I'm reading Pearls by Colin Falconer. It takes place in Broome with the pearl divers. Got to love anything that involves pearls!

I bought Dodger today at QBD for $9.99. It looks excellent but I have to read some other books first for April challenges. I have read nearly all Terry Pratchett's other books!

I've only read a couple of Pratchetts. I'm looking forward to Dodger and one of these days I will get into the Discworld series properly.

I still remember the day I read The Color of Magic Discworld#1. It was so entertaining and very clever. I couldn't stop after that and went on to read the whole series. So sad that Terry Pratchett is now not well.

I love Terry Pratchett's books! They're some of my frequent read books, and as soon as I start reading one, I'm just swept away in the story.
I started Room last night and sadly, so far, I really don't like it. I am finding the way it is told, in an artificial child's voice, to be very irritating. I will plough on though and hope it grows on me.

I will be interested to hear your final thoughts on it Phrynne.

No this one is not for me. I will finish it because I want to know what happens but I wish I hadn't started it. It is unique - just not my thing :)

I thought it was brilliant too, especially the escape scene!

Then I am too Phrynne as I started it but found the voice annoying in the extreme and couldn't be bothered finishing it.

That was probably my main issue with it too. I always dislike authors trying to talk like young children. It never works for me!

I just finished Revenge of the Tide by Elizabeth Haynes

Where did you get your copy of Sydney Bridge Upside Down Donna? We had a thread going about it awhile ago http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9... and I was trying to find a copy...I didn't!

I started Tomorrow, When The War Began by John Marsden last night. So far I am thoroughly enjoying, which surprises me because generally I mostly read horror/suspense or true crime books.
I really enjoyed Tomorrow, When the War Began. When I first read it, I actually found it quite disturbing - mainly because it's set in Australia, I think. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts Kyla.
I loved the first few books of the Tomorrow series but I gradually became bored with them and did not finish the whole series. I loved the movie of the first book.
I am currently reading A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty. At first I wondered what everyone saw in it but I am now about two thirds of the way through and reaching for the tissue box!
Well I finished Tomorrow, When The War Began and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a book my husband owns but unfortunately he doesn't own any others in the series. As a result I'll be taking a trip to either the book store &/or library tomorrow to get the next installment :)
I have just started reading Boys of Blood & Bone by David Metzenthen. It's a book I bought a few years back for the kids because they had to read it for school. To be perfectly honest I don't think any of them (3 teenage children) actually read the book. I hate a book to sit on the bookshelf unread, so have taken it upon myself to do what my children didn't :)

It's freezing out my way today, and wet and dreary... so perfect book reading weather really.I'm currently reading two books at once - Beneath Outback Skies on my Kindle and The Farmers Wife in paperback - I couldn't decided which to focus on so I keep switching between the two.

I hope you're enjoying both Jess!!! I can't do that, especially with books that are similar. Different, yes, but like those you're reading...no.

I have just about finished reading 'The Ghost at the Wedding' by Shirley Walker it is a true story that chronicles the lives of three generations of men and women through two world wars. Winner of the 2009 Asher Literary Award. Written with the emotional power of a novel it is a very compelling read.

Thank you for adding the link I could not figure out how to do that. I have now just finished the last chapter and highly recommend this book as a gripping testament to the human spirit and the devastation wars have on generations of family. Shirley Walker writes this (memoir) with such heartfelt emotion a wonderful Australian author.

Brenda - is that the book discussion started by Mark? It was seeing that disc that prompted me to try again. I found my copy at a fund raiser, republished in 2010 by www.textpublishing.com.au and the original price tag on it was $21.95.
