The Title Game - Part Deux
The Other Woman: Feminism and Femininity in the Work of Marguerite Duras by Trista Selous(This was a tough one to get through--Marguerite Duras was a french author probably best known for "The Lover" which she claimed was an autobiography/memoir (I challenge that). She is credited with adding to the second wave of feminism.)
Anguished English: An Anthology of Accidental Assaults Upon Our Language by Richard Lederer(This is a great collection of lingistic oddities. It spawned a bunch of other books that further explored the humor of the English Language.)
I'm glad we were able to ignore the spam post and keep playing! SMDHThe Glass Kitchen: A Novel of Sisters by Linda Francis Lee
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen(I've had this book on my bookshelves for a couple of years now, but it's still a tbr. I've always enjoyed books by Sarah Addison Allen. For anyone doing the summer reading challenge, her books are great beach reads.)
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro(I gave this one 2 out of 5 stars. As dystopian tales go, I found it predictable.)
Why Me? by Donald E. WestlakeThis is a fun series! Dortmunder & his crew are the poster children for Murphy's law.
Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore(Love Dortmuder! Christopher Moore also writes with a wonderful comic irreverance.)
The Passion of the Purple Plumeria by Lauren WilligI love this series so much. It's kind of a cross between A.S. Byatt's Possession and the Scarlet Pimpernel.
Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie(If you haven't read Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie yet, check her out. She's a Nigerian author who writes not only about postcolonial Nigeria, but also about the experiences of an international student in America.)
Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi AdichieI agree with Connie, I listened to Americanah and liked it very much. In addition to the quality of the story and storytelling, the audio narration had added value for me with the various accents of different characters.
The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie(Short Stories are great when you really don't want to invest time for a whole novel. This collection has a couple of really interesting stories.)
Ok, y'all piqued my curiosity and I've added some of Adichie's books to my TBR list.Back to the game... Another TBR, and it looks like it'll be a hoot if I ever get time to read it!
