You're welcome. You can tell by reading it that you had to have had a blast writing it!

Evans Light (evanslight) I might have gone a little crazy at a fantastic used bookstore I came across in North Charleston tonight. Guess my TBR list just got longer!

You got Swan Song!

message 57: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I feel a group read coming for Swan Song. I used to have the paperback (with the cover you posted on our page) but it is long lost. I did buy the kindle version and curious if it will have the same impact as it did when I was a teenager.

I think it would be an excellent idea to put this book on our poll for August?

message 59: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) Great idea Cindy!

message 60: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Swan Song would be awesome! Sounds like a great idea soon!

August sound OK to everyone? I've already posted the poll for our July reads and I don't think I can fit in another buddy read right now. Mandatory seven day a week overtime right now at work :(

Well, it held up for me, but it probably came down a star, if that makes any sense. I read it this past October, I think, after not reading it for nearly twenty years. I held that book in extremely high regard, though. I still think it's every bit as good as THE STAND.

We are already becoming a universal mind in this group.

Whoa! What a great haul! I wish I could have been there picking those shelves apart with you.

message 68: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson Nice haul there Evans! Impressive! I just read Swan Song end of last year so not quite ready to revisit. I look forward to the discussion though.

Don't worry, I left plenty on the shelves for you (or you can borrow some of these sometime!). The price was right: between $1.80-$3 per book! Got all of this for the price of two new hardbacks.

message 70: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Last day of vacation- ahh! Didn't get much reading done but spent some wonderful days with my older children at the Ozarks. First vacation with all the kids since they all moved out and it was so great!! One condo, all together just relaxing and hanging out. Definitely have to do this again.

message 71: by Janie (new)

Janie Johnson I am about to go for a day out with the family. Sadly no book store for me today. :/ I think I will survive, it is practically a weekly visit as it is.

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

I am depressed! Went to the only dang bookstore within 15 miles of my house looking for Swan Song, Under the Dome, and World War Z. No good on ANY of them. Oh well, that's what they make digital copies for. Guess I'll have to visit Amazon and give them more of my money. They should have made some serious profits off me by now. Sad part is - books aren't the only thing I buy from them.

I think Swan Song is almost better than The Stand. Am I only one to feel that way?

message 75: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments It is close, Dustin.

message 76: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Hey Cindy - bet you could find it used for cheap from an independent bookseller on Amazon or eBay

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes Evans, I just made a comment somewhere on the discussion board about how much money Amazon has made off me. Pitiful is all I can say. BUT fun!

message 78: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Me too! I'm becoming a certified book hoarder

message 79: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Adam wrote: "It is close, Dustin."

I like Swan Song a little more simply because it moves along at a much quicker pace (that middle section of The Stand can be a bit difficult and tedious,) plus Swan is really up there with my favorite fictional characters. She's awesome on so many levels!!

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

I am a bit old-fashioned and wouldn't have read a digital book if you gave it to me a couple of years ago. BUT it sure takes up less space AND my nasty cigarette smoke doesn't mess up the book.

message 81: by Dustin (new)

Dustin I'm a bit old-fashioned, as well, Cindy. So far, I've only read one e-book..

message 82: by [deleted user] (new)

Dustin wrote: "I'm a bit old-fashioned, as well, Cindy. So far, I've only read one e-book.."

Actually, I like them better in ways. Highlighting, notes, etc.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Was my short story your initiation into the ebook world, Dustin?

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

And don't forget about the online dictionary at your fingertips with an ebook. Or am I the only person left who likes to look up words unknown?

message 85: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC I haven't read a paper book in at least 10 years. It's was mainly PDFS back then. Now it's all mobi and epub for me.

message 86: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Cindy, that is one of my favorite things with my Kindle!

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks for the recommendation Dustin, I think I'll pick that up and give it a shot. I've also been looking at the limited edition of Screamscapes. I don't know if there are any left, but if so, I think I might buy one this weekend. Looks incredible!!

Cindy, have you ever checked out www.abebooks.com? I know there's a lot of online sites out there, but this is definitely one of the bigger ones. When we used to own our used bookstore, we also sold online through abebooks, and I still purchase through them today. It's a great resource.

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Rick! I will keep them in mind.

message 91: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Adam wrote: "Was my short story your initiation into the ebook world, Dustin?"

No, I read that one via Goodreads, when it was free.:)
My one e-book was actually The Pillars of the Earth. Thank you for asking.

Dustin Rick wrote: "Dustin wrote: "Adam wrote: "That is a tough one, Rick. I would say just about any off our stories. Maybe The Corpus Corruptum for a sampling of both of our short stories. Only 0.99, so it is a barg..."

You're welcome, Rick. I forgot to mention it before, but please be forewarned that some aspects of Adam's story can be a little graphic and hard to stomach.
I have a copy of Screamscapes, limited edition. I can't wait to get started! I hope you enjoy the Light brothers' work.

Nope, not the only one. I often look up unfamiliar words.:)

I am currently making an attempt at reading for an hour or so before I have to leave AGAIN. Never ending saga. However, my overtime this weekend was cancelled. Thank goodness. I may actually have time to catch up on some reading :).

Yay, for reading time!!:)

Have a wonderful weekend, Cindy! I hate to cut it short, but I have a birthday party to attend in a little bit and I truly must be going.

Happy reading, everyone!!

Evans Light (evanslight) My vacation officially ended this morning as we picked three worn out but happy boys from a week of outdoor adventure camp. Took them to see Monsters University this evening, excellent film if you like pixar, their best by far since Toy Story 3.

Evans Light (evanslight) Hope everybody is having a great weekend so far, hoping to finish up Nos4A2 this weekend, getting close.
