I'm only at the very beginning, and I'm not quite sure, but I am strangely fascinated... It's sort of weird, but probably in a good way.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne Just had to look him up on Wiki etc after your interesting post. Gosh, what a great pity he had not been published earlier.

I absolutely love the picture the author paints with his description of places. I absolutely love Sabriel's house on an island in a river. It sounds like heaven.

It is one of my favourites out of his many and varied books. But I recall it as having some rather icky characters in it:)

message 15136: by Liza (new)

Liza Perrat (httpwwwgoodreadscomlizaperrat) On the weekend, I finished Julian Barnes' The Sense of an Ending and I'm STILL thinking about it days later, and still not sure of my interpretation of the ending. Truly a thought-provoking work of art. Anyone else read it? I've now just started Maggie O'Farrell's Instructions for a Heatwave and loving it already. She is one of my fave authors!

message 15137: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) I've started The Taming of the Queen by Philippa Gregory; already Kateryn's opinions/observations of Henry VIII's weight/body/teeth/ulcer etc are so steeped in reality, reading them is enough to make me feel queasy.

I wonder if a woman/girl ever had the guts to refuse a king's offer of marriage.

message 15138: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Liza I've read all O'Farrell's books but I don't think 'Heatwave...' was my favourite. Probably The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox.

message 15142: by Danny (new)

Danny (cayal) I just finished The Martian (haven't seen the movie yet) but loved the book. The humour in it was great.

I am also in the middle of reading the Marvel Civil War arc and just started reading the Star Wars: Thrawn Trilogy that I have heard is wonderful.
I figure I would read it before the new movie comes out and all the EU books are officially useless.

Is this correct for these two?
Civil War: The Amazing Spider-Man
Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy

You didn't mention the authors and there are several for the first one:)

Katherine Parr tried several times apparently but was unsuccessful. Henry couldn't believe she would sincerely not want to marry him and thought she would make him comfortable, so didn't go see why he should go without. This is apparently why her strategy of saying she was not good enough didn't work. Although he essentially agreed (because, really, who was?), he didn't care and thought he was doing her an enormous favour
