Tiffany | 19 comments Alright I need some help! Our family is going on a road trip and what better thing to help spend some of the time than to read in the car. We have already had members of our family read Harry Potter, Fablehaven and Beyonders. I would like a fun book that would entertain both adults and children around 10 and 12 years old.

Any recommendations?

We're going on a road trip too!! Some things that we've enjoyed are: The Sisters Grimm series, Holes, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and the other Fudge books, The Indian in the Cupboard, and The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking. We're going to try The Candy Shop War and The Lightning Thief on this trip.

The Book of Three
The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles
Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo
Gregor the Overlander
A Crooked Kind of Perfect
The Secret of the Old Clock

Books I haven't read, but heard were good:
Tuesdays at the Castle
Midnight for Charlie Bone
The False Prince

I don't have kids that age, so I'm not sure if these would work or not. If you have girls, I loved Nancy Drew at that age. Boys might like the Hardy Boys series.

Tiffany | 19 comments Have either of you read Slayers by Janette Rallison a.k.a. C.J. Hill? I am interested in reading this for myself but didn't know. They are both into fantasy type books and my 12 year old has read everything by Rick Riordan and my 10 year old loves the Nicholas Flamel series. I will look into your recommendations. Some of the recommendations we have read. I have heard the Sisters Grimm series was really good as well.

I appreciate all the help! I just don't want to pick something up and then get partway through to find out one or all of us find it boring. So thought I would check with some fellow clean readers first.

Thanks!

I read Slayers and really loved it!! You can check out
my review. I do remember there was some romance, but nothing bad. I cannot wait for the next one!!

I also read Slayers and loved it. If you didn't know, CJ Hill is actually Janette Rallison. Her books are all clean.

Jessie | 202 comments I recommend Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. It's in the same genre as Harry Potter, clean, and very well done! I think it's one the whole family can enjoy! Keeper of the Lost Cities

Gregor is great, and I have read the False Prince. It was clean, and an interesting adventure story.

Jessie | 202 comments Oh! Another classic is Dealing with Dragons by Patricia Wrede. I know there's a princess on the cover, but it's still more of a funny book, and a fantasy book then a princess story. I read it with my husband a few years ago and he enjoyed it.
