Review: Aww.... I love Kate and Vincent. They're too cute together. Didn't see the ending coming, and darn that cliffhanger. I'm reading the last book for the Cover Love shelf.

I'm finally caught up with my books for this challenge so I'm not completely sure what to read now. I might start Les Miz, though that's a huge commitment.

I found this much better than Legend, simply because the characters were more defined. In Legend I was never quite sure how June and Day were different but in this one they each had their own unique voices. They were also much less shallow. It was just as dramatic and action packed as Legend but I was much more immersed in it this time because I actually cared about what happened to the characters. (view spoiler) I still don't think this is one of the best dystopian series out there but from the improvement of this one I can expect Champion to be really good.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I can only imagine that a lot of the unanswered aspects of this book will be answered in the books to follow.
Who is Monique’s contact?
What’s up with the friendship between Sidheag and Agatha? Are they going to play a bigger part in the next adventure?
Why does Mr. Braithwope say “Whot?” all the time?
Is Soap Sophronia’s new beau? If so, what about that one Piston that flipped his hair at her?
Why does Captain Niall sound familiar? Oh wait, I know why. If you read Changeless, then you know who he is. This could mean that he might play a bigger role in the rest of the books.
Anyway, I liked this even though it took a little while for my brain to catch up.

I looked at our bingo card and we are setting up nicely for a Bingo in two directions!!
Molto buono!
I'm going to read

Happy reading!

I went to college in Vegas, so I can sympathize about the heat.

What a funny book! The quotes at the start of each chapter were so funny! What do you do when your marriage is slowly going down the drain, you're currently seeing a marriage counselor, and then one day said marriage counselor tries to eat you? I guess you do what Sarah and David do, you become the zombie butt kicking couple! I thoroughly enjoyed this and I highly recommend it for anyone who's in the mood for a light, quick, and entertaining read. Don't let the zombies turn you off either, it's definitely more about Sarah and David then it is zombies. I will be picking up the next one real soon!

Book: Moonglow by Kristen Callihan

Review:
A solid sequel with a good balance of mystery and romance that is thankfully not a carbon coy of the first book.
The romance starts out slow with Ian and Daisy building a reluctant friendship based on mutual attraction and witty banter. Their smoldering tension and chemistry builds until the inevitable explosion and their scenes together are both sexually and emotionally intense.
Ian's character is very intriguing in Firelight and it is difficult not to like him despite his smarmy behavior because there is obviously more to him than meets the eye. This theory pans out in Moonglow where Ian's true nature emerges and he is redeemed in a satisfactory manner. Daisy is more problematic as she fails to make much of an impression in book 1 and initially comes across in book 2 as overtly promiscuous. However, once again appearance are deceiving and Daisy is revealed to be an intelligent and compassionate woman with an amazing capacity to love and be loved - by the right man.
In terms of the writing, Moonglow suffers from the same problem as Firelight, i.e., insufficient backstory, which detracts from the characterization. Both Daisy's backstory with her abusive husband and Ian's history with his wife and son are hinted at and eventually come out in sweet and poignant scenes, but having more detail would have made their impact even greater. Furthermore, the twists at the end (view spoiler) are so obvious, the author all but smacks you in the face with them.
The paranormal aspects are interesting with the Lycan/Werewolf dichotomy and Daisy's elemental power (view spoiler) Nevertheless, the explanation of the GIMs is confusing and it is unclear to whom they owe their debt of immortality and what exactly is needed for them to retain it. The Society for the Oppression of Supernatural is also underdeveloped but perhaps more information will be forthcoming in the next installment.
The secondary characters are compelling from Ian's disgruntled valet and mothering housekeeper to Daisy's gifted sisters; not to mention the various supernatural beings living in and around London. There are also tantalizing hints at stories to come with Poppy and Win's estrangement and the obvious animosity between Jack Talent and Mary Chase.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Angels and Demons

So basically, this was an episode of Touched By An Angel. But on Showtime instead of the regular network channels.
Hello Axel! I don't remember you from the first book, but I will remember you for-evah!
I read the reviews for this before I started reading and people didn't like it as much as they thought they would. So naturally, I started reading thinking this was going to be a pain to read and I was only reading just so I could stay up to date with what was happening with everything. Now that I'm finished, I'm a tiny bit baffled as to why the people that didn't like it, didn't like it that much. Meh, whatever. To each their own, right?
I can understand where one would think this is a more inspirational story within the rest of the other books. It was lighter and more romantic than it was smutty and sexy. There were more rainbows and dancing unicorns mixed in. But maybe that was the point for Koldo's book. Maybe he's just that way. Maybe he secretly has a collection of My Little Pony in his cloud and Gena wanted us all to see that. I even thought the new guy, Clerici, might be a bridge into what people thought was part of the "message." But when I looked it up, Clerici is a solution that is of equal parts of thallium formate (Tl(CHO2)) and thallium malonate (Tl(C3H3O4)) in water. It is a freely flowing, odorless liquid which changes from yellowish to colorless upon decreasing the concentration of the thallium salts. So much for that assumption.
Koldo thinks he can teach Nicola how to get past the demons in her life. To bring back joy and start to live again. How is that any different than some tortured hero being redeemed by some woman he meets and finds irresistible? Is it because he's the one doing the teaching and the fact that he's an angel? Even so, in the end, he was the one that needed to follow his own advice. Hell, I was trying to project that into him half way through his book.
"Dude, seriously, let it go. Some of the stuff you were doing is bringing me down."
As far as the lack of pages and pages of smexy smuttiness, I was relieved. After a while, it all starts to sound the same. What would really impress me is if the sex scene involved people hanging upside down and knitting a sweater while doing the deed. It's possible, (view spoiler) .["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

We finally get to see Granuaile kick some serious butt in this one! This picks up 12 years from the previous book & it's time to make Granuaile and official Druid. The only problem is the Olympians, the vamps, and many others don't want to see it happen and do everything in their power to prevent it. Poor Atticus just can't catch a break! Lots of prime Oberon moments in this one. Especially his views on humans mating. This sets up nicely for Hunted and I can't wait to see where Mr. Hearne takes Atticus and company to next!

And Jenne, I got

I'm ready for a NEW SHELF!!

I'm hoping the next shelf has Hexed on it so I can continue choking on my coffee as I read! :P
