Okay, hate to admit this, but it was probably almost 25 years ago. Yikes!

At the pace I've been going lately, I should have started it weeks ago.

I thought that was one of the very best ones.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Bronson Pinchot is definitely the best part of it. Craigy Waigy! My daughter is loving it.

message 473: by Addy (new)

Addy | 379 comments Did some early morning reading. Then my husband made us French toast and omelets. Yum! Looks dreary out today, but the breeze feels nice:)

Rachel the Book Harlot | 63 comments I'm home today, waiting for a repairman to arrive to fix one our breakers. Con Edison, our local electricity/gas company, switched out our old meters for new digital ones, and the tech accidentally damaged one of the breakers. The lovely thing is that they now refuse to fix it! They said fixing breakers is not their responsibility and that I have to hire an electrician. I'm so angry I could spit nails.

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments I posted more cute pictures (if you like dogs) in the photo section! :-) And I'm at work. There's a big meeting the brokers are preparing for, so it's keeping me as Compliance very busy today!

Rachel the Book Harlot | 63 comments Joycedale wrote: "they'd have a fight on their hands if that was me"

Oh yes, they are definitely going to reimburse me for the expense. I'm going to make sure of it. Ugh, I'm so pissed off right now. That particular breaker was attached to the bathroom so there is no electricity flowing into that room at the moment.

They damaged it so they should pay for the repairs. You probably don't want them doing the repairs since they did so well with switching out the meters to begin with!!

Dennis | 24 comments Rachel wrote: "Do you have any authors that you feel that way about? I have very few auto buy authors, ..."

I had in the past bought anything by John Grisham but since discovering Goodreads I would say no. I don't have time to read as much as I'd like so I go off recommendations. I have discovered so many great books that I'm more selctive in what I read.

message 481: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard After I saw the really cute pictures of Brenda's dogs, I thought I'd include one of mine. They were being really well behaved, without the aid of doggy downers, so I thought it was a good opportunity.

message 482: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC I'm hopefully about to do some good reading. I didn't hardly get much read last month. Hoping to have a big month this month.

Lol...They're Shih Tzu's. When their hair gets just a little bit longer, it gets cut off. Then they run around with big moustaches and beards and hair still on their tails!

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments They're adorable! And wow, to get them to stop and look at the camera! You did well!

message 486: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Well, this one sent chills down my spine, although I suppose it really shouldn't bother me.

There is an interesting article in our local paper this morning entitled "Man Who Killed Family as Teen in Texas Found Teaching at Millikin" (http://herald-review.com/news/local/m... for the whole story). Millikin University is just a couple of blocks from our house. And this man has lived about 4 doors down from us for the 22 years we've been in our home. And we've spoken with him numerous times.

In googling the story, I also located this, which includes pictures from the original murder scene: http://wilcoonline.com/clients/wilcoo....

Now granted, he's now been a psych professor (yeah, go figure!) at Millikin for like 27 years. And he's done a lot of good. But really??? I mean, really??? This is the closest I've ever been to something like this! Frrrreeeeeaaaaakkkkkkyyyyyy!!!!!

Rick Shepard Brenda wrote: "They're adorable! And wow, to get them to stop and look at the camera! You did well!"

Thanks, they're my kids! BTW, does the psych, psych professor down the road have a family of his own now? I didn't notice any mention of it in the article, and that might be a little strange as well.

message 489: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments No, he's always been a loner. He'll wander down the block to a little bar that's known for its burgers, but that's about the only place I ever run into him. Otherwise if we wander by his house and he's sitting on the porch, he always says hi and talks a little.

I know when the college kids in the area who have moved off campus get too rowdy and the cops are called, he's always out on his curb with his video camera. He told my husband and me that he's going to make sure the cops don't get too rough with these kids, that they have too much power anyway.

message 490: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Wow, this happened when he was fifteen years old 45 years ago was found not guilty by reason of insanity for two of the murders and put in a state mental hospital for 6 years.

I guess they could still bring charges against him for the other murder?

I'm just not sure how I feel about this.

message 491: by [deleted user] (new)

I have been out of action for a couple of days. I WILL NOT give in to the health issues!! Gonna take it easy tonight, but plan to do LOTS of reading this weekend. Told my boss that my body needs a break from the overtime just one weekend. Need to catch up on some of my reading and I'm READY. Just taking it easy tonight, so I can have some energy this weekend to read. Costs of prescriptions SUCK.

Are you seriously able to read a novel a day? I envy you, I'm not a particularly fast reader. I get there in the end though.

I did today, but I already had a book picked out and it was only 288 pages Took forever, too. Interruptions every time I'd get into a zone.

Very true. lol Thankfully, it was a very quick and inexpensive fix. The electrician fixed the issue in under 10 minutes.

@ Cindy: hope you're feeling better.
