Cindy wrote: "Evans wrote: "My vacation officially ended this morning as we picked three worn out but happy boys from a week of outdoor adventure camp. Evans wrote: "Cindy wrote: "Evans wrote: "My vacation officially ended this morning as we picked three worn out but happy boys from a week of outdoor adventure camp. Took them to see Monsters University this eve..."I want to read World War Z, but I am a little concerned because it seems like I heard it's not a continuous story told in a linear fashion. I hope that's understandable.
Err! Don't like that. Hmmm, I was gonna read it, BUT...
interesting open letter from Stephen King about the UNDER THE DOME series: http://www.stephenking.com/promo/utd_...
Chuck wrote: "Evans wrote: "Cindy wrote: "Evans wrote: "My vacation officially ended this morning as we picked three worn out but happy boys from a week of outdoor adventure camp. Took them to see Monsters Unive..."I heard it was presented in a journal-type format. It's been recommended by quite a few people I know who have read it. Might take a chance on it and see if it surprises. pleasantly.
Never know until you read it and see :)
Evans wrote: "interesting open letter from Stephen King about the UNDER THE DOME series: http://www.stephenking.com/promo/utd_..."Thanks for that link...loved the analogy about fraternal twins... I think I will hold that in my head next time I feel inclined to say it was different in the book!
I'm thinking about trying to squeeze in one more book this month for a total of 17: I never did read THE FAULT IN OUR STARS.Next month is probably going to be all Ulysses, Infinite Jest, and Harry Potter.
So you're still sticking with Infinite Jest huh? Good for you Chuck.
Cindy wrote: "So you're still sticking with Infinite Jest huh? Good for you Chuck."Oh yeah, I'm not even about to throw in the towel. My OCD won't let me anyway, lol.
I may even throw in Gravity's Rainbow. Because Ulysses and Infinite Jest at the same time isn't challenging enough. NOT! lol, I did read enough of it yesterday though to pique my interest.
It is almost midnight and I'm gonna watch an episode of Star Trek with my honey and go to bed. Goodnight everyone.
Chuck wrote: "Evans wrote: "Cindy wrote: "Evans wrote: "My vacation officially ended this morning as we picked three worn out but happy boys from a week of outdoor adventure camp. I'm editing a new short story/novella (not sure how much will end up cut, but it's 11,500 words at the moment) right now. Taking a break to grill some turkey burgers and chicken. Nothing like grilled animal flesh to satiate the family.
Love that last comment Adam. LOL
So my dang blasted Notebook finally just quit. It's been giving me a message for about a month now that my battery needs replaced. I just don't understand why it refuses to work off the power cord. Anyway, I ordered a battery off Amazon for $38 including the shipping. Batteries Plus wanted $144. In the meantime I'm stuck using the GR's app on my iPad which I don't like and it slows me down. Should only be a few days :-)
I am currently at the local library. Hate to do this to my Jeff, but he just won't let me read in peace at home. I might be nice when I go home and take him something to eat that he really likes. Hope everyone is enjoying their day.
Getting off work and going to untie my boat and row myself home. Torrential flooding in my area today. Hope everyone is well.

Oh wow, hope everyone is OK.

It's 8.00am, breakfast is over , first load of washing is on and I am deciding on whether to brave the cold (well cold to us North Queenslanders... to the rest of the world possibly not) and garden or snuggle back under the doona and read with a coffee.... send some of your rain this way Adam and take the decision out of my hands.
Sharon wrote: "It's 8.00am, breakfast is over , first load of washing is on and I am deciding on whether to brave the cold (well cold to us North Queenslanders... to the rest of the world possibly not) and garden..."Just wondering...what is a doona?
Found out that there is actually a pretty neat used bookstore less than a mile from my house, not sure how that got past me for so long. Not as amazing as the one in Charleston, but I did snag a good find: High Cotton: Selected Stories
by Joe R. Lansdale for just a few greenbacks! Also picked up
A Choir of Ill Children by Tom Piccirilli and Icarus Descending
by Elizabeth Hand for just a couple dollars each.
Cindy wrote: "So my dang blasted Notebook finally just quit. It's been giving me a message for about a month now that my battery needs replaced. I just don't understand why it refuses to work off the power cord...."Bummer. I've been using mine without a battery for at least two years!

Chuck, I took the battery out of it for a day when it gave out and then I was desperate tonight to retrieve a Word doc, so I put the battery back in. It worked long enough to get my doc. Battery should arrive Friday.

Evans wrote: "Chuck wrote: "Evans wrote: "Cindy wrote: "Evans wrote: "My vacation officially ended this morning as we picked three worn out but happy boys from a week of outdoor adventure camp. I hope that helps.:)
Evans wrote: "interesting open letter from Stephen King about the UNDER THE DOME series: http://www.stephenking.com/promo/utd_..."Very nice, I love it! Thankee for sharing, Evans!
It is 12:21 PM, and I'm in the process of catching up with the goings-on of the group. Cindy, I feel bad for neglecting my duties as co-moderator, and I sincerely apologize.
Evans wrote: "Sharon wrote: "It's 8.00am, breakfast is over , first load of washing is on and I am deciding on whether to brave the cold (well cold to us North Queenslanders... to the rest of the world possibly ..."Sorry Evans, forgot that is an Australian term, a doona is called a duvet in England, not sure what it's called in America, it's a feather quilt that has a cover that you can change much like a pillow case. I only get to use them for about a month of the year here, but they are incredibly luxurious to snuggle under the:-)

Don't feel bad Dustin. Lots of active members in the group to help keep us on our toes. Just help when you can. It will be greatly appreciated.

I am catching up on posts in the group, updating my book statuses, and going to bed. Long day.

Aww, thank you so much! That is a load off my back, believe me! I'll certainly be here whenever I can.:)
I am going to take a break tonight and spend some time with Jeff. Will check in with the group tomorrow sometime. Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!
Congrats Adam! I bet the sense of relief feels good about now. Did the wife beat you at pool?
I am actually taking a day to clean my house and stay home. It has been a while since I've spent a whole day at home. I also plan to finish The Hobbit and The Next Time You See Me today. I hate to say this, but I'm sure some of you will relate - I am excited at the prospect of being home and getting some things done.

Goodnight everyone. Have to get up for work in 5 1/2 hours.
Have a wonderful day, everyone! I hope you all had a great 4th of July.:) As for me, I plan on playing a little catch up with my reading and helping Tanya out as much as I can around here.
Just got home from work and ready to relax for the weekend. Going to start getting my ducks in a row for the publication of my short story collection "Toes Up," which will include all of my previously released stories and one new one.

I'm eager to get everything together and publish in print.
2:11 p.m. and I am getting ready to go and wash clothes. I HATE going to the laundry, but I have to be at work in less than five hours, so I'd better get to it. Taking The Next Time You See Me with me in the hopes that I can finish it before work.
Adam wrote: "Just got home from work and ready to relax for the weekend. I'm incredibly happy for you, man!! I'm very much looking forward to reading more of your work!
5:30 p.m. and I need to take a shower and get ready for work. Didn't work on the 4th, so this is my "make-up" day. Hope everyone has a great evening! I will check on here before I go to bed but it will be really late.

It's a collection I'm unfamiliar with, but definitely some good names on the cover.
