message 416: by SamSpayedPI (new)

SamSpayedPI | 2306 comments OK, there's something that's driving me crazy but I didn't want to start an entire new thread because of it.

You know how when you get to the group page, each discussion with any new posts since your last visit will have a red parenthetical that shows the number of new posts?

Well, when Bargle bumps a post, often it does not show up in red for me. It still moves to the top of the thread, but I don't get the red indication of a new post.

Why should that be? The only other person who doesn't show up in red is me. I understand that (since I was visiting the thread when I made the comment, it's technically never "new") but why shouldn't Bargle's show up? And if it's something he can do himself to maybe "hide" his posts, I would expect more people to be doing it. But it's just him (or, I guess, her; I'm not sure why I assume Bargle is male).

After thread is bumped, he (because their avatar is mustached, I assume male, too) deletes the bump comment, I think, to keep it neat - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

SamSpayedPI | 2306 comments No, the comment is still there (example); it's just not indicated as a new comment.

message 419: by Ayshe (new)

Ayshe | 4721 comments Hmm, I have noticed his threads being bumped with no new message indicator, but I haven't given it much thought. I guess it's a bug - because he deletes the old bump and posts new one, the system doesn't display the last one as new - as the number of posts is the same as before?

Perhaps. But in my example in message 423, there shouldn't have been a prior bump, since the last post was exactly a month ago.

There should have been older one, look at message #50:

When this showed up in my comments feed I just had to come look at it lol

and there's no "Glued eyes and orifices bump." before her comment now.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Please note:
It may take moderators a few days to work through the queues and move threads to appropriate folders. So no need to post right away. Thanks for your patience. And thanks for finding those solved requests we missed ages ago.

This isn't a new problem. It happens to me sometimes as well. No one particular poster, just random it seems. Another member had problems with it also. Started 2-3 years ago for me.

Yes, I am male. My avatar is my incredibly life-like self portrait I drew back in my late 20s.

I've read the whole series. Main character has a wife in the other book and there's no son character.
