Am now reading A Red Herring Without Mustard. And have just realised I've read the fourth before the third. Nevermind. Am enjoying this one much better anyway! :D

★ Jess | 3071 comments Finished The Walking Dead, Vol. 17: Something to Fear. Oh man, that has to include one of the most brutal scenes I've ever read.

Im going to wait a week or two until the holidays and then read a novel.
It will be awesome :')

Really sorry but the movie may have been a gem - the book isn't. It starts out funny and witty but it is far far too long and the point becomes really laboured and in the end tedious. I think this may be one of those rare instances where the film is better than the book!

Beloved Friend The Story of Tchaikowsky and Nadejda Von Meck by Catherine Drinker Bowen

Tchaikowsky was a legendary Russian musician, and his letters to Nadejda have been a precious record in history, when Russia was in the middle of its revolution.

Natty (booknerdnatty) | 333 comments Finished reading Walking DisasterbyJamie McGuire which i loved its like a guilty pleasure and also finished reading The Almond Tree by Michelle Cohen Corasanti which I absolutely loved, it was confronting and thought provoking as a fiction piece, reviews to come for both.
Just starting to read Character of Leadership: What Works for Australian Leaders Making It Work for You and The Mixed Girl Memoirs: When the Sun Runs Black.

Kassassinn My sister just bought the entire collection of Nicholas Sparks and has been reading them in the order they are released. Every time she finishes one, she forces me to read it too so she can talk to me about it. I've just started Message In A Bottle and so far so good.

The Neighbor. The storyline is very similar but to me the telling is far superior. But I am a Lisa Gardner fan so I am biased!

You are sooo right Phrynne! Thanks for reminding me of that book, I loved it! I hadn't compared the two until now, but the likeness is there, the writing is so different...Flynn's is amateurish in comparison!

message 5023: by Michele (new)

Michele Thanks Phrynne - it would appear that I have read it - but I don't remember it! Which I must say is not unusual for me and can be a bonus at times when I decide to re-read a book I don't remember what happens :) I must have enjoyed it though as I gave it 4 stars. I will give it a re-read to compare.

message 5024: by Donna R (new)

Donna R (goodreadscomuser_ainsco) Hi everyone, Just now I'm reading 'Passarola Rising' by Azhar Abidi (aussie) for me, and 'Lolita' for my club. The edition of PR I'm reading is not listed to select - I've created one and would love some advice on how to upload its cover (the cover art attracted me to the book!) Cheers all

Donna R (goodreadscomuser_ainsco) Michele wrote: "I just finished Blindness by José Saramago and am now about to start Dominion by C.J. Sansom."

What did you think of it Michelle? Had I seen the movie first I don't think I'd have read the book. Some time later I read the companion 'Seeing', if you were interested in how things pan out then I'd recommend it, even though like 'Blindness' it doesn't pull any punches

message 5026: by Michele (new)

Michele Hi Donna, I enjoyed most of it, I thought the concept was interesting, I haven't seen the movie so can't compare. I struggled a little with his writing style - very little punctuation, at times it was difficult to follow who was talking, but I would recommend it.
