Camy wrote: "OH MY GOSH!!! I hope you're feeling better now! I will definitely remember that because sometimes my contact gets a little stuck to my eye. I hope you enjoy Formula for Danger!!!! I'm so honored that it's your first book to read after your "cyclops" period! :)"

The ophthalmologist/eye surgeon told me it is caused by dry eye caused by wearing it too long, getting chlorine (or other substance) in your eye, or so forth. He told me if it gets stuck to use rewetting drops or saline solution to moisten it. Always slide it left or right off the curvature of your eye where you can pinch it off. Losing my cornea and eyesight from something so stupid, extremely humbled me to the Lord and that I belonged to him and to accept his will and to know that he would take care of me no matter what ended up happening to my eyesight. That is why the message you wrote to me that came in the mail was so relevant.

Thanks for everything I'll tell you how I liked Formula for Danger by Camy Tang Formula for Danger.

Heather (readingrainbowbrite) | 103 comments The Governess Of Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky. It's a Regency (or maybe Victorian) that's a cross between Downton Abbey and Jane Eyre.

message 114: by Heather (new)

Heather (readingrainbowbrite) | 103 comments It is! And it's a part of a series. Even better! Julia (the heroine) is like the best parts of Jane Eyre and Lady Mary from Downton Abbey.

Ladette (pwnmom) | 10 comments Just finished Not By Sight by Kathy Herman-- loved it! And just finished Alone, Yet Not Alone -- it was interesting. Now I'm reading The Icecutter's Daughter by Tracie Peterson. I read The Quarryman's Daughter and it was a good read, so I am thinking this one will be too!

Oooh! Thanks! I'm heading there now! I love John Stott. His Sermons on the Mount Bible study book is one of my favorites.

message 121: by Heather (new)

Heather (readingrainbowbrite) | 103 comments This is my first exposure to John Stott but I can tell that many of the preachers I listen to/read have been influenced by him because much of what I've listened to sounds very familiar. I really like the chapter on Christ's character.

message 123: by Beth (new)

Beth (canadianbeth) I am halfway through Not by Sight myself. It started out slowly for me but has picked up considerably.

I have Strand of Deception by Robin Caroll waiting at the library, and am #1 on the list for Rescue Team by Candace Calvert and Doomed Queens as well. Hopefully I can get and read those before we go on a short trip starting the 15th. I do not want to have to take them with me; would prefer my e-reader then.

I prefer my e-reader when I travel, too! I used to pack at least 10 books with me whenever I traveled just so I would have a selection to choose from when I finished a book! Now I just have my ereader. I loooooooove it!

message 133: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrie) I haven't read RC sproul's promise of God yet. I better to put down the list to see if I find one in our church library.

I am now reading Threat of Darkness by Valerie Hansen.

WOW that looks really good! Let me know how you like it when you're done!

I admit I just took time out to read The Enchanted Barn again last night (I got the ebook version by Unforgotten Classics and it was nice to read it free of typos). I love that book!!!!! I'm not even sure why I love it so much!!!!!

message 138: by Heather (new)

Heather (readingrainbowbrite) | 103 comments I sheepishly admit that I have never read anything by Grace Livinston Hill. I know I totally should! Our library has a ton of them including the no time limit paperbacks so I don't have an excuse.
Jerry Jenkins could make drying paint exciting. Which is a good thing in this case because the excitement doesn't kick in until halfway through. It's a very interesting concept though. Two parallel stories, set 2,000 years apart, that converge to give God the glory. :-)

The heroine in my WIP isn't a Christian but she's read the Bible cover to cover. She's used to the people in her life breaking promises. So it's hard for her to trust that God is a promise keeper. I'm hoping RC Sproul's book will give me some wisdom to share with Auburey on her journey. :-)

ROFL!!! Too funny about Jerry Jenkins!!!

I think you might be pleasantly surprised by reading a Grace Livingston Hill book! Start with The Enchanted Barn--it's free and it's a really good book.
Enchanted Barn on GoogleBooks

The thing to keep in mind is that it's actually a historical novel--it was written in 1917 or so, and the setting and culture are more similar to reading a historical novel, so take some things with a nod toward the time period.

message 142: by Judy (new)

Judy | 181 comments Read Finally a Bride by Renee Ryan earlier this week. Then Flirt! by Lisa Scott and now I'm proofing a book so I can't tell you. We are at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland and I have reading time but we are always moving around between appointments. Maybe on the plane home I'll read my other NetGalley book from the K-9 series. A Christmas one with Shirlee McCoy and Terri Reed.

It's a great story concept. It sort of reminds me of the movie 13 Going on 30 where she suddenly ages to 30 and realizes what a terrible person she's become.
