Upstate New York in 1790's with Elizabeth Middleton, Nathaniel Bonner and their assorted Anglo and Indian co-characters. There's even a nod to Diana Gabaldon as a couple of Outlander characters make guest appearances.
I've been reading Robert Drewe lately. His essays are better than his fiction.

It's Australian, with a start in Ireland, and I liked the story.
Also Motherhood & Creativity: The Divided HeartMotherhood & Creativity - by Rachel Power. Real, inside stories on well-known and lesser-known creative artists, actors, writers. Australian.

Sounds good! Middlesex is on my iPad. I read The Virgin Suicides earlier this year and enjoyed it very much — if anyone can enjoy such a dark topic.
I've just started The Art of Fiction. I've been delving into lit-crit and author biographies lately, and thought this book might be a good addition. I'm enjoying it so far, as David Lodge has a light touch.

Haha! Yes that's true. I have it down for a challenge, so will get to it soon:) I loved his previous one!

Sounds good Marianne. Hachette won't let me have books to review on NG so I'll have to wait for it to come out :(
