It's sure on life support. I think a few good changes might bring it back around, but they need to happen quick.
This is my first group as well and I love it very much and all the people here.
First poor Angie got really sick, then poor Cindy got even worse sick and got stuck in the hospital...I myself have been absent a lot, for months, due to my work in tourism which is basically 24/7... Due to that I haven't been the best moderator and this was the topping on the bad cake :(
I really hope this group will not die out.
I was told that summer is usually quiet, but here is October ending and it's like winter is already here, everything is frozen and quiet.
I really hope it will liven up because I found some really great friends here and met even more great people.

We do seem to be hit with some bad luck if we can get a core group of people together who will chat regularly and post we should breath some life back into the group.

I sure hope so. We have a saying here: "From your mouth to God's ears" :)

Angie,it's not that bad, I'm bad mentally, depressed and that takes it's toll on my body as well, being closed all the time inside the 4 walls is not peachy :(
And my boyfriend and I, we've been 8 years together and we are constantly having shitty things happening. His father had a heart attach 3 days ago, barely stayed alive...and today my boyfriend got hit by a stupid woman from behind, he was driving a motorbike...I mean is she blind or what?! He was driving real slow, turning into the petrol station and she managed to catch his license plate and his tyre with her front tyre and instead of slowing down she accelerated from fear when she saw what was happening and of course run him down. He fell down really badly, has damaged his bike, we are out of money, he thought he was ok but then he went to the ER later when the pain started and he damaged his elbow really badly. Barely had money to pay for the Er as well. And this is nothing what has been happening to us all these 8 years, it's like we are cursed dammit! He has no driving licence and no way to get paid to repair the bike, he barely managed to pay for his father's hospital stay...oh shit, well anyway... The worst part is that I personally have always been lucky in my life...actually still am if it's just about me,but he is a really unlucky person and since we are together, well, you know, in bad and good or whatever the vows go when you get married... Have you ever heard that anyone was stung by a bee in the eye?! Yeah, that's him! And his now blind on one eye, can see only 30 %...I've been through all the hospital departments with him since we started dating and it just doesn't want to stop. And he was more or less healthy before we got together...maybe the stars are not on our side as my friend told me and we just shouldn't be together...bloody horoscope :)
Enough about me!
Glad to see you here again Angie :) Does Cindy know you're back and about :)))

Jason, I'm really happy you liked it. I would love to help some other friends as well but by their description what they asked for, I just couldn't think of anything unfortunately as it didn't fit my usual readings :(
I might be able to help you with some of these books if you don't have them...though some are as well freebies, maybe some are lendable, would have to check, let me know what you like and I'll let you know :)
P.S. I did post my request for a recommendation, but since we are mentioning it, i'd love to find some read that are a combo of sci-fi and horror, something like the movie Alien, or whatever, don't watch to many many movies so I'm short on suggestions but I think you get the point :)

Here is an author who I think is fantastic, but I have not read the books that might fit what you are looking for:

It is very good and its not to much to buy on kindle.
I hope all your troubles get a bit better soon natasha, it sounds as if you've had a hell of a time.

Listening to the radio this morning I heard about this book, A Loo with a View. I kind of want to buy it for everyone for Christmas lol.
It's nice to see that the group is still active even in bits and peaces :)
Hello everyone, I missed you dearly all...Hope all is peachy with everyone...
Don't know if you noticed, but I've been quite absent for some time now...I had quite a pause in reading in general...no, I wasn't doing anything exiting nor fun nor smart, I was just kind of lying in bed and staring at the wall or sleeping. I guess I was depressed without even knowing I was and not even the books could help as I was overloaded with the text, audio books, no book was able to make itself interesting enough so I could read it :( - as said, total overload of info etc.
One of the reasons I guess was also that my brother came on holiday to see myself and my mother after a very very long time. The first time after 20 years he has seen his mother and I, his sister we haven't seen each other for 15 years.
Well, it was great to finally get to know my blood, you know, some family, not feeling always that I'm the only person in the world without any family at all...).
I don't count my mother because she's a bitch - pardon my French-it's a long story so don't even ask, I forgive her and I don't hate her anymore but she is a bitch and no amount of forgiving will negate that crude fact that she's a mean person.
It's great to realize I have a great brother and I'm sorry I missed out so much. Speaking of it, no wonder I was depressed. Interesting how I just realized it.
My father's death was relived again with my brother's arrival, he had to go through his death many kilometers away and through phone, he wasn't even able to come to the funeral. He loved him a lot, just like myself and it hit him the same way. Too bad our parents never taught us that family should stick together. I'd never ever separate a family for no matter what house or money or whatever. Are we reach? Yeah, right, my ass...Are we fucked up in our brains-totally, so yeah, no child should grow up without a family if he he/she has one.
Anyway, he's awesome and it's good to have spent quality time together finally. He'll come again maybe in May.
I missed you all guys and I missed GR and reading in general.
I really hope everyone here has no major issues and that the old problems are slowly going away.
I think I'm getting back on track and I'm totally loving the idea of it :) I have to update my books, I know I finished some reads even before this reading block, probably more than a month ago...oooops :P
Take care and I wish everyone a late happy NY and all the best to all of us in 2015.

Taking it easy today. Had three cortisone shots yesterday and the pain is much better today. Been reading.
Just got home from two doctors appointments. Feeling pretty good. Might read for a while.

We're getting ready to go to the library because I kinda lost track of the days and have quite a few books and movies overdue.
This weekend is a 4 day weekend so I think I'm going to take them to Silver Dollar City. We got season passes this yr. It's a 1880's theme park with some awesome coasters.
My youngest broke and dislocated his elbow a couple weeks ago and had to have surgery so him and I won't do the rides but they have amazing things for us to do too!
That sounds like an awesome plan. We moved from Kentucky to Wisconsin in November and I'm flying down to see my sister in Texas next month. I'm excited. An 1880's theme park sounds like a really neat place to visit.
Getting ready to go out with a friend for an hour or two. I need a break from doctor's appointments. I plan to finish Petals on the Wind today if possible. Having a good day so far but missing my grandson dearly.
Back home now and plan to start reading. It's so good to be back!

I am reading the Jodi Picoult books in order of publication and I am up to Second Glance.
So far I have found not to go by the online reviews. I have found almost every book quite intriguing and as I move on to the next one her subjects can be quite controversial.
I have only just started to get back into reading, so I make sure I read every night.
This one at the moment is to do with spirits/ghosts, and as you read on the story gets really interesting. Is also nice to see that there is a court case taking over the majority of the story.
Would love to hear what others are reading too.
I'm just now getting back into reading myself. Had lots of health issues and then a tragedy in August. I'm finding that I'm a lot slower than I used to be but I'm sure the speed will come with time.
Getting ready to go for physical therapy then I will need to do some housecleaning. My landlord just informed me that maintenance is putting in a new shower system in the morning between 8:30 and noon. I will get this book finished sometime today in-between the chaos. Only have 100 pages to go.
Ha! Told Jeff I was going to take a nap since they wore me out in physical therapy today and just now woke up. Six hours later. Ready to read.
Yea. I'll be up all night now and I have a doctors appointment at 9 in the morning. Oh well.
Check it out. My library doesn't have it so I'm going to order it paperback from Amazon. My library is really small. That's the only thing I miss about Kentucky other than my kids and grandkids. They had a great library in Louisville.
Reading and getting geared up for our group read this month. It is called Raptor Red and sounds quite interesting. Had to order from Amazon since the local library didn't have it. For now I'm trying to finish the last 100 pages of Petals on the Wind. Talk about a warped book!

I doubt that I'm going to read the rest of the series. It's just too weird for me and brings back bad memories from my childhood.
Almost 12 here and I got up really early this morning. Time for bed. I want to read more but my vision is blurry (literally). Nite folks.
Trying to finish this disturbing book. Don't know if I will read any more of the series.
Finished one book and now I'm reading on my Harry Potter book. Will be getting Raptor Red in the mail tomorrow.
Just got back from the doctors and want to read but I'm having a little trouble coming out of the sedation this time. Keep dozing. Maybe I'll cook dinner and lay down for 30 minutes afterwards. Really want to make a little progress today if possible.
No appointments today so I'm getting an earlier start on some reading. I like reading earlier in the day when I can because I'm not so tired and can get further.
Taking a break from everything and watching all the races leading up to the derby. Although I moved from the state, I was still born there and the derby is a part of my heritage. Plus, it is really fun to watch all the people in-between races.
Sitting here reading my book VERY slowly waiting for my reading buddies to get the book.
Getting really excited to see my sister. Flying down on Sun and coming back the 23rd. Poor Jeff will be left alone in the house. At least he has the dog to keep him company. Going to read for a bit and then watch some tv.
I must be nuts reading five books at once. I'm gone to doctors appointments a lot and I'm a slow reader. Might take me all year to finish these. LOL!
