What books to read as a family

We're going on a road trip too!! Some things that we've enjoyed are: The Sisters Grimm series, Holes, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and the other Fudge books, The Indian in the Cupboard, and The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking. We're going to try The Candy Shop War and The Lightning Thief on this trip.
The Book of Three
The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles
Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo
Gregor the Overlander
A Crooked Kind of Perfect
The Secret of the Old Clock
Books I haven't read, but heard were good:
Tuesdays at the Castle
Midnight for Charlie Bone
The False Prince
I don't have kids that age, so I'm not sure if these would work or not. If you have girls, I loved Nancy Drew at that age. Boys might like the Hardy Boys series.

I appreciate all the help! I just don't want to pick something up and then get partway through to find out one or all of us find it boring. So thought I would check with some fellow clean readers first.
Thanks!
I read Slayers and really loved it!! You can check out
my review. I do remember there was some romance, but nothing bad. I cannot wait for the next one!!

I also read Slayers and loved it. If you didn't know, CJ Hill is actually Janette Rallison. Her books are all clean.

Gregor is great, and I have read the False Prince. It was clean, and an interesting adventure story.

Any recommendations?
