I know what you mean. so many places want the application filled out online now, I have to hit my best friend up for her computer.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Prying myself away from the computer for the night. Writing session was fruitful but I have reached the gates of delirium and walking through them now.
I hope everyone has a great night.

Addy | 379 comments @joycedale-good to know I'm not the only one who's computerless..lol. Don't know what I'd do without my phone though.

message 1804: by [deleted user] (new)

I got a job!!! Not the one I was waiting on, but one that pays a dollar more on the hour. It is about five miles further from my house, but I would crawl to it if need be. Start tomorrow. Still keeping those without a job in my thoughts and prayers because I know from experience what it's like wondering from one minute till the next if you're gonna be homeless next week.

message 1805: by Kate (new)

Kate Congratulations, Cindy. Well done. :)

Addy | 379 comments Thanks Cindy! I appreciate it. Its easy to get down on myself, waiting for phone calls and making them. Just gotta pray and stay positive.

message 1812: by [deleted user] (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments Congrats Cindy!

Well, that's a start anyway. I'll have to drive about 20 miles one-way myself and I'm not exactly thrilled with that, but a job is a job. Especially now. Good luck on your continued search!

message 1815: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments All your jobs are so far away!! Jayne only has to go four miles and we think that far, I'll tell her tomorrow that we're wrong, lol. I'm only two minutes from the tram that goes every where as well. Very lucky there as I don't need the expence of running a car. Can buy more books that way:)

message 1816: by [deleted user] (new)

Signing off and attempting to get a good nights sleep. Have to get up early and I'm loving it!

That was my biggest problem with Justin taking this other one. The one he has now is actually on the road we live on, its 1 mile round trip, the new one is close to 80 round trip. But in the long run he'll end up making a lot more but its going to make money tight for awhile.

message 1818: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Hi all! Not much super exciting going on with me at the moment, just super busy - but I wanted to drop on and say hi. Glad to hear Cindy found a job, best of luck to everyone else on the hunt. 'bought to read a little Laymon before bedtime.

message 1819: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Volunteered at the school this morning.
My son's Kindergarten class had the 100 days of school activities.
It was fun, even if it was day 99. LOL (They canceled school for a winter storm yesterday. (And today it's in 38 degrees F) Most is melted now.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Secured an extended leave from work, best news I've had in months. Also getting prepared to travel to Charlotte where my brother and I will be selling our books at the Mad Monster Party. This will be my first horror convention. I'm looking forward to all of it except the flying part. I have a horrible fear of flying.

Good to see that you didn't have to 'voluntarily' resign. And best of luck at the con. I hope you guys sell all of your stock.

Good luck to you and Evans selling lots of books!! And I'm so pleased you got your leave from work sorted as well:) I can't believe they tried to give you the sack.

I used to volunteer at my sons school when he was small Mama and I loved every minute of it. The school trips were the best though.

message 1827: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've not had tacos for years Addy but I think I might get the family round and do them as well. But tomorrow because its 12.30 am here. Hope everyone enjoyed them. I feel like I'm stalled a bit on my reading so I've got to get back on track.

I am so glad to hear about the extended leave of absence Adam. It would be totally wrong of them to let you go.

message 1829: by [deleted user] (new)

Totally exhausted, but believe me, I'm not complaining. Left this morning at 7:00 a.m. after getting absolutely no sleep last night. Had to pay my car insurance after work or they were going to cancel. Thank God for people who have been helping us. No car - no job. I'm not on a bus route unless I walk 2 1/2 miles up to the shopping center. Then the buses start running too late for me to be at work on time. Got lucky at the job. Three of us started and they told us right away that someone would be going to production, one to shipping, and one to quality control. It would have been really rough had I been sent to shipping. I got quality control where I get to sit all day. Back still hurts some, but not that bad. Only thing that was scary as hell - a cell phone battery blew up at a girl's station that was three feet away from me. A hazard of the job, but that stuff is pretty toxic.

message 1830: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've got to get an early night tonight. I ended up staying on till gone 3am last night so I'm going now. Hope you had a good first day back at work though Cindy:)

I'm too exhausted to hang tonight folks. Sorry, but I would be willing to bet that I sleep tonight. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

message 1832: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Sleep deprivation must be going around. I settled onto the couch after dinner for a second and woke up a couple of hours later. Haven't had that happen for a while. Talk about time warp.

You better start sipping some Scotch to get ready for bed.

I've not had one of those. Enjoy!

message 1836: by Evans (new)

Evans Light (evanslight) Thanks. It's a pretty good beer, don't get it often because I prefer pale ale and IPAs and Affligem is sweeter, hints of pear and apricot. Very refreshing though, and not too heavy. Worth a try.

message 1837: by Angie (new)
