Brief Review:
This was a fun book from the perspective of the hero, which is something you don't see in a lot of contemporary romances on the market. Granted, the author was female, but it was fun to see a first person hero perspective.
I have to say that in real life, if the hero did the things he did in this book, I would definitely have called the police and got a restraining order. But, in Romancelandia, it's fun. ;)
It had humor, and it was fun. I will read more by the author in the future.

I really enjoyed it. Once I started it, I just couldn't put it down. :)

Review: Rory is the good girl, the smart girl. She tends to keep to herself, and sits back and thinks over everything logically. She's the girl that well boys don't really take notice too. So when she tells her roommates that she is still a virgin they decide to take matters into their own hands.
Tyler is the metal shirt wearing, tattooed "bad boy" who they think will fill that role, as Rory's confidence builder by helping her lose V card.
Except there is more to Tyler then people see, he's smart with so much on his plate. It's easier to let others think of him as just a good time, rather then have them get a peek at what life really is like for him.
Until Rory.
Studying together they both discover things about the other that no one else sees, or even bothers to look for.
I really enjoyed this book. When I got to the end, I had to do a double take and thought "What, that's it? Over?? But but my kindle say's there is still 11 minutes left in the book!!!!"
Really looking forward to reading the next book.

I LOVE this series and I love Nalini Singh in general. She is one of my top five authors hands down. In this addition to the series, we have Judd Lauren and Brenna Shane Kincaid.
Judd is a male Psy so this is the first time that we get the perspective of breaking silence from that POV and Brenna is the wolf changeling who (view spoiler) .
This story was lovely. Nalini Singh's world of Psy and Changelings is ever expanding and I think growing in depth especially with the addition of (view spoiler) .
The GOOD:
Judd and Brenna together are a powerful couple. She is absolutely a strong heroine especially after enduring what she did. Judd is NOT your cuddly hero that coddles her through crisis after crisis. He is blunt, to the point, and no nonsense. And sounds sexy as hell!
Like I mentioned Nalini Singh has created an engrossing, ever expanding world that makes you want to pick up the next book in the series IMMEDIATELY!
The Bad:
This didn't bother me but I could see other not liking the amount of side characters that have speaking roles in this book. They all added to the story but I know some readers find too many characters and perspectives distracting. I can vouch that is not the case in this book and whenever a character speaks up, I want to know more about them and I look ahead to see if they have their own book.
The UGLY: Nothing ugly for me.
Am DEFINITELY reading the next book in the series.

I really really enjoyed reading this. It was so easy to get lost in the writing and story telling. I literally just sat down and read the entire book in 3 hours.
The first thing that baffles and amazes me. There is a love triangle that goes on through all three books and I don't recall rolling my eyes at any point. I was definitely Team Tucker coming in, but I equally liked both guys and Christian earned major brownie points in this book. He was kind of a selfless, understanding, sword-wielding stud. I am not normally a romance reader so for a series to have such a strong focus on the romance and for me to truly enjoy reading about it is a big accomplishment.
There wasn't just romance though. There was a lot going on in the fight of good vs. bad and one or two reveals that caught me off guard. If I had a complaint, it would be that the side characters did not get enough page time. It would have been nice to spend more time with Angela and Jeffrey. They both went through a lot in this book and readers didn't get to see too much of it. I would happily read on if a spin-off happens in the future.
All in all, Cynthia Hand has gained a fan and I look forward to reading more from her.

I liked this book but there were definite tones of Twilightness about it.
New girl in town, meets loner siblings, super attractive boy who is openly hostile towards her, overly friendly sister.
BUT... still, aliens and fights and even with all the action it was a bit light in tone. I liked it enough to where I'll read the next in the series.

Book: River Marked
Completed: 6/30
Rating: 4/5
Review:
Another solid addition to one of the strongest series I've had the pleasure to discover and read. I can definitely say that Mercy books are NOT predictable. They are not formulaic and NOT cutesy. The only thing to be expected in Mercy novels are: a kickass female heroine and knowledge. I swear I end up wikitrolling for hours based on what Patricia Briggs describes in her stories. For instance, I just had to look up the basalt cliffs of the Columbia River as well as the native pictograms that she describes in the story.
I'm not sure why some reviewers said this was a boring book or a weak installment. They must have been smoking from the peace pipe! I LOVED the native american focus that was presented in this book. Mercy's background was still pretty mysterious up until this book. It was so wonderful to read something that focused on a mythology that is not explored overmuch in PNR and UF.
The GOOD:
- Mercy and Adam - enough said!
- The story moves along well and I did not want to put the book down.
- Native American mythology, focus on finding out about Mercy's birth
- The underlying problem that was being solved was pretty intense. (view spoiler) .
The BAD:
- Mercy's father's story is a little convoluted. I took me a moment to think through what Briggs presented and understand what she was saying. Do I understand completely right this moment... I might. Could I explain it to you? Absolutely not. Not without making your and my head explode.
The UGLY - nothing ugly for me. This book was just wonderful. I can't wait to Frost Burned.

BTW, read

But I hope you like it better than I did. At least it's finished series but I decided not to pursue continuing to read. Too many others to take care of!

I'm 1/3 through my Angels & Demons book. It's literary junk food. Fun but without a lot of nutritional value. lol

Book: Demon Hunting in Dixie
Date Read: 07/02/2013
Rating: 4*

I totally enjoyed this book. It definitely fell into the insta-love category though so if that bugs you, avoid this one.
It was a humorous PnR full of southern stereotypes (just because it’s a stereotype, doesn’t mean it isn’t accurate). Everything involving Dwight Farris’ funeral, and his loved ones, made me chuckle inappropriately.
Hannah ALA is quite the supernatural hot spot and two immortal warriors have come to town to investigate, and defeat the EVIL. (Muah ha ha) I loved Adara, her family and friends (and most of the town, for that matter) Even her animal companions were likable.
I’m definitely gonna read the next one because I really liked Evie and Blondy needs to get his ass in gear, suck it up and get back in the game.

I can't help comparing this book to Mead's Georgina Kincaid series and to be honest, this one doesn't draw me in the way the other series did. It was an enjoyable read, but I don't have much to say beyond that. This was a decent start to a series but I'm not rushing out to see what happens next.

Review:
Sooooooo much better than the last book. No random ramblings. No everyday activities. We have Georgina getting ever closer to finding out what the problem with her contract is. We also get to experience her eye roll inducing romantic adventures. She is still going back and forth with Seth, still feeling guilty about sleeping around, and still depressed as hell. BUT this story is so FULL that I don't mind dealing with how annoying Georgina can be at times. I can't wait to read the last and final book and see how it all comes together.
It has been a long roller coaster ride for me as well with Richelle Mead and this series. Book 1 was good. Book 2 was meh. Book 3 was the best. Book four was meh. Book five was decent. And now I'm ready to read book 6 and see if my theory about how it comes together is correct.

I loved both Dark Swan and Georgina Kincaid :)

Danielle, the last book ends pretty well. As always, lots going on. Hope you enjoy it!

I really enjoyed reading this one. I thought the author had an interesting and fresh twist on the concept of the grim-reaper, and it had a surprising twist at the end ;)
I liked the humor and definitely plan to continue the series :)

Review: This book started out really interesting, but then as it went on I found myself becoming a little bored. A lot of potential but just never wow'd me overall.
