Getting ready to go out for a while. Probably won't get much more reading in tonight, but I did pretty good today. Just catching up on posts before I leave.

Personally, I think Under the Dome should have gone with some "less pretty more gritty" casting choices, but ..."I guess I have to see more than one episode before I can honestly comment, but it looks like the show definitely has to be taken separately from the book. As far as "less pretty, more gritty", I couldn't agree more. I didn't picture any of the characters as being anything but your regular joes. When I looked at picture cards that came with the book, I noticed that none of the characters seemed to be drawn as particularly pretty or good looking.

We have one in Conway NH, and though I haven't seen it in person, the pictures of it look pretty cool!
idk bout anywhere else but there's only the one in the usa, at least there's only one website and schedule for it lol
Joycedale wrote: "idk bout anywhere else but there's only the one in the usa, at least there's only one website and schedule for it lol"It looks like the one that stops in Conway, may be an engine that tours around the country. Originally I thought it was a local car, but apparently not. It's probably a similar situation in the winter when you can get a ride on The Polar Express.
Just finished up the final draft of a new short story. Happy happy. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
Time for you to take a break then? You deserve it.
My husband and i saw Thomas with the kids in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, so I know it goes there every year. Pretty cool experience.

Something on the lighter side? You rock Adam! I truly admire you as a friend and an author.

Thanks, Cindy. I feel the same about you. Night night. Just got Emily tucked in and I am about to crack Ketchum's Offspring.
I have to work in the morning. Just finished one book, so I'm calling it a night. See you good folks tomorrow after work.
Adam wrote: "Just finished up the final draft of a new short story. Happy happy. Hope everyone had a great weekend."Awesome Adam!
I am spending the day in bed working today. Why in bed well it is the only room in the house where the boys think twice about coming in to see me and I actually get some work done.

I'm having my first coffee of the day, and I'm about to go get ready for work. Pretty slow moving this am. Oh Monday, how I loathe thee.
Regarding Thomas the Tank Engine, I recently snapped a picture of it travelling on the back of a semi on I-77, heading north. (I was in the passenger seat, before the nasty grams start.)

Interesting. I see Under the Dome is getting a 2nd season. So much for a quick mini-series! I'll be curious to see how long they can drag this out! But I am enjoying it, at least.

Catching up on all the posts and really excited that our group has surpassed the 300 member mark. We kick butt!! I am currently reading four books, but I'm going to just focus on one at a time in an attempt to actually finish one or two before we start Swan Song. Staying in tonight, so that should help. Already washed a load of clothes and cooked dinner, so all that's left is my shower. Tonight it is nothing but Showdown and reading posts.

Kinda bumming. I have so many books on my currently reading list but I don't feel like reading any of them today, other than THE TERROR, which I'm only supposed to read a few pages of day.I have a feeling my CR is about to become ridiculously huge, lol.
If you wanna see something cute, go into the group photos and look at my cat laying on my purse. She was definitely telling me that I was not going anywhere tonight. Still need to take a shower and haven't gotten a lot of reading done tonight. Blah, blah, blah
Going to bed now. Not a very good night physically. Tomorrow is another day.
Good night, Cindy. :)I'm trying to decide what to read next. I can go with a heartrending story about a girl surviving the work camps of Siberia during WWII, or a contemporary thriller. Decisions, decisions.
Surviving work camps in Siberia??!! That sounds unreal. For me I was always try not to read the same style of book back- to- back.
Dennis wrote: "For me I was always try not to read the same style of book back- to- back."I try to do the same thing, too. :) Although, sometimes I get into a mood where I crave a specific genre for a period of time.
I do that with book series that i get into. I try and force myself to experience a little variety :)
Dennis wrote: "I do that with book series that i get into. I try and force myself to experience a little variety :)" Oh, I definitely know what you mean. Sometimes, if a series really grips me, I'll have to consume every book available in the series before I can move on to something else.
There are also certain books that will stay with me to a point that I have to wait a few days until they are completely out of my system before I can pick up a new book.
Lol! I know, but its a long book. This is only my third really long book. Who knows when I'll finish it?
Rachel wrote: "Dennis wrote: "I do that with book series that i get into. I try and force myself to experience a little variety :)" Oh, I definitely know what you mean. Sometimes, if a series really grips me, I..."
That's funny you say that about books staying with you a few days. I have that same thing happen (with the really good ones) that I really cannot start another book. I find myself seeking out other people's reviews, chats, anything else that will keep that book alive for a little while longer.
I know it sounds kind of crazy.

I do that with reviews. I like to see how my thoughts matches up with others after I read the book.
I am sat in a meeting waiting for the participants to turn up who are late wishing I had brought a book to keep me company
Addy wrote: "Lol! I know, but its a long book. This is only my third really long book. Who knows when I'll finish it?"Addy wrote: "I couldn't help myself, started Swan Song:)"
If I hadn't already read it, I would have started it when it looked like it would win! I'm not a fast reader, so I like to try and get a jump start.
I am almost finished with Offspring and then it's time to read Swan Song. Can't wait to catch up with our earlybirds...They should get a head start while I am at work today, though. ;)

How long since you read it, Rick?
Raining pretty good here. I wish I were home reading instead of sitting in my office working. But I would still want the pay, so I don't think that'll work out right now. LOL!
Dennis wrote: "I know it sounds kind of crazy."No, not at all! Hey, this is GR--we've all been there. :D
Do you have any authors that you feel that way about? I have very few auto buy authors, where I have to consume everything they write. No matter how much I love an author, I will still have to read the blurb and a sample of the book before I decide whether to buy it.
Chuck wrote: "I do that with reviews. I like to see how my thoughts matches up with others after I read the book."
Me too.
My goofy youngest dog-ter (we never had kids, so instead of 'daughters' we have 3 'dog-ters'), who is a rescue pup, climbed up on the dash one day while we were driving down the street back when she was just a few months old (she's 2 1/2 now). I posted her picture in the Photos, if anyone wants to see her. And yes, the van was in motion. She's a cutie, but she knows it! LOL!
