'd keep up with him so we can talk about it and I don't risk spoiling things before he gets to them lol

message 475: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments
And do you manage not to spoil things? :P You still know what's going on.
I tend to blurt things out after a while, no matter how hard I try. Good thing it's not a problem in RL - only one friend is serious with reading and we are currently reading different things. And she's a type of person that reads last chapter first. (I could never understand that.) I'm trying to get her to read Dresden and Atticus, but she's still resisting. ☺

message 476: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I make very certain to ONLY talk about things that are specifically IN the chapter he tells me he finished. :P

message 477: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm a pathological spoiler. No matter how hard I try, if I'm excited with the book... jeezz... ask Eni, she'll tell you.

Actually, better not. She may still be upset with a current spoiler for something.

message 478: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments Done with Ghost Story too! I've pulled a marathon LOL
I loved it as usual, but I was a little disappointed by the ending. (view spoiler)

Wow. That was quick! You've done it faster than me. ☺

To be honest, I'm also disappointed with ending. Had to repeat last two chapters (I was listening to audio) since I thought I missed/misunderstood something. (view spoiler)
I did love (view spoiler). :P

message 480: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments ❀Tea❀ wrote: "Wow. That was quick!"

I'm feeling a little guilty now, because I should have been studying instead of reading, but I couldn't stop!

The ending was actually confusing, (view spoiler)

I'm also going to take a break before the next one, not so much because of the ending, but because I really need to study!

I didn't get many of the references to (view spoiler)

message 481: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shelld79) | 288 comments I just recently finished listening to Grave Peril on audio and I am definitely hooked on this series now. Three books in and I just love it!
I can't believe I didn't even know this series existed until you guys started this thread a few months ago!

message 482: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments So glad you enjoy it, Michelle. Yes, one of the best series I ever heard about via GRs first.

message 483: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments Just finished Cold Days! I'm very surprised and intrigued by lots of things that happened in this book. (view spoiler)
I'm all ready for Skin Game, I can't wait!

message 484: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments Guys, I just found out Jim Butcher did an AMA on Reddit this weekend! Here's the link: http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comment...
I should warn you that some of the questions are spoilerish, up until Cold Days.

message 485: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Thanks, Cin. I just spent the last 49 minutes reading that thread. ☺

message 486: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments I'm about 2/3 through Proven Guilty right now. I think taking a break from the series for a few months made me fall in love with Harry all over again. The tension with the Carpenter family is so deliciously painful. I can't wait to see how this all resolves.

message 487: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I NEED PEACE TALKS NOW!!! NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!

message 488: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments If I read one per month again, it'll take me to February and then Peace Talks won't be too far away!

I just discovered today that he is also working on a new steampunk series. OMGOMGOMG. I love steampunk so this has me sooooo excited!!

message 489: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Yeah I'm looking forward to the Cinder Spires too, and luckily still have the Codex Alera to read!

message 490: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Yeah, the next can't come out fast enough for me. I think I'm going to try some of the graphic novels, which I've never done before.

message 491: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments I was thinking the same thing Lisa Kay! Although I'm a graphic novel fan anyway.

Dead Beat (The Dresden Files, #7) by Jim Butcher
I'm finally starting book 7!

15% in and I love the introduction of Butters as Harry's side kick for the book. That scene in the morgue with him doing the polka was gold

And what's the go with Murphy and Kincaid?! Great that Harry realised he was feeling a little jealous :)

message 495: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 56 comments Karen, you're in for a treat! Dead Beat is, in ny opinion, one of the best books in the series, and it has THE most awesome Dresden scene ever.

message 496: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Karen - I'm also on Dead Beat and about 35% in. I'm liking this one better. Loved the polka scene too. Lol

message 497: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments I finished book 4,Summer Knight, but have to go back and read Grave Peril. I was listening to the audio player and it wouldn't play Grave Peril.

message 498: by Saphirablue (new)

Saphirablue (I hope I'm doing this right - this is a general thread about the Dresden Files, right? If not - sorry!)

I finished Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher yesterday. And, to be honest, I didn't quite like it as much as I did Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher for whatever reason. Now I'm eagerly waiting for Blood Rites (The Dresden Files, #6) by Jim Butcher to be delivered, since this is the book a friend (who got me into Harry Dresden) of me said, that this one has been the turning point for her and that she's curious about my reaction to it... (which absolutely doesn't make me curious about this book at all ;))

Overall reaction to the series so far under the spoiler: (view spoiler)

Yes, you are right.

Curious enough, Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher was also the last chance I gave Harry to woo me... and woo me he did. I actually liked Blood Rites (The Dresden Files, #6) by Jim Butcher better than Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher .

I need to stop stalling with Proven Guilty (The Dresden Files, #8) by Jim Butcher and get back on the dresden-track. But there are so many great books I also want to read!!!!

message 500: by Saphirablue (new)

Saphirablue *phew* :)

Ha, that's very interesting. :) That gives me hope that you liked Blood Rites (The Dresden Files, #6) by Jim Butcher more than Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher :)

But there are so many great books I also want to read!!!!

I know what you mean... *looks at her to read shelf and pile*
