What are you reading this week?

I've read the O'Malley series three times now. The recent release of Jennifer: An O'Malley Love Story made me want to read through the others a third time after I finished. I highly recommend Full Disclosure, which has some O'Malleys walking through :-).

I have read Unspoken. For the most part I liked it, but did find that she got bogged down in a bit too much information concerning coins which took up about a third of the book.

Aw that's a great scene! That's so true, too. I have lots of friends who are not Christians. I hate it when Christians are so hateful to non-Christians. That's not what Jesus taught.

Ausjenny, that is awful! I hope things get better soon. There's been a few times I've been too distracted or sick to read. That's when I know it's serious as I read all of the time.

Right now Camy I'm reading the Love Inspired Suspense Texas Ranger Justice series. My friend has the entire series of six books and I started with Daughter of Texas and have read through to Threat of Exposure this week. I have one left to go. It's a good series.

I have the Texas Ranger series! I think I only read 2 or 3 of them when they first came out, and then I forgot about them when the others came out, but I have the books on my shelves.

just finished Silent Night: A Spenser Holiday Novel and it was so great to "hear" Robert B. Parker's voice again. this was the book he was working on when he died in 2010. I love his dry sarcastic humor! Now I'm reading an advance copy of Do Or Die by Suzanne Brockmann. I'm excited to meet brand new characters since this isa new series and get to revist crossover characters from the Troubleshooters series.

Oh, okay. I started the O'Malley series but actually never finished it--not from lack of interest, just forgot about it because I started the series when there were only 3 of the books out.

I've never read Robert Parker. I take it you like his books a lot?

RBP mixes humor, wisdom, sarcasm, friendship honor, and some butt-kicking action. He had a very lean writing style. Spenser had his own set of rues but rules were stillessential. They were often tested in the grey world where his cases took him. I could have lived without the fat people and poor people put downs. But i enjoyed seeing the world through his eyes. A fitting ending for the author. His unique voice in fiction is missed!

He sounds like an author I'd like. Which book should I start with?

RBP has three series...Spenser (about 39 books), Jesse Stone (CBS movies with Tom Selleck based on this series) and Sunny Randall (who I think of as the more pampered non-Chrstian version of your Tess.) I love them all but Spenser is the more original of the characters. I started with the Jesse Stone series though. You can mostly jump in anywhere in any of the series but the first dozen or so Spenser have some ongoing relationship plots.

I started Unspoken today- it picks up nicely from where Full Disclosure left off, and FD has a few O'Malley cameos thrown in that follow nicely from where that series left off.

I love it when authors do those cameos! I do that a bit with my Sonoma series with Love Inspired Suspense.

I like that too- I'm always the one who wants to know what happens after the story ends :-). I write that way too- my two novels are sequels, and my upcoming releases are all connected as well. The pastor of my fictional church either shows up or is mentioned in both novels plus the anthology pieces I've written.

I finally got a copy of Dani Pettrey's, Shattered. Really enjoying it. I'm also reading Davis Bunn's newest one Strait of Hormuz. I've had mixed reviews on Davis Bunn but this one is good so far.

I've read a few other Susan Meissner books but not that one. How does it compare with her other titles?

I just got my internet back after an entire WEEK without it! The water main construction guys working on my street accidentally cut the cable line, so we had no TV or internet until the cable was fixed! I was crawling up the walls without internet! I went over to a friend's house to hijack her wireless for a couple hours, but didn't get done as much as I wanted to. I can't believe how much I depend on my internet!

It compares well. I read Blue Heart Blessed before I read this one. In All Deep Places is a good read- a little different from Blue Heart Blessed (this isn't a pure romance- as the title suggests, it's deeper than that), but good nonetheless. It started a little slow for me, but she pulls you in with her characters and keeps you pulled. It wasn't predictable either- I enjoyed that aspect in particular.
